Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
The Crumbling Factory
The Crumbling Factory proceeds exactly like the Battle Factory, with one difference: All your restrictions are given to your up front, and every round you choose and eliminate three of them to use. Pros: It can be described in one line. Cons: ???

We should do this in July. It's already made, we'd just have to tweak how each round works and how exactly you'd lose restrictions, but all the groundwork has been laid out.
It's also a nice polarity shift to last PT season. Battle Factory to kick off the first PT season, reverse Battle Factory to start season 2.
I don't like the name though. It's got no "pizazz".
In IRC tonight, we've decided that as a solidarity movement, everyone in CF should have "We don't give a **** about the Gutter" in large type in their sig.
I still want to do my choose-your-own-adventure thing. all of the development and commitment is concentrated on the runner of the MQ and the people only have to make cards. I could that for a CCL, but it would be a bit complica'ed.

I still have my "Mini-World Building" MQ I'd like to try.
I'm not sure that's a good idea this month, MW will still be fresh in everyone's mind and that game feels too similar. Also, I can't remember how much work for the participants you had planned on, but so far both MQs that took a lot of work have failed to varying degrees.
Basically what we've learned is that the formula looks like this:
1. Individual competition. No team elements whatsoever.
2. No extraneous work. Card design only.
3. A compelling hook to get people interested.
4. Streamlined and simple; easy to run and easy to play.

I think team elements are fine provided they don't interfere with each player's creation skills or whatnot. Sort of like the Labyrinth; the teamwork was implicit because you had a role to fill, but your card was your own, and the team score was not a huge factor.
I think having to incorporate elements that you did not choose for yourself heightens the creativity and challenge.
Also, challenges tend to focus on concrete elements, like making a specific card type or creature type, using a specific color, etc.. Perhaps they could incorporate more thematic or situational challenges. Something R&D might run across, like we need a non-spider creature with reach that fits into _______ setting. Just a simple example.
The issue isn't that the card challenges themselves aren't too challenging; more the structure of the contest itself; as evidenced by MW. Battle Factory had a lot of restrictions and challenges, but the simple duel structure meant that it really flourished.
I'd agree with this.
pstmdrn has a good point though. We haven't really done a hole-filling game and that could be a good hook.

Overview: A weekly challenge revolved around portraying different flavors drawn from different objects to be used as inspiration. A picture, writing, a video, a song, etc.
Duration: 1 Month
Game Structure: Everyone can participate up to the 4th week, submitting one card inspired by a predetermined source and one of their choosing. The 4th week cuts to top 4 or 8 and all participants will submit 4 different cards. One card for each object used so far (New objects, just the same classification) and another of their choice.
Challenge Structure:
Design a card as if this were the card's art.

Design another card inspired by a source of your choice. Please provide a link and ALWAYS PROVIDE ARTIST CREDIT. If your source is written, be sure it is short and can be read reasonably in a few minutes. No writing describing why/how your card ties to the source is allowed, it should be able to portray the flavor it on its own.
Judging Structure: This I'm unsure of. I'm thinking CCL styles teams may be a good way to go. We can hammer this out later. 4 days to submit, 3 days for critiques/voting would be an even 4 weeks. Maybe use those extra 2-3 days at the end of the month towards the final round, since it's more work.
No draw engines will definitely result in a loss.
(Probably NSFW) So you may have heard I'm trying to write a TV series...
