Background: Orphaned young by the constant struggle between Sancti and Nomeni, Nevin soon learned that his emotions were dangerous when a boy he knew nearly died when Nevin's lightning got out of his control. However, in spite of that accident Nevin loves his lightning, and he sees the Sancti as pitiable, ignorant fools who don't know the joy of magic.
Items: clothing, tough shoes, a long dagger, an expandable aluminum staff for focusing charges (if this is too technical, I'll replace it).

Nomeni Name: Pyra Age:16 Role: Pyro Element: Fire Appearance:Several inch long spikey flame-like hair; Itense red skin; Red eyes; Firey red robes over a tall lithe body; Badly burned left arm. Background:Born and raise on a volcano, Pyra has learned how to control her fire. Though she does her best to contro her strongest emotion, anger, she doesn't always succeed. She's learned she must do this to avoid the accident that made her leave her home. She couldn't control it and her left arm just became encircled by lava and then shot out scarring herself somewhat over her entire body and burning down the village. The quarrel with her parents was because of her lack of interest in destroying the Sancti. She feals that combining their militaristic skills with the Nomeni's control of elements could create an unstoppable force. Other items:Firey red cloak and robes to hide her scars, a small dagger hidden in her robes, and a fire starter (if she isn't allowed to generate flames).
Sancti Name: Nurina Age: 17 Role: Sniper Weapon of Choice: Crossbow Appearance: Long, dark hair, tied up behind her in a series of braids; narrow green eyes; dark skin; small frame, more muscular left arm; dark blue fatigues; personal hand crossbow strapped to back. Background: Nurina was born to be a soldier, and she was raised so, living a spartan existence. Any sense of humour she once had was quickly beaten out of her by her parents, who also trained her in the art of shooting from the age of four. She instantly discovered her talent at it, and was soon grimly sinking bolt after bolt into the targets on the practice range. Unfortuately, her parents died in a minor skirmish with the Nomeni when she was nine, instilling in her a deep-seated loathing of the enemy. She started taking care of herself from then on, teaching herself faster than anybody else ever could. Moving on to animals was a piece of cake, and she hopes to soon be able to take a shot or two at the hated Nomeni. Other items: Light crossbow, several clips of ammo, a combat knife, a few scopes of various magnifications (if this isn't allowed I'll replace it with something else) Nurina has few other possessions, not needing them in the rigid lifestyle that she is living. However, she has a bag of threaded beads left to her by her mother, which she keeps as a reminder of her goal to destroy the Nomeni.

Appearance: Zyl is a muscular man with many sacrs, likely from the many battles he has been in. His skin is pale, sickly so. His head is shaved to prevent distraction in battle. His eyes are bright blue, but they lack the depth and feeling that any living person should have. He wears light armor. Background:Zyl knows only two things: before he came back from the Dead Zone, he was a soldier, after he came out of it, he was a soldier with no memory of anything else. Since he has no memories, and no one has claimed to know him, he does what he knows best: He kills without mercy, kills without restraint, and kills without fear of death. He has no fear because he thinks himself to be dead to society already, now he is only an extra soldier, sent by God himself. He has therefore given himself the name Zyl, an abreviation of a word meaning "dead man" in the holy language. His only motivation is the will of God and his vassals. Other items: Zyl tends to wear lighter armor than most "traditional" soldiers, favoring flexibility and the protection of his enormous shield to get through battle. After all, even if his shield can protect him in battle, he was dead before that battle began. Her youth was good, her parents cared for her, although father wasn't at home much, and she lived a life of luxe, she had everything she wanted. Father however wanted her to train her skills in controlling the element air, over the years she became adept in it. Then, she was 15 years old, her father took her away from home and into the wilderness, here he teached her further, and she soon came to understand that she longed for such a life more than a life at home. She had not cared much about the war until then, but when she heard of the prophecy she suddenly wanted to fight against the Sancti and left her parents, who where upset but understood. Other items: Zayina wears flowing, silky, dark-blue and black robes made of expensive, strong, flexible good-quality materials, with sleeves reaching down to her elbows. Around her shoulders is a long black cloak that will keep her warm in cold enviroments, she wears strong black boots on her feet. She also wears two small necklaces around her neck, the chains are made from silver, they both have a single, tiny dark-blue stone in them. Around her waist is a small black belt on which are a few pockets, at the moment empty accept for two black, leather gloves, and there is a rather long dagger at her side, the black hilt is extensively decorated with patterns of silver and the blade is made of razorsharp, slightly curved steel, It's purpose is more ritual but it is an excellent weapon in close quarter combat.

She was calm and collected on the outside, that was, until she got a little taste of blood where she would reveal her true nature. She saw her parents die before her and they cut off her arm, she would make her enemies scream in pain like they did.

Well thanks for the huge feedback after just a single day! I figured there would be a pretty big swing in favour of Nomeni signups, but we'll see how this plays out.

Appearance: Rakin has hair the color of terra cotta with a few grey streaks caused by the strain of his magic. His skin is ruddy and fairly dark, and has a deep voice. He has short cropped hair and a thin ponytail emanating from the nape of his neck, which has some daub colored clay beads tied into it. His eyes are a greenish-brown color.
Backround: Rakin originates from a tribe of shamanic mages specializing in manipulating earth. Rather than using melded earth as a weapon, as the other young shamans Rakin trained with did, he prefered using it as a shield, which brought him ridcule from his peers. After he finished his training, Rakin decided rather than staying to defend the village, he would travel and protect those who needed it most, especially by defeating the enemies of all Nomeni- the Sancti.
Other items: Rakin wears no armor. He carries with him a staff etched in tribal patterns as well as a belt holding small vials of earth.

Appearance: Cerwen's one of those short and fairly thin girls. Not the stick-thin types you find back at home who are doing their best to get the returning fights into their pants. No, not them. She's one of those that goes jogging in the afternoons to keep fit, who does pull-ups on various trees. Being short, well, she can't really control that. Five foot nothing, well under most of the six foot behemoths signing up for the fight. And that's just fine for her. She's fairly unremarkable. Long brown hair that's tied in a braid around a three-pronged piece of metal with -sharp- ends. Brown eyes. No scars, no identifying marks. Perfect, in fact, for her job.
Background: Cerwen was born to be an infiltrator from the start. She was always sneaking into places she didn't belong and listening to secret conversations. And she was smart, too, keeping these conversations quiet until she could reveal her knowledge to an elder. Usually this got her in trouble. But, after a while, many realized they could keep no secret from her. And if her own side couldn't, could an enemy? So they gave her a shortsword to start practicing with. It soon became apparent that she was ambidextrous, good for both. So she gained a second sword. One for defending, one for attacking. Or two for both. She trained for significant amounts of time. After all, it'd be her swords against magic. She better know what she's doing.
Other items: A short-range eyeglass, a small mirror.

Sex: Male Role: "Information Gathering" Element: Electricity
Appearance: Standing at about 5' 9", with jagged tattoos reflecting his elemental aptitude running along his arms and hands. They dance across his skin all the way up to his face and around his torso, they have an odd asymetrical appeal. Usually wears clothes with lots of pockets for storing objects. Likes to keep a hood over his head. Clothing is usually browns and greens, or dark. Black hair that is short and close cropped ("Why give an opponent something more to grab onto?")
Background: Because he was good with lightning, Sammael always hung out around trees and forests. He would hike and camp, trapping and gathering supplies for his wanderings so he could ply his craft when a rainstorm came about. As he aged, he could track animals and hunt them for game and still explored forests...even though he didn't need the lightning rods' help anymore to draw the lightning. He still brought trap equipment and other objects, never letting luck deal him a hand he couldn't use, always trying to be prepared for what can happen. It seemed a perfect fit to join up as a scout and far-out sentry when he could enlist. Since he was only good when there were dark clouds, it seemed he had reached his usefulness...until he figured out he could manipulate other electrical currents. When the application of this was realized, he was reassigned to the benignly named "Information Gathering" branch. They gathered information...in any way possible. From finding the location of something, to getting a prisoner to talk, Sammael believed that the ends justified the means.

Appearance: For such an old man, he has a very daunting appearance. His grey hair falls back in a thin, long pony tail, reaching down slightly past his shoulders. He is usually found wearing his custom-made black robe with gold stripes down the side. His eyebrows seem to be long enough to cover up his eyes, yet for being an archer, his precision is as if he had nothing covering his eyes.
Background: He was born and raised in a family that was traditionally a group of mercenaries, which led him to become such a strong archer. He has grown up watching his parents and siblings vanquish evil, and therefore shares an ideology that would parallel that of Robin Hood. He has seen corruption in families that live richly, and has therefore vowed to bring justice to them, and bring peace and equality to those he lives with. Being a family of mercenaries, he has never known luxuries like the rich have.
Other items: On his black and gold robe, across the area of his heart, he has a silver emblem tied on. On the emblem is two arrows crossing, meant to show courage and strength. The emblem has sharp sides, and conveniently doubles as a throwing dagger if need be. He carries a sack of currency on his belt for when the need arises also.

Never seen without his trademark black beret. Background: Matthias is very empathetic towards other people, a trait he probably got from his father, a doctor. His parents urged him to learn medicine, which he did for a time, but he realized his ability to read people was greater than his desire to heal them. He cared not to see people he would come to know in agony or know that they were soon to die, so he became a strategist, using his empathy to formulate the quickest battle plans that would lead to the fewest casualties. While his twin sister, Kyalin, decided to continue their fathers legacy by training with Water, Krille loved Ice. Complimented by his cold nature, Krille has trained for years to become a killing machine. It can't be said that he hates the Sancti, he just knows that it is his duty to help the Nomeni win the war. Heh, my first post in a Magic forum, in a thread for an RP with nothing to to with Magic. What does this say about my character (no pun intended)?
Anyway, I'm in the midst of creating a character. I'm trying to make a Nomeni support character, but none of the elements seem to fit, so I'm trying to make my own. (see below, under Element) I got the idea from reading about auras from emotions affecting Accendo in Avatar of Kokusho's thread.
I'm still doing the background, but I want to post the element here first, to see if it's okay. I'll edit this post later with the rest of the character information. It'll probably be much later though; I'm in the midst of exams at the moment. And someone ELSE I know should be studying too. You know who you are!
Nomeni Name: Nathaniel “Ozzy” Smith Age: 16 Sex: Male Role: Support/Medic
Element: (I can't think of a suitable name) Nathaniel has the ability to harness the latent “positive” energy around him. Gaining power from happiness, kindness, courage, righteousness, life, love, faith, and every kind of positive emotion or thing from the Accendo flowing around him, he uses it to heal, or bestows it onto others, giving them energy and strength (read “Buff”). He can also convert this “positive” energy into other forms of energy, but much is lost in the transfer. Thus, Nathaniel can do things like creating very minute amounts of heat or light. Among these abilities, he specialises in creating bolts of kinetic energy. A versatile ability, he can use it to aid him in pushing a heavy object, knock enemies over and immobilise flying projectiles, among many other things. However, doing this constantly or repetitively for extended periods requires a lot of focus and causes large amounts of strain.
Appearance: Messy black hair; Fair skin; Brown eyes; Plain clothes (White T-shirt and jeans, he's got a wardrobe full of them, and a brown cloak); Left-handed (though it's not immediately obvious); Once said to look like an “Ozzy” (thus the nickname) Other items: Brown cloak, wardrobe full of white T-shirts and jeans (see above). He also always carries his two family heirlooms: a small, easily-concealable dagger with an odd, clear, unidentifiable crystal embedded into the hilt; a small bracelet of gold beads which was blessed by a Buddhist monk while on Earth, and was passed down to his mother from his grandmother. He has sworn never to let these two items go (I am so going to be made to let them go). Lastly, he also carries with him a small silver cross on a silver necklace, which he found one day on his way to school. He felt an odd attraction to it, and wears it around his neck. Strangely, the cross is in perfect condition, with no markings on it at all, though the necklace is already slightly tarnished.

Hmmm... this is really pushing the boundaries. Healing isn't the speciality of the Nomeni because it's not something that generally would emanate from a planet. I like the concept of a healer but I think it needs to be executed differently. Let me think about it for a while and I'll get back to you.

She has blue eyes, and very short brown hair. Her main weapon is a shield. The shield has a very sharp spike in the middle. She uses the shield not only to repel attacks, but she also bashes her opponents with the shield. She also holds a dagger as more of an offensive option. Her fighting style is very agile and defensive, with only rare offensive strikes.
Background: As a child, she was very flexible. She did a lot of gymnastics as a little girl and she was very talented. Her youth was not a very interesting one. Both her parents were hard workers, but neither of them fighters. She was very smart, and even more clever. She got married at age 26. She currently has 4 children (3 boys (18, 15, 11) and one girl (9). Her husband is a soldier for Sancti, probably a high ranking one. They would train together, which is where she developed her agile fighting style. She did not join the "army" until she heard about the artifact. At this point, the entire family joined together. The three youngest children went to be trained, but she was ready to fight to put those rebellious Nomeni in their place.

Weapon of Choice: A BIG shield and whatever he can wield with it, usually an axe.
Appearance: Zyl is a muscular man with many sacrs, likely from the many battles he has been in. His skin is pale, sickly so. His head is shaved to prevent distraction in battle. His eyes are bright blue, but they lack the depth and feeling that any living person should have. He wears light armor.
Background:Zyl knows only two things: before he came back from the Dead Zone, he was a soldier, after he came out of it, he was a soldier with no memory of anything else. Since he has no memories, and no one has claimed to know him, he does what he knows best: He kills without mercy, kills without restraint, and kills without fear of death. He has no fear because he thinks himself to be dead to society already, now he is only an extra soldier, sent by God himself. He has therefore given himself the name Zyl, an abreviation of a word meaning "dead man" in the holy language. His only motivation is the will of God and his vassals.
Other items: Zyl tends to wear lighter armor than most "traditional" soldiers, favoring flexibility and the protection of his enormous shield to get through battle. After all, even if his shield can protect him in battle, he was dead before that battle began. He also has a hand crossbow for shooting the pesky Nomeni that would dare use their magics to prevent him from getting close enough. He also has a razor that he shaves his head with weekly.

Appearance: Zayina stands at about 1.72 m (about 5'8"), she has a quite dark skin, giving her an exotic look. Her eyes are dark, almost black. Her hair is black and reaches down her shoulders to halfway down her back, she mostly keeps it in a long ponytail. She is slight and lightweighted, making her lean and quick. Many would call her attractive, but she doesn't care about that, she just wants to look the way she thinks is good.
Background: Zayina grew up as the daughter of a powerful and rich man who mastered the use of the element air, her mother also had affection for using this power, but she never used it to great extent. Her youth was good, her parents cared for her, although father wasn't at home much, and she lived a life of luxe, she had everything she wanted. Father however wanted her to train her skills in controlling the element air, over the years she became adept in it. Then, she was 15 years old, her father took her away from home and into the wilderness, here he teached her further, and she soon came to understand that she longed for such a life more than a life at home. She had not cared much about the war until then, but when she heard of the prophecy she suddenly wanted to fight against the Sancti and left her parents, who where upset but understood.
Other items: Zayina wears flowing, silky, dark-blue and black robes made of expensive, strong, flexible good-quality materials, with sleeves reaching down to her elbows. Around her shoulders is a long black cloak that will keep her warm in cold enviroments, she wears strong black boots on her feet. She also wears two small necklaces around her neck, the chains are made from silver, they both have a single, tiny dark-blue stone in them. Around her waist is a small black belt on which are a few pockets, at the moment empty accept for two black, leather gloves, and there is a rather long dagger at her side, the black hilt is extensively decorated with patterns of silver and the blade is made of razorsharp, slightly curved steel, It's purpose is more ritual but it is an excellent weapon in close quarter combat.

Background: She used to be such a nice girl...that was until war broke out. She was calm and collected on the outside, that was, until she got a little taste of blood where she would reveal her true nature. She saw her parents die before her and they cut off her arm, she would make her enemies scream in pain like they did.

Appearance: Rakin has hair the color of terra cotta with a few grey streaks caused by the strain of his magic. His skin is ruddy and fairly dark, and has a deep voice. He has short cropped hair and a thin ponytail emanating from the nape of his neck, which has some daub colored clay beads tied into it. His eyes are a greenish-brown color.
Backround: Rakin originates from a tribe of shamanic mages specializing in manipulating earth. Rather than using melded earth as a weapon, as the other young shamans Rakin trained with did, he prefered using it as a shield, which brought him ridcule from his peers. After he finished his training, Rakin decided rather than staying to defend the village, he would travel and protect those who needed it most, especially by defeating the enemies of all Nomeni- the Sancti.
Other items: Rakin wears no armor. He carries with him a staff etched in tribal patterns as well as a belt holding small vials of earth.

Appearance: Cerwen's one of those short and fairly thin girls. Not the stick-thin types you find back at home who are doing their best to get the returning fights into their pants. No, not them. She's one of those that goes jogging in the afternoons to keep fit, who does pull-ups on various trees. Being short, well, she can't really control that. Five foot nothing, well under most of the six foot behemoths signing up for the fight. And that's just fine for her. She's fairly unremarkable. Long brown hair that's tied in a braid around a three-pronged piece of metal with -sharp- ends. Brown eyes. No scars, no identifying marks. Perfect, in fact, for her job.
Background: Cerwen was born to be an infiltrator from the start. She was always sneaking into places she didn't belong and listening to secret conversations. And she was smart, too, keeping these conversations quiet until she could reveal her knowledge to an elder. Usually this got her in trouble. But, after a while, many realized they could keep no secret from her. And if her own side couldn't, could an enemy? So they gave her a shortsword to start practicing with. It soon became apparent that she was ambidextrous, good for both. So she gained a second sword. One for defending, one for attacking. Or two for both. She trained for significant amounts of time. After all, it'd be her swords against magic. She better know what she's doing.

Appearance: Standing at about 5' 9", with jagged tattoos reflecting his elemental aptitude running along his arms and hands. They dance across his skin all the way up to his face and around his torso, they have an odd asymetrical appeal. Usually wears clothes with lots of pockets for storing objects. Likes to keep a hood over his head. Clothing is usually browns and greens, or dark. Black hair that is short and close cropped ("Why give an opponent something more to grab onto?")
Background: Because he was good with lightning, Sammael always hung out around trees and forests. He would hike and camp, trapping and gathering supplies for his wanderings so he could ply his craft when a rainstorm came about. As he aged, he could track animals and hunt them for game and still explored forests...even though he didn't need the lightning rods' help anymore to draw the lightning. He still brought trap equipment and other objects, never letting luck deal him a hand he couldn't use, always trying to be prepared for what can happen. It seemed a perfect fit to join up as a scout and far-out sentry when he could enlist. Since he was only good when there were dark clouds, it seemed he had reached his usefulness...until he figured out he could manipulate other electrical currents. When the application of this was realized, he was reassigned to the benignly named "Information Gathering" branch. They gathered information...in any way possible. From finding the location of something, to getting a prisoner to talk, Sammael believed that the ends justified the means.

Appearance: For such an old man, he has a very daunting appearance. His grey hair falls back in a thin, long pony tail, reaching down slightly past his shoulders. He is usually found wearing his custom-made black robe with gold stripes down the side. His eyebrows seem to be long enough to cover up his eyes, yet for being an archer, his precision is as if he had nothing covering his eyes.
Background: He was born and raised in a family that was traditionally a group of mercenaries, which led him to become such a strong archer. He has grown up watching his parents and siblings vanquish evil, and therefore shares an ideology that would parallel that of Robin Hood. He has seen corruption in families that live richly, and has therefore vowed to bring justice to them, and bring peace and equality to those he lives with. Being a family of mercenaries, he has never known luxuries like the rich have.
Other items: On his black and gold robe, across the area of his heart, he has a silver emblem tied on. On the emblem is two arrows crossing, meant to show courage and strength. The emblem has sharp sides, and conveniently doubles as a throwing dagger if need be. He carries a sack of currency on his belt for when the need arises also.

Background: Matthias is very empathetic towards other people, a trait he probably got from his father, a doctor. His mother is a surgeon and a practitioner of Light magic as well. His parents urged him to learn medicine, which he did for a time, but he realized his ability to read people was greater than his desire to heal them. He cared not to see people he would come to know in agony or know that they were soon to die, so he became a strategist, using his empathy to formulate the quickest battle plans that would lead to the fewest casualties.

Appearance: Okay, basically, imagine Jace Beleren without the hood, gauntlet, or markings. I know that this is kinda cheap, its just that when envisioning what Krille would look like, that fit the bill almost perfectly. PurpleD, if this isn't acceptable, then no problem, ill come up with something. Jace just REally was the perfect look I was going for.
Background: Krille was still a little kid when his father and eldest brother died in the war with the Sancti. His father was a powerful Water elementalist, while his brother branched off into Ice. While his twin sister, Kyalin, decided to continue their fathers legacy by training with Water, Krille loved Ice. Complimented by his cold nature, Krille has trained for years to become a killing machine. It can't be said that he hates the Sancti, he just knows that it is his duty to help the Nomeni win the war.

Anyway, I'm in the midst of creating a character. I'm trying to make a Nomeni support character, but none of the elements seem to fit, so I'm trying to make my own. (see below, under Element) I got the idea from reading about auras from emotions affecting Accendo in Avatar of Kokusho's thread.
I'm still doing the background, but I want to post the element here first, to see if it's okay. I'll edit this post later with the rest of the character information. It'll probably be much later though; I'm in the midst of exams at the moment. And someone ELSE I know should be studying too. You know who you are!
Name: Nathaniel “Ozzy” Smith
Age: 16
Sex: Male
Role: Support/Medic
Nathaniel has the ability to harness the latent “positive” energy around him. Gaining power from happiness, kindness, courage, righteousness, life, love, faith, and every kind of positive emotion or thing from the Accendo flowing around him, he uses it to heal, or bestows it onto others, giving them energy and strength (read “Buff”). He can also convert this “positive” energy into other forms of energy, but much is lost in the transfer. Thus, Nathaniel can do things like creating very minute amounts of heat or light. Among these abilities, he specialises in creating bolts of kinetic energy. A versatile ability, he can use it to aid him in pushing a heavy object, knock enemies over and immobilise flying projectiles, among many other things. However, doing this constantly or repetitively for extended periods requires a lot of focus and causes large amounts of strain.
Other items: Brown cloak, wardrobe full of white T-shirts and jeans (see above). He also always carries his two family heirlooms: a small, easily-concealable dagger with an odd, clear, unidentifiable crystal embedded into the hilt; a small bracelet of gold beads which was blessed by a Buddhist monk while on Earth, and was passed down to his mother from his grandmother. He has sworn never to let these two items go (I am so going to be made to let them go). Lastly, he also carries with him a small silver cross on a silver necklace, which he found one day on his way to school. He felt an odd attraction to it, and wears it around his neck. Strangely, the cross is in perfect condition, with no markings on it at all, though the necklace is already slightly tarnished.
Hmmm... this is really pushing the boundaries. Healing isn't the speciality of the Nomeni because it's not something that generally would emanate from a planet. I like the concept of a healer but I think it needs to be executed differently. Let me think about it for a while and I'll get back to you.

Appearance: Sussania is a middle aged woman. She is taller than avererage and skinny. She wears clothes that are comfortable for her to fight in, with only mild, if any, armor. She has blue eyes, and very short brown hair. Her main weapon is a shield. The shield has a very sharp spike in the middle. She uses the shield not only to repel attacks, but she also bashes her opponents with the shield. She also holds a dagger as more of an offensive option. Her fighting style is very agile and defensive, with only rare offensive strikes.
Background: As a child, she was very flexible. She did a lot of gymnastics as a little girl and she was very talented. Her youth was not a very interesting one. Both her parents were hard workers, but neither of them fighters. She was very smart, and even more clever. She got married at age 26. She currently has 4 children (3 boys (18, 15, 11) and one girl (9). Her husband is a soldier for Sancti, probably a high ranking one. They would train together, which is where she developed her agile fighting style. She did not join the "army" until she heard about the artifact. At this point, the entire family joined together. The three youngest children went to be trained, but she was ready to fight to put those rebellious Nomeni in their place.
