Also, in awesome news, I found out there's a PTQ being held 30 minutes from my hometown later this month, so I get to go duel with the big boys. That's exciting.
Nice! Modern, too? Which deck are you planning to run?
Ah right: Zombie Apocalypse scheduled for tomorrow. This'll be fun!

No Modern, just Standard, unfortunately. I'll be running BG Zombies. You'd be surprised how well it does in this meta with creatures like Knight of Infamy and Experiment One added to the list. Plus, I have the element of surprise--no one expects BG Zombies anymore, and doesn't side anything in against it. Jund causes trouble, though---so many removal spells.

You will accede my every command.
Yeah, Rest in Peace hoses my deck. It's so regenerate/scavenge/undying heavy that I just have to hope they don't have it available in their sideboard. At this point, I'm just hoping that the fact that reanimator and zombies are both not played very much will help me out.

Yeah, make sure you side some enchantment blast, which should be easy with green. most esper control are siding. 2 - 3 and backing it up with counter spells. If you can get rid of it, save a salvage to refill your field before esper settles in and whittles you down with Resto's.

Yep. I've got Abrupt Decay mainboard and I can side in Golgari Charm against decks that have it.

Decay is pretty awesome. It gets all the annoying stuff, from RiP to Reckoner. Mind to post a decklist?
Painted quite a lot of minis in the last time. Army needs to be ready in may for a tournament.
I know the sorcerer's paint scheme is a bit off, as he's still wearing my loyalist colors. I convinced him to go rogue after realizing I needed someone to lead my Chaos team. Also, random planeswalkers. Urza is still under construction, as he's terrible to model ...

@Tera- about the decklist---I'm probably going to put Cavern of Souls in there too. I just switched to a different LGS and the meta there is a lot more hostile to my deck. CoS should help.

I'll be submitting my picks now, have been out at a party and then to Ultimate Frisbee nationals training (never again... I really REALLY need to stop training while hungover, it's the worst thing EVER) and haven't been home! I'll go over everyone else's submissions and shoot you a PM asap!

You should run Cavern of Souls in any creature-themed deck. For you, they tap like a Underground Tomb, but even in monocolor it's anti-counter ability is priceless.

Yeah, I know. For me, it was less of a choice of deciding to put them in or not and more of me trying to find the money for them. They've all been purchased as of today. The hostile meta made them too necessary to forego.

Oh yeah, I hear you. My wife runs a werewolf deck and I_ run a B/R Vampire Deck casually because we aren't buying 8 Caverns. I didn't mean "you should have thought of that before" or anything, just that they're really good. Makes Shocklands seem cheap.

Heh, I love Cavern of Souls. Particularly in EDH when I drop it turn one and name "Beeble." After a turn of wtf's from my opponents, I'll drop a karoo land and bounce it (and usually discard some big reanimation target) and drop it for Sphinx the next turn
But that's just my Vorthos talking, I definitely appreciate the card from a play point of view too, not just the "let's do something funny with this card" way!
Mind you, since I have nowhere competitive to play, I'm mostly playing for fun interactions at the moment Hence why Master Transmuter is about my favourite card ever
[EDIT] I thought this was worth sharing... Check out the view we get when we're having some casual drinks in New Zealand
When the Standard deck is more expensive than the Legacy deck, something's gone wrong ...
@ Legacy: I took my pick for the GP next month. Mono white control it is! Thanks to Land Tax coming off the ban list, I can't wait to bring my favourite deck from ancient times back to the tournament scene.
@ New Zealand: Necro, you're sitting on the right side of the globe. Europe's grey and wet ...

That is ridiculously amusing. I can relate to how your opponents feel, though...I wouldn't know what to do if someone named Beeble on a CoS!

Ecology lecture today. I tinkered with Legacy deck lists, the professor talked about biomes.
Teacher: 'In the north, we have tundra, followed by boreal coniferous forest, also called taiga. Can someone name me other biomes?'
Me: 'Scrubland, Savannah and Tropical Islands.'
Hey, I was right with 2 out of 3!

I'm finishing putting together Esper Control(solar flare), what do you do against things like Supreme Verdict Ultimate Price Tragic Slip Devour Flesh? Side in Rest in Peace and your Grizzly Salvage and any reanimate is moot. Deathrite Shaman is no good without a graveyard. Scavenge doesn't work. I would think Lotleth Troll gets about worthless. Yeah, dude, watch out for Rest in Peace, that thing could mess with you bad. Naturalize or even [Nature's End[/Card] can do the trick, as long as you keep watch for Negate and Dispel.

@ Digi: will try. My old camera has a miserable picture quality closer up.
@ Zombie Apocalypse: I learned 2 things. 1: cursing zombies is actually useful and 2: never trust the person with the railgun.
