1. knobbodi - Shelldakul Drowned Catacomb / Thoughtseize / Thoughtseize / Emrakul, the Aeons Torn / Shelldock Isle Not a whole lot to say about my choice of deck this week besides I remembered that the hideaway lands are rare, and shelldock-emrakul is usually a solid combo. The fact that thoughtseize serves as disruption and a combo piece is pretty neat, though.
3. Draco9 - So Emo Dark Depths / Hex Parasite / Death's Shadow / Nezumi Shortfang / Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth Solid deck! I like the sheer number of outlets that your deck can attack from. The only thing that you could have had better was some sort of real disruption. But with only rares you didn't have a whole lot of options as far as disruption goes.
4. Error1 - Five turn attack Seachrome Coast / Student of Warfare / Myr Superion / Mangara of Corondor / Aether Vial I like this deck a lot. I don't think I've seen aether vial used to such good effect before. You're probably getting a PotM point for creativity, but it isn't gonna accomplish much since you've only participated in this round. But if you keep up solid finishes like this you'll be in the running for next month, I'm sure.
5. Feyd_Ruin - More of Feyd's weirdings... Murmuring Bosk / Porphyry Nodes / Porphyry Nodes / Thoughtseize / Helix Pinnacle Your deck was pretty neat. The only problem was you having discard meant that you couldn't cast your other spells on the first turn. Also, as always, helix pinnacle is mind-numbingly slow. Double porphyry nodes was pretty brilliant, however, and even a 2nd turn thoughtseize was still usually effective enough.
8. Hinotama - The Cheese Stands Alone Lotus Bloom / Lotus Bloom / Pact of Negation / Pact of Negation / Barren Glory Your deck pretty much had the basic weaknesses of every barren glory deck. Unfortunately for you, most of the disruption that affected you wasn't targeted enchantment destruction, and came down way too early for your pacts to work. That's a pretty sweet interaction though!
9. Shogun17 - The three magi'i Copperline Gorge / Magus of the Vineyard / Magus of the Moon / Magus of the Scroll / Omnath, Locus of Mana I really liked the completeness of your deck, with all of your magi'i, but magus of the scroll never really mattered this round. Turn 2 magus of the moon won you a pretty decent number of games, but your almost total reliance on magus of the vineyard lost you some games.
10. Thundersnow - Sieged Murmuring Bosk / Woodland Cemetary / Birds of Paradise / Skinshifter / Doran, the Siege Tower Not a ton to say besides that your clock was fast and your creatures were really big, and your solid finish reflects both of those facts.
11. WhammWhamme - Remember the Titans Pact of the Titan / Pact of the Titan / Pact of the Titan / Angel's Grace / Eiganjo Castle This is just a case of faster clock vs potential disruption compared to the normal version of this deck. Also, no way you could have known this, but if you had chosen a different land you would have won the mirror.
12. Own3d - Enter the Void Chrome Mox / Chalice of the Void / Darkslick Shores / Bitterblossom / Oona's Prowler Chalice of the Void for 1 or 0 on turn 1 is a powerful play, but your games on the draw weren't great, because a fair number of decks this week could outrace or deal with bitterblossom in some way.
Congratulations Heart of Draco, for winning modern 5CB round 10 and Player of the Month (again)! This coming week is going to be a normal week, and I'm going to extend the due date by a day because I wasn't really clear about it in the original post. Decks are going to be due on monday.
Modern 5CB is identical to vintage 5CB, except for the following:
-The cardpool is limited to cards that have been printed since 8th edition and mirrodin (counting both of those), ie anything printed in the new card frame (but also including timeshifted cards, and not including cards printed in duel decks or the from the vault series)
-No one may submit a deck that can cause their opponent to move a card in their hand to a different zone before that player's first turn. That is, no turn 1 discard. Also, no one can submit a deck that can win on its first turn
-The banned list is:
Ghost Quarter
Meddling Mage
Vampire Hexmage
Chancellor of the Annex
Laboratory Maniac
Just throwing out a special format idea. Not sure if this has been done before or not.
Subsidized Mana
Players start with :symw::symu::symb::symr::symg: in their mana pool. This mana doesn't empty from a player's mana pool as steps and phases end.
Alternatively, you could do another week or something.
This sounds like an interesting idea. I think the sad part about it is that the decks themselves will just involve breaking it in uninteresting ways, though the idea itself is pretty awesome.
Also, I told you I really liked my deck this week.
Edit:
Wait...was this still for September?
If so, based on the grid as is...I think I win and Knobbodi takes 2nd...
6. XScorpion - Half of a six pact
Eiganjo Castle / Pact of the Titan / Pact of the Titan / Pact of Negation / Angel's Grace
If he tries to play a threat, I can counter Angel's Grace. If he Pacts Shoal, he just loses to Pact on the next turn. So I drop Kira (which again he can't counter without losing) and slowly beat down.
Since no one else has posted corrections I guess it falls on me, haha. It appears that I miscalculated several matches because I counted lotus bloom coming into play on turn five instead of four. I don't really have time now but could someone double check all the games involving lotus bloom?
Hinotama beats Error1 before Managara loses summoning sickness and before he gets beaten up when he goes first. 2-2
He also goes off on the play before Shogun17's Magus/Omnath can kill him. 2-2
He can't beat Thundersnow only because of Skinshifter turning into a 0/8 + Doran giving a turn 4 clock which I think is a cool design (or possibly a hilariously fortunate fluke, but it feels intentional).

I think those are the only two changes.
I made a doran deck for modern, and I run Skinshifter over goyf in it, and yes dealing exactly 20 was intentional, I however should have run shizo, or okina as the second land.
You also could have run Razorverge Thicket and Eiganjo.
Also: side note for Modern Doran:
I made a fun one. It had a Glittering WishBoard with 1 Doran in the side among several other good targets, and used Spellskite to good effect (both protects doran and swings for 4 on curve). Can't run GSZ anymore though.
I'm thinking about submitting a deck for next week, but can you guys clarify something for me? Some of the decks this week include thoughtseize... isn't that illegal under the current rules? Is that fine because it was a special week?

Some facts of magic:
-Terror is an emotion which, when experienced, results in death.
-The pox was a disease notorious for having killed one-third, rounded up, of Europe’s population. Smallpox, on the other hand, killed only a single person.
-A person riding a horse cannot be stopped by foot soldiers, large animals, walls, archers, or even catapults.
You also could have run Razorverge Thicket and Eiganjo.

Yeah spellskite can be kind of a house, mine also runs forbidden watchtower and ohran viper, it probably wanted more testing but I liked it.
Both of the decks that played Thoughtseize played ETB tapped lands, so they still couldn't use it until turn 2.
Aha. I see. That makes a lot of sense now; lol.

Alright, so I updated PotM. And Heart of Draco is the winner for September, so he gets to decide on another special format week, that we'll run next week.
Players have infinite life.
(and i guess Blazing shoal is banned)
So, basically, you have to win with poison, infinite combos, or a Door to nothingness-type card. It might be fun because of a lack of room for disruption in the combo decks, and a lack of power in the decks that try to win with, say, double corpse cur.

I'm more interested in 1 million/billion life, as you can still win with infinite combos or with inevitability. That's why I like my Price of Power idea I brought up last time. Maybe if by some disgusting twist of fate I win this month too, we can play that one.

1. knobbodi - Shelldakul
Drowned Catacomb / Thoughtseize / Thoughtseize / Emrakul, the Aeons Torn / Shelldock Isle

2. Personman - Glass Spinning
Disrupting Shoal / Lotus Bloom / Cosi's Trickster / Grimoire Thief / Kira, Great Glass Spinner
Disrupting Shoal on 3 different values is pretty excellent, but the fact that you had to wait until turn 4 at the earlier to cast a creature meant that you got outraced a whole lot.
3. Draco9 - So Emo
Dark Depths / Hex Parasite / Death's Shadow / Nezumi Shortfang / Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
Solid deck! I like the sheer number of outlets that your deck can attack from. The only thing that you could have had better was some sort of real disruption. But with only rares you didn't have a whole lot of options as far as disruption goes.

Not a whole lot to say about this deck. Solid deck, solid finish.
7. Heart of Draco - The Man on the Moon
Copperline Gorge / Noble Hierarch / Inkmoth Nexus / Magus of the Moon / Engineered Explosives
You clearly put a decent amount of work into this deck, and it shows! Congratulations on your win, it was well deserved!
8. Hinotama - The Cheese Stands Alone

No longer staff here.

That would be hilarious.
Yeah, like I said: A really cool idea that I don't think the decks would live up to.
I would be willing try it though, because if it does pan out, it could be rather fun.
I do think I get to win at least one more match than is currently written:
\2. Personman - Glass Spinning
Disrupting Shoal / Lotus Bloom / Cosi's Trickster / Grimoire Thief / Kira, Great Glass Spinner
vs.
6. XScorpion - Half of a six pact
Eiganjo Castle / Pact of the Titan / Pact of the Titan / Pact of Negation / Angel's Grace

I like Draco's idea, so let's go ahead and do Subsidized Mana Week, as above, noting that the mana also doesn't empty as turns end.
