Discard Outlets
Discard outlets take advantage of the fact that we want most of our cards in the graveyard, since they then net all sorts of benefits. Many of those engines also bring a continuous stream of new cards in hand. Unfortunately, the more powerful discard outlets are only castable from our hand. Life from the Loam and Squee, Goblin Nabob make all discard outlets net considerable value.
Of the discard outlets, Zombie Infestation and Conflagrate identify our two primary gameplans which are to create a lot of zombies and deal a lot of damage in tandem with Bloodghast respectively.
Value Engines
Cards we want to see in the graveyard. They net either board presence or card advantage while fueling multiple discard effects.
Despair Package
It's very easy to create an large board presence very quickly and utilize the aftermath of Driven // Despair to make opponents discard their hands, especially due to the fact that it's very hard to block a large number of Menace creatures. The abrupt hand disruption usually grants a couple of turns where we can win. The Driven part can also be relevant in more attrition-based matches, where our otherwise small creatures can help us dig deeper and find more gas. A special note must be made for Dryad Arbor which is fetchable and can thus help us assemble a critical mass of attackers.
Dredge Cards
Life from the Loam is our value engine that fuels our primary gameplan.
Stinkweed Imp helps fill our graveyard quickly in search of more gas, especially if we switch to the backup plan of Conflagrate-ing every turn.
Golgari Brownscale helps Vengeful Pharaoh stonewall aggressive strategies, especially with tricks involving Lingering Souls chumpblocking (block the large attacker, let the smaller get through, kill the larger one, get the life back next turn). A single copy of Canyon Slough is necessary to enable more intense lifegain in the late game.
