Hi, I'm picking up a Bazaar that is about EX for $120. The person selling doesn't want to deal with selling online, and the local store is offering less than $120.
What I'm wondering is what should I do with it? I don't play Vintage, so I'm inclined to sell it to a vendor for a ~$40 profit. I just don't know how liquid the Bazaar is because I'd rather hold on to it and trade it down for a bunch of Legacy playables.
So is it better to make out with some cash or try to trade it for about $250 worth of cards? The cash profit would go into cards anyway, so I'm unsure as to what to do.
it's not as liquid as say dual lands or anything, but if you're not looking for top top dollar on it anyway you can easily just sell it for best offer, or trade it down for solid things like dual lands. If you do trade it, try to cut a deal if you don't plan to hold onto it anyway, but if it doesn't move immediately anyway it's not going to hurt you much. Vintage staples like this are VERY stable so someone will eventually take you on the price.
As for staples, cornerstone the trade with solid things like dual lands, if the big cards are any less than it's a bad trade down for you. However if someone offers say an underground sea and a couple LED's, then it might be worth unloading.
I did this with a really beat bazaar once. I went around to the dealers at a GP and just said yo...what's your offer. And then...went around being like..."this other dealer offered X, do you want to beat that?" After 15mins I sold it for like 175$, and made 50$. You could easily do the same, except bazaar is worth more now than it was then so you should make even more.
As a shop it took me 4 months to sell my playset of bazaars at competitive dealer prices. Of all the $100+ cards it's probably one of if not the hardest to resell.
You can get great value on trading it down though.
Would any of you recommend trying to trade it online even though I have 0 rep both here and at MOTL? I'm not sure if I can find anybody locally who either wants it or has enough stuff to trade me.
I wouldn't, and you might still have a hard time because you have no reputation. The people trading these types of cards online usually have a reputation. You might be able to middleman trade, but i'd wait until you get established anyway.
Trading the bazaar here should be no problem. You are just going to be expected to send first on the trade. Just start a trade thread with the bazaar and what you want for it. Good luck!
In summation.....Star Trek wins a prolonged naval battle against superior, yet less technologically advanced, numbers, with Picard leading the assault, while Kirk takes your soul by laying out Solo and probably his manservant Chewy as well, before impregnating and ditching your Princess.

You serious? He's got no reputation here. I would say get established if he's looking to trade bazaar here. It's too high end to risk on a first trade as someone with higher feedback asking him to send first could just rip, but on theother end more established traders might be wary of a fake.
