My wife's first EDH deck. Red being very simple and focused, I thought it would be a good way for her to learn the game without needing to worry too much about the stack, balancing life vs card draw, etc. The only real weaknesses of this deck are the inability to stop flyers, and card draw. Still, for a first, it's commendable, I believe.

There's a weird goblins subtheme, but not really enough goblins to make it work. Did your wife make the deck or you? You could recommend Grenzo, Havoc Raiser (or the already-included Krenko) if she just plain likes goblins.

Posted Feb 13, 2018You do have a lot to offer, and I do appreciate it. This is still a learner's deck for my wife though, so putting in much more beyond 'burn and beat face' is still a bit for her to follow and retain. The guys and I have been super patient with her, but adding too many of those would just overwhelm her at the moment. She is learning this deck pretty fast(given it's simplistic strategy, not surprising at all), so when she feels she's ready, I'll keep those in mind.
Fortunately, most of the people I steer her to play with are super casual while she's learning the ropes, so counterspells and boardwipes are either nonexistent, or in the case of counters, directed at me(all I wanna do is play Thraximundar! lol).
The goblin sub-theme was unintentional, but when we were running low on War/Bar/Ber from my collection, they stepped in to fill the gap. Grenzo does sound like a great addition; I'll send out a BOLO to my LGS about him, and hope someone has him for trade before I turn to online shops.
Deck was built by me, and I tried to keep it as simple as possible for my wife, as well as use what I had available. Obviously, I had a lot, but here and there is some obvious jank. Some earlier stuff was replaced when she started buying her own boosters(before we posted it here), but she likes it the way it is, and can follow along with what she needs to do(well, except being nice...she's too nice to play this deck as aggressively as she needs to, lol).

Posted Feb 14, 2018I will work towards the hasty stuffs and perhaps Animosity; those would would provide more of a 'hit' with the theme, as opposed to 'hit-or-miss'ing a called creature type with Door or Banner.
