i think karn is being low-balled, but all in all a great trade. if you look at all the powerhouse planeswalkers, 4 is a magic number. in conflux nicol bolas fetched a high price, but it was also a popular deck type and had pretty strong, relevant abilities.
i think it was a good deal... karn won't see play as long as titans are around. the market shows karn continuously dropping and yet tezz has pretty much stabilized and may see some increase over the next few months as splinter twin fades out.
Karn has been seeing play in decks since the Jace banning. He's usually a 1-2 of in most control decks since he dominates the control mirror.
I expect him to rise if/as the game slows down. Certainly he was present in the oft cited Scars Block PT.
Also, Karn's price since the banning has been rising; he was fast approaching the $10 mark, now CFB is buying him for $12 and he is selling around $15 on TCG.
I can see the Obliterator staying high for quite some time. It's a solid card that has applications outside of Standard. It's Phyrexian Negator 2.0. You can have so much fun with P. Obliterator if you play your cards right, so to speak.

Obliterator remains hot at $21 and in fact has sold out on my site now. Karn holds the $15 mark for second place, while Batterskull and Sword fall down to $14. Phyrexian Metamorph sits $1 below Spellskite and may take over as top rare at some point soon. Dismember makes an appearance on the list, moving from 50c to 75c last week, and up to nearly $3 since then! Mental Misstep falls down below a few other cards, to #14. I doubt it will fall much further now, instead gradually losing value over time (unless a major Standard deck picks it up in multiples).
Tezzeret's Gambit has finally sold a few copies for me, at 30c shipped. I'm surprised to see it selling for $5 shipped per playset on eBay. Sometimes I wonder how my average buyer differs from eBay's average buyer. Other than eBay buyers being less intelligent, obviously. (Considering my prices are usually below eBay's, and my shipping is free, and I don't require buyers to purchase in groups of 4, and I don't take people's money and disappear as eBay sellers notoriously do, etc.) Dismember is selling rapidly even after the price jump and should remain high while it's in Standard.
Somebody asked how NP is selling for me, compared to previous sets in the block. Answer: about the same.
Misstep needs great one drop spells to be relevant outside of just lightning bolt. Grim Lavamancer might be all the push it needs as an answer to the splashable red one drop that can take over games. If lavamancer is prevalent, misstep will rise or at least not fall. I find it hard to see lavamancer not being relevant in any format it's legal in.
Because conservative bias is a far, far worse thing. Liberal bias doesn't, statistically speaking, make people stupid. Conservative bias (or at least Fox's version of it) does.
If lavamancer is prevalent, misstep will rise or at least not fall.
Yeah I agree, Misstep may strengthen again later, since it's more of a reactionary spell and if/when there's a need for it against certain top decks, value will pick up, supply will dry up some.
It's been said elsewhere, but Misstep is probably due to gain a little, as the 1-cc card game is really at its highest in Standard for some time. About half of RDW, the principle spells in UB, and all of the UR decks have a heavy focus on 1cc spells. Mental Misstep is, at worst, a significant sideboard card against 3-4 main decks in Standard now. While this may not impact the price too much compared to the complete and utter saturation the card has in Legacy, having the card show up in anywhere from 3 to more decks as a maindeck or sideboard option in some number should raise demand if only slightly.
We may have a BBE to go with out Path to Exile. (Path was in basically any deck that could afford white, while BBE was mostly limited to Naya and Jund)
(Key: The card's most recent move is the rightmost one. This indicates the hottest mover of the update. indicates no movement. is a card that wasn't on the list last update. The data is taken from here.)
An interesting update this time, no doubt there. The set overall probably didn't lose or gain much value in the past couple weeks. If anything, it gained slightly, from what I can see. Perhaps if Jeff does an update we'll know more on that. Most of the set is garbage, but the top 14 cards are decent.
Obliterator remains top dog, up another dollar to $22. Karn stayed about the same, as did Sword - both are $14. Batterskull slips down below by a buck. Spellskite has been at 5th place since the set released, but don't let that fool you - it gained $2 since last update! Elesh is way down at $5 (showing you only the top 5 cards are exciting to open in a pack). Metamorph actually cooled after peaking last month. Urabrask sales remain strong and it hasn't gone down. Dismember, having jumped 20 slots to land at 9th place, gained another dollar to $4, but didn't move up on the list. Paladin is selling nicely and also looks to be gaining in price. Birthing Pod saw a price jump as well, along with Blade Splicer and Mental Misstep, now all at $3. Hex Parasite slumped a bit to sit with Sheoldred and Vorinclex at the bottom of the chart. Just off the list are Beast Within, Myr Superion, and Torpor Orb at $1.50.
Sales have been good. I believe the bannings a while back have allowed a lot of variety to spring up. Players have embraced to some degree the Phyrexian mana mechanic. Metalcraft hasn't widely caught on very much, and neither have proliferate or infect. But plenty of the cards from NP are seeing play and overall the set was pretty strong in recent weeks. We'll see how that pans out soon
I'm surprised Phyrexian Obliterator has stayed this high for so long, especially since it's used in literally one Standard deck. Birthing Pod rise is expected, since it's had good showing in the recent PTQs.
I'm also quite shocked that Puresteel Paladin actually rose, especially since it got printed in the SFM Event Deck.
I have a feeling Blade Splicer will go up even more, and that Dismember will take a huge drop soon.
Obliterator must just be a likeable guy. He's not used in any major decks, I haven't seen him in the EDH decks I play against, and not Modern, Legacy, nor Vintage has picked him up. I find it totally comical he's that high.

WoTC, thank you for finally announcing the Modern format, an eternal format where everyone can participate.
Obliterator must just be a likeable guy. He's not used in any major decks, I haven't seen him in the EDH decks I play against, and not Modern, Legacy, nor Vintage has picked him up. I find it totally comical he's that high.
Yeah, I was wondering about that too. I have yet to see him in any EDH deck around here and we play a lot of EDH! I'm not sure about Modern or Legacy but I don't hear about him played in those formats too much either. I could be wrong though...
I dont know about you all, but they have been one of the consistent sellers since the set came out for me. I sold quite a few to start off, and more people eventually gave up on them dropping and grabbed theirs since the price was so stable and they wanted them. Ive seen legacy, standard, EDH, casual, etc players all buying some, its a variety of people trying them out, and making use of them. It may have a heavy black mana requirement to be used, but for a 4-drop, its quite rediculous, and its hard to argue that.
It's interesting, I haven't seen much interest at all for Obliterator (or Urabrask for that matter) on these forums, but I guess the community here is relatively small.
And I totally speculated on Dismembers, but presumably they won't drop to the pre-increase, pre-event deck price of $1.50.
I'm surprised Phyrexian Obliterator has stayed this high for so long, especially since it's used in literally one Standard deck. Birthing Pod rise is expected, since it's had good showing in the recent PTQs.

It's used in literally 0 Standard decks. Mono-black doesn't count, because it's horrible.
Dismember will drop, obviously. It was printed in the Event deck, but I don't know about huge. I don't know how much more Splier can go, because it's an intro pack rare.
Obliterator must just be a likeable guy. He's not used in any major decks, I haven't seen him in the EDH decks I play against, and not Modern, Legacy, nor Vintage has picked him up. I find it totally comical he's that high.
He's huge in casual. People see big black horror with a disgusting ability and a seemingly efficient mana cost.
Obliterator is definitely a solid card, and it will be built around for a while, but as said it's only good in mono-black.
Blade Splicer is probably not going much higher. It's good but not insanely good. The ceiling should be about $5 on it, and even that seems high.
Dismembers will be about $1 by the end of next month, it's a solid dollar uncommon. It might end up $1.50 like everflowing chalice did a year ago, but given how many will be available with 4x in each deck it's likely it will stay at a nice $1. For an uncommon that's not a bad price though and speculators probably got their money out of it when it spiked by now. If you were holding out for more you goofed. Uncommons, especially standard legal ones never really go over 5 bucks.
Sorry for the lengthy delay in an update, Ive been wicked busy lately between my ebay and brick and mortar store sales, but better late than never I always say :).
As always my prices are determined by ebay completed listings, the low end of ebay buy it nows, and the low end of online store prices. Enjoy!
Top rares/mythics:
Phyrexian Obliterator: $20 (For me, still hasnt moved, Im not sure Ive ever seen that before)

Dismember: $4 (4x reprint in event deck will likely cut price in 1/2, wont drop below $2 though)
Mental Misstep: $3
Beast Within: $1
Tezzeret's Gambit: $1 (Still selling like crazy, market price closer to .75)
Despise: .75
Dispatch: .75
Average Box value:

Rares: .94x31.5=$29.70

Foils: $6.45
Total average box value: $87 (Box value increased by $3 this update)
Average Pack Value:
$84/36= $2.42
Overall the set is showing some strong staying power. While mythics dropped some, some also went up (and of course Obliterator stayed the course and still hasnt moved an inch from its $20 price tag since the set was released, Ive never seen that to my knowledge.) Rares actually managed an increase this time around, with the couple of declines more than offset by the strong increases in spellskite, birthing pod, and blade splicer. Uncommon/common sets continued to show greater strength as dismember overtakes mental misstep as the hottest uncommon of the set (though due to the 4x reprinting in the coming event deck, the price will likely settle back down to around $2 or so, but I strongly feel it wont drop below that, the supply being added by the event decks simply isnt comparable to the supply that is currently out there, anyone hoping they will drop below $2 I think will find their estimations to be wrong, but I suppose we'll see in a few weeks.) Overall the average box value actually bucked trends and increased this time around, nothing stupendous mind you, but an increase is an increase :).
Anyhow, enjoy the info, and Ill try to do another update in a couple weeks or as time allows.

Dismember won't be $1. I think you overestimate the reach of the Event deck. Most people won't want to buy it if all they need are the Dismembers, and everyone is going to need Dismembers. The price of the deck won't likely fall under $25 for awhile given it's high quality, and the number of people buying them will taper off as rotation becomes imminent. My guess is Dismember will be at least $2-3 while it's Standard legal.
I don't really appreciate the insinuation that I "goofed", since I bought my Dismembers at $1.50 and they've been $5 for what, a week now? I wasn't thinking they'd go higher than that, but I figured I'd have more than a week to move them.
Nice of Jeff, thanks for the data. Nice to see a set actually go up in value! Granted, it is still quite low, but we will definitely take it.
I think the reasons for the boost are:
1) M12 isn't really tearing up the scene.
2) Players initially disregarded most of the mechanics, but have now begun to embrace phyrexian mana and other themes.
3) The Jace/Stoneforge bannings.
Can someone explain to me why Blade Splicer has gotten up so high? Is it a Standard Thing? Is it because its two dudes for one thing? I mean we already got [c]
Porcelain Legionnaire[/c] and is essentially all that rolled into one sorta.
