Congrats at the win and invite, your game reports were quite interesting. I feel that Adam was being a sore loser for telling the other player what your deck type was, it seems quite petty. But I wasn't there, so I guess I wouldn't know. Congrats!

See I have ran into Yakov like 5 or 6 times in my magic career, dating back to Team Constructed when I played my B/W Husk deck against his Wildfire deck, to just trading and such at prereleases, etc, and I must say that I am glad Yakov won his PTQ entry and he definitely deserves it..He's a good player and a good guy...good luck in the PT man.
In Game 2 Edward's Riftsweeper and a Call of the Herd token fell to Damnation.
I don't play Constructed, but this seems a bit weird to me. Shouldn't Riftsweeper have been boarded out against your deck? What's he expecting you to suspend?
I fought back as well as I could, killing one Marshal with a Teferi before casting Damnation.
Is that correct? It seems to me that instead of planning to kill Gargadon with a Pact you'd do better to leave Teferi in play here. Sure, you'll take a bit more goblin damage, but not by very much since one token will survive Damnation anyway and you have access to an extra Slaughter Pact since you no longer need it for the Gargadon.
Very fine article. Enjoyed that a lot.

If you look at it, yeah, he made errors. So does everybody. He only made one or two horrendous errors, and over the course of a full tournament playing teachings (or any deck since My Fires) that isn't half bad. So was luck involved? Yes. Would just any random scrub with his luck win? No.
As to the riftsweeper, I wouldn't leave him in. However, from a tired perspective, there is a chance he is just a 2/2 dude, but there is a chance you nail Aeon Chronicler, and that is practically a "must-counter" play. So if the opponent just went on auto-pilot and forgot you didn't have Chronicler, I wouldn't be surprised. See, errors on both sides of the table. There could be other reasons, or he could just have a sideboard mainly dedicate to 'Goyf decks, but that is what I see.
Nice article. I lost to Tai round 2 of that PTQ playing WW and then proceed to go 2-2 drop. Very good player piloting a very good deck...

Nice report. Magic is sometimes about luck. I was playing my PTQ QF vs mono red. He had a Gargadon Isolated. When he suspended another Gargadon, I was ready to scoop. Instead he passed the turn. I got my invite to Valencia after that. Heheh. See you in Valencia.
Another question: Is telling your opponent which deck u play not considered "outside assistance"? I think it is important to call a judge there and just ask if this is ok...
It's definitely worth a punch in the breadbasket if nothing else...

And is it possible for the guy playing Riftsweeper to shuffle his Call of the Herd back into the deck after he flashed it back?
The write up was fun, nice work.

There was a PTQ in Montreal other than the side event to the GP.
