So... is this a clan of anime fans? Or just a general clan?
Any particular game style you play?
Singer could probably explain our situation better than I, but yes we are a clan of anime fans. I don't believe we have a particular style of play. Why are you interested in joining?
So... is this a clan of anime fans? Or just a general clan?

Well, some of us don't really play Magic, so the main thing that unites us is anime, yeah. I rarely play virtual Magic, but I'm not so sure about the rest of us. If you're still interested in joining, I'll add you in.
Since I expect to get a job next year (well, I am going to graduate, after all), I've been making more pre-orders for anime stuff, especially figures. My most anticipated pre-order right now is this lovely figure of Ikaruga; I haven't played the games, since I don't have a 3DS, but her design is just perfect. Might as well post a link to my figures collection: http://myfigurecollection.net/collection/SingerOfW
It doesn't have a small figure of Phantom Blood Dio Brando, though. Weird that it's not in the database.
And here is my latest loot. This one I got from my mother after her latest trip to Europe:
It's been a while since I last read Negima, but this omnibus is actually pretty close to the last chapter I've read (and she bought it at random, too!). Guess I should pick it up soon.
And this one came last week from one of those pre-orders (I did get some money this Summer to buy random stuff like this):
Yep, the phone straps of various heroines from my favorite visual novel developer. Pity that there's no Ishima Kaigen, but I still couldn't resist putting my first strap in seven years on my phone. Waiting warmly for the second series.
I've been catching up to Akame ga Kill, an excellent manga that's all about gray and black morality. I like such themes after reading Soukou Akki Muramasa, and Akame scratches that itch I've been having since I finished that. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes likable villains, evil defenders of justice, and good artwork.
So, what are your thoughts on Perfect Blue?
EDIT: Oh yeah, have you heard that hurricane of anime announcements this weekend? Things are going to get so crazy next year, especially with the Dangan Ronpa anime.
Perfect Blue... I still remember people comparing Black Swan to it when the movie came out, because of the similarities between the film.
Being said, it was quite an excellent psychological thriller. It is actually dangerously similar to some actions taken by fans recently over the whole "idol" subject (Kurobas threats, many different threats to famous voice actors/actresses because of their private lives, etc). The film also brings up the theme of living between reality/fantasy and the degree of intermingling between the two (which, again, is being seen a lot in the modern age especially with the growth of the internet and virtual reality). I do think Kon wanted to say that a person cannot move on if he/she is bogged down by fantasy, and one must find their own footing in reality in order to move strongly on.
Also, Dangan Ronpa is being helmed by Kishi Seiji, who has done some of the most insane shows (Seto, Sunred, P4, Jintai), so I'm definitely keen.
PS. Winter season anime seems terrible. Half the stuff I want to watch is like.... sequels
It's not the kind of anime I'm typically into, I'll be honest. I watch anime partially as an escapist attempt from my life to worlds of wonder and fun, so this particular film is not the usual par for me. That being said, I was impressed with the sheer impact it had on me. Very rarely do anime thrillers truly put the terror in me. I believe Perfect Blue executed well enough for me to enjoy it regardless of my tastes. Solid 7.75/10, would watch again, would recommend to most anime fans.
EDIT: Oh yeah, have you heard that hurricane of anime announcements this weekend? Things are going to get so crazy next year, especially with the Dangan Ronpa anime.
I'm so excited. Nekomonogatari Black on New Year's Eve. All of NisiOisiN's Monogatari works being greenlit for an anime adaptation. Season 3 of TWGOK in production. And I recently learned Oreimo season 2 is in the spring. So overall, I'm very excited at the moment.

Finals have been eating me alive. I won't be able to watch the anime of the week since I'm still in the thick of things, but I figure I might as well post because, you know, I'm not dead yet.
As far as the Magic discussion goes, I'm a pretty solid Timmy-Spike. I like playing optimized, competitive decks, but I also only like playing decks I personally like (i.e. if the best deck is something I hate, I'll settle for second best). I mostly stick to EDH and Legacy, although I do play Standard for FNM purposes.
Also Mike: Airi and Nanael, eh? Not the greatest fan of Nanael, myself, although Airi's kinda cool (the entire Swamp Witch trio is, really). I'm gonna restrain myself from talking too much about that subject, though, since odds are I wouldn't shut up if I got some momentum going.
Haven't watched Perfect Blue yet, though I definitely intend to watch it sometime.
I went through a trip down memory lane the other day and started reading Zatch Bell. I remember watching the anime waaaay back when it was on Toonami. It was one of the few shows I remember keeping up with as a kid, I don't think I missed a single episode which was strange for me, since I didn't watch much tv as a kid.
I also started watching SAO last week to see what all the hype was about, didn't even finish it. It's not that I thought it was bad, it had an interesting concept and interesting characters, but the show felt really rushed.
I stopped watching shortly after they got out of SAO and headed into Alfheim or whatever it is. I got kinda aggravated at how they essentially blew off the original concept of the show and headed into a completely different game. I think the show would've been spectacular if they simply stretched out the plot. The characters also really seemed to lack depth, and that made it really easy for me to stop caring about them and the show altogether. I would care alot more about Asuna if they stopped spending entire episodes introducing characters just to scrap them later.
Kirito also pissed me off, he seemed really childish and emotional at times, which completely contradicted what his character should be. After all the people he'd seen die, after all the terror and fear he felt while fighting alone, you'd think he'd be more of a dark/moody/badass character. And even though he was probably the most powerful character in the show, he never felt strong. It really did feel like a video game, and Kirito was simply an overleveled and overpowered character that could fumble ass backwards through the game without breaking a sweat. I would have much preferred him to be a low leveled char with ****ty gear, but amazing talent.
It felt like they were trying to mix cute and badass when making Kirito, and that just doesn't work.
Who knows, maybe I just didn't give the show the chance to impress me.
I just finished reading TWGOK. I enjoyed the manga a lot. The anime was very good, but the manga blew me away. It started making me really care about all the characters. I read the whole series in 3 days, so it's all jumbled right now, so I may edit in a more concise review, but for now all I can say is it's a cute and very funny series, and I'd recommend it to anyone here.
EDIT: I just now caught the typo. Must of made this a bit of a headscratcher to read.
Anyway, while TWGOK is carried on the back of its amazing MC, the girls were enjoyable enough, particularly once the Goddess' started getting involved. The story gets a lot deeper than I gave it credit for, and isn't as shallow as the initial premise may seem. It seems to be hinting at some larger plot, so I'm looking forward to the growth of the story.
I also have Alleyne (http://myfigurecollection.net/item/8833) from the original production run. All three are 1/7 scale so they feel like they belong together.
Not the greatest fan of Nanael, myself, although Airi's kinda cool
Airi's my favorite character from that series. Nanael and Alleyne seem to be her main rivals. Looking at all three and comparing to where they would belong on the Magic color pie, it also helps explain why I feel like grouping these three together.
"A rich man thinks all other people are rich, and an intelligent man thinks all other people are similarly gifted. Both are always terribly shocked when they discover the truth of the world. You, my dear brother, are a pious man." - Strahd von Zarovich
Alleyne's on the cool side of things too. Not much a fan of Nowa though. The characters tend to be really hit-or-miss for me, actually. I either really like (Menace, Melona, Airi, Echidna, Alleyne, even Leina for some reason) or really dislike (Elina, Tomoe, Cattleya, Risty, a few others whose names I forget at the moment) them with no real middle ground.
Reminds me I should get around to watching season 2... kind of stalled out after finishing season 1. But I watched season 1 ages ago so I'd feel compelled to go back and rewatch that too and I don't have the time to commit to both seasons at the moment.
The characters tend to be really hit-or-miss for me, actually.
I believe the original combat books are set up that way on purpose. People aren't supposed to like every character, but should find at least one of them appealing.

Yeah, the point was to cast as wide a net as possible to hit a wide variety of... interests (cough), but even so, I mostly just find it interesting that there's almost no middle ground for me. Love 'em or hate 'em. Very few characters rate a "meh."
Do you mean season 2 of the original Queen's Blade or the entire second series, Queen's Blade Rebellion? If the latter, I haven't seen that either.
I meant season 2. Not sure if I care to watch Rebellion or not.
Yay! You're back! Someone just posted this funny comic on IRC. I thought it was hilarious, but only if you have watched Sword Art Online ep 24 and Puelli Magi Madoka Magica.
EDIT: My Anime List I am just getting back into the swing of watching animez. I am going more on the recommendations of a few of the guys at the LGS atm and picking up random series here and there. I've been finding that I prefer not having to wait for my anime to come out each week, so I just get the whole series after it's done or when it's almost over, so I can just watch it 3-6 episodes at a time...
hey guys bit of an update here, my isp has been flagged by mtgs because apparently someone or something using the isp spam flooded mtgs and as a result anyone using that ip gets pseudo-banned, which means i cnt be as active with the forum as i would want (Tried sending a report but mtgs says im pretty much screwed here).
currently posting from my wifes phone using a malls wifi connection... so ill try to catch up if ever possible, but my future here feels non-existent.

Well just finished watching Sword Art Online. Now I'm heading over to Baka-Tsuki and see where the story goes from there.
Finished Chuunibyou too and I've already been getting a list of replacements (Tamako Market looks moe-liciously promising >:3 ). Still waiting for Sakurasou and Busou Shinki.
Oh yeah and in other news. This new Vocaloid song just came out. (For those of you who have been following this particular Vocaloid fantasy trilogy, YES. IT'S FINALLY COMPLETED!!! XD)

Man, it's getting more and more difficult for to find enough time to post here - I didn't even get to post a new topic last week! But since there hasn't been that much Perfect Blue discussion, I fugured that it's worth lasting a bit longer. And, well, I wanted to actually write down my impressions of it.
And man, what a ride Perfect Blue was!
The main lesson I've learned from it is that you should not have any expectations for Satoshi Kon's works, especially if you get them after watching some of his other works. I somehow managed to watch only his more optimistic, dreamy works, so Perfect Blue was like a punch in the gut for me. I was clenching my teeth AND my fists at some scenes, hoping that they are not what they seem to be, that it's going to be alright...
And it was, so I didn't get traumatized for the rest of my life. This is a quality that I like about Kon's movies: first it confuses you, but then it takes your hand and walks you through its labyrinth of illusions, showing you how it works from the inside. When the final revelation comes, you instantly realize the scenes that were real, the scenes that wasn't real, the reason of the latter happening in the heroine's head... When all is said and done, you honestly feel like you understood everything, even though the emotions that you felt during the mind-screwing scenes are still there.
The movie didn't age that well from the visual standpoint, but the sounds make up for that in spades. In fact, the old-school graphics even give the movie some points, making some associations with old-school anime full of blood and gore.
Lastly, I hope that Yumi didn't actually sing with CHAM on that concert? With the faces they made when pseudo-Mima appeared on the stage, she just might have.
Happy holidays! Don't forget to share joy and happiness with everyone you see!
I'm in the middle of the exams, so I'll have to wait till the New Year for the holiday mood, but that shouldn't stop you from having fun!
It's Christmas Eve and I finally finished SAO. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I'm thinking about following up on the LNs. The ending was satisfying enough I suppose, although I'm aware there's more content to explore. The series was intense, fun, and heartwarming, and I'd recommend it to anyone who happened to not be watching it this season.
Anyway, with the year coming to a close, I hope Singer won't mind, I was curious as to people's picks for anime of the year? I'm personally rooting for SAO, although I believe Fate/Zero is eligible. If it is, it's tough for me. I'd probably give the edge to SAO, as I believe the latter half of the second season of Fate/Zero was overall the worst, even though I still loved it.
EDIT: Oh and a Merry Christmas to everyone in the clan! I'm very glad I joined and hope we have a huge resurgence in the New Year.

Anime DVD/BD: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Limited Edition DVD/BD sets
I held out on buying these but eventually gave in. The soundtrack CDs justified the purchase in my opinion. The anime itself turned out to be really good, though I was only able to fully enjoy it on a second viewing.
Streaming: Fate/Zero
It's the only anime I watched on-line this year.

Humanity has Declined
The show had EVERYTHING. Humour? Check. Dark humour? Also check. Cynicism? Yep. Satire? Plenty. Believable/real personalities? Overflowing. Insanity? Plenty.
I mean, any work that manages to totally make fun of society in 24 minutes (or a 60-70 page chapter) gets my automatically thumbs up.
