Damnation will more likely see a reprint in something like Planechase 2012 before it does in a Standard set. Standard has never had a black sweeper that was better than any white sweeper in Standard. Unless we see a major shift in the color pie, Damnation isn't coming back any time soon.
I'd be a fan of Mutilate but I have zero hope that it will happen.
Let's remember that black's main thing is spot removal (kill spells) and hand disruption (discard).. I wouldn't be surprised if we went one or two sets without having a single good black sweeper in standard. It's the ebb and flow of standard.. keeps it interesting.
I'd much rather see a Mutilate reprint than a Damnation reprint. Damnation was perfect for Planar Chaos, but Mutilate is much more flavorful/suitable for black removal and it gets rid of those pesky undying creatures. Sadly, as was mentioned above, black just gets intermitant mass removal.
PS: I've always loved Infest, wouldn't mind seeing it again either.

damnation isn't happening. the card will only exists because of a block where the color pie was purposefully skewed. It isn't black sweeper style. black gets massive negative's to creatures when it has sweepers.
on another note, why couldn't it be in avacyn restored? maybe sorin blew up a whole bunch of stuff via ultimate, and this becomes a sweeper card. the last black sweeper came in a middle block(black sun's zenith). I just see no logic as of why it needs to happen in these two sets.
Not surprising if they printed a black sweeper in Avacyn Restored, unless Wizards decide that Zombie Apocalypse/ Liliana is the black sweeper of this set. After all, almost every block has a black sweeper or two.
It's still not colorless, and has no color. That's a paradox. So either you're a Zen master or an idiot, I'll assume the Zen master for sake of argument. This card will have no paradoxes because it has a clear paradox. Deep stuff man.

I once farted during the final match for prizes at an FNM. It was a tense moment, everything was quiet, control vs control, I was about to mana leak, thought about it.. and farted. Then mana leaked.
As much as I would LOVE a Damnation or Mutilate reprint, I do not think it will happen. Damnation has the whole "cannot be regenerated" clause which they wants to stay away from. I believe a Mutilate reprint would be really awesome and could be VERY playable but I have been waiting for that to come back for years and it sadly just isn't going to happen.
Wasn't there some discrepency about the card Damnation because of the name? That and Wrath of God? Something about religion...
I could really care less, I don't worry about those types of things. But I don't think they would reprint it after that, I think they would just make a new version. Probably just a black Day of Judgment.
Damnation has been appearing in some mothership decklists, similar to how Think Twice was appearing a lot in the weeks before it was spoiled as being in ISD.
I'm willing to bet that we get a cool art of some Demon asploding something

Not really. Day of Judgement/BSZ of T4 is a pretty crucial spot for control, and often saves them from being aggroed out by removing/weakening all the opponents threats. Killing Wave might take care of a couple weenies but at that point in the game aggro its probably going to just sac its early drops (Strangleroot Geist, Gravecrawler, Diregraf Ghoul, Doomed Traveler) and pay the life for its beaters (Hero of Bladehold, Phyrexian Obliterator, Huntmaster of the Fells), and continue to push through the last bits of damage.
I guess the problem is, Killing Wave doesn't sweep, it kills the most expendable creatures tour opponent has, and does a little damage.
Killing Wave is not intended for control to use, rather, more of for mid range to use as a final get-there/allow creatures to beat in. I can see it being SB material in Zombies. Turn 5, cast it, they lose 4 life a creature or sac them out, then you swing in with your guys. GG.
What is needed is a U/B control sweeper. Killing Wave is not.
Are we going to get a black Day of Judgement or something more mana intensive like Black Sun's Zenith?

feel like its only a matter of time before wizards prints a black day of judgement varient.
Gimmicks like that always seem to happen, granted it can take years.

You should read Undying.
Life's Finale says nay.
That's pretty mana hungry for a board sweep, tho it would be interesting to see cycling make a comeback in newer sets.
