It's sorta kinda my challenge. So I can do that. And don't worry, you wouldn't have won.

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
I've taken much more than 2 hours to judge fewer entries than have been accumulated for this round. I know it's been a while, but be patient. If it takes a long time, that just means the judgings are going to be really good.
When I said "popular" I meant "popular enough that I know it." This whole challenge was but an exercise in self-indulgence and you all will be judged mostly by the way you managed to represent abilities and/or personalities with your card and rewards will be distributed accordingly!
Locke Cole1WR
Legendary Creature - Human Rogue (R) t: Locke deals 1 damage to target creature. Tap that creature. You get a gold counter.
2/2
Celes Chere4WU
Legendary Creature - Human Knight (R)
Vigilance WU: Counter target spell if it's the first spell cast this turn. If you do, put a +1/+1 counter on Celes.
4/4
IIW: Users that have disappeared from Clan Flamingo.
Well done, Prophilaxis! FF6 is a story close to my heart. However, I am less than satisfied by these renditions of our lovable thie "treasure hunter" and magitech knight. Locke is very much a black and blue character and very little a red one. As for Celes, she's got much more appropriate colours (though I think GW or just WW would be better) but the ability seems off. Not a bad card, I guess. You earn: A botched phoenix quest. Rachel stays dead.
Crustacean Crusader, Sorrow's Bane2UU
Legendary Creature - Crab Homarid Knight
Flanking, vigilance 3: Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal an instant or sorcery card. You may cast that card without paying its mana cost, then put all other cards revealed this way on the bottom of your library. If you do, target creature you control gets -X/-X until end of turn, where X is that card's converted mana cost.
2/5
IIW: Under the Sea!
I'm afraid I've never heard of this guy. By the card alone I'm guess he's a wordy dude that abhors the colour pie. You earn: An expired voucher for an All-you-can-eat at the nearest crab house.
Duncan Idaho Ghola3W
Creature - Human Soldier (C)
Vigilance
When ~ dies, you may pay W. If you do, search your library for a card named ~, put that card onto the battlefield, then shuffle your library.
2/2
God Emperor of Dune is "popular," right?
(Well Dune is at any rate.)
IIW: Snow and/or wooly mammoths
Who is this douchebag? A neat card I guess but fails my hidden criteria. Dune was that thing that was popular like 20 years ago? You earn: A faded TV guide from 1991.
Daenerys, Mother of Dragons2RR
Legendary Creature - Human Shaman M
Haste
Daenerys, Mother of Dragons enters the battlefield with three +1/+1 counters. RR,T, Remove a +1/+1 counter from Daenerys, Mother of Dragons: Put a 2/2 red dragon creature token with flying onto the battlefield.
0/1
I watched all of Game of Thrones over the past week. Now I need to read the books.
IIW: A card based on the first object you look at after reading this challenge. Be sure to tell us what object.
The Khaleesi is well represented in this card though I worry about the power level. A fun card to play with, definitely. You earn: Dominion over a wealthy slave-trading city.
John Marston1R
Legendary Creature - Human Rogue U
Whenever John Marston blocks or becomes blocked by a creature, John deals 2 damage to that creature When the west was won, John was long dead and done.
2/1
IIW: Pressure
Another random schlomo I don't know. Too bad, he's quite neat. You earn: A plate of cold spaghetti.
Freakazoid1R
Legendary Creature - Human Elemental (R)
Haste RR: Shuffle Freakazoid into your library. Then reveal the top card from your library. You may play that card without paying its mana cost. "Freak out!" [2/1]
IIW: Star Wars
Excellent! All the randomness of good ol' F! in an interesting and playable card form. You earn: The seeming random string of key-presses that will suck you into the internet.
The Hulk :4mana::symg::symg:
Legendary Creature - Mutant Human
Whenever The Hulk would dealt damage, instead put that many +1/+1 counters on it
:symtap:: The Hulk fights itself
1/1
IIW: Gate related mechanics
Hahaha how very clever! For this character I'd have liked better a card that transformed back and forth from its puny form to mighty, but this is just very cool. You earn: A pair of ragged, but surprisingly flexible and durable purple pants.
John Henry, Steel Driver1RR
Legendary Creature- Human Worker (R)
John Henry, Steel Driver's power is equal to 2+X, where X is the power of the Artifact creature with the greatest power among creatures your opponents control.
As long as John Henry, Steel Driver is in your graveyard, and you control a Human, Artifact creatures your opponents control enter the battlefield tapped.
2+X/2 Just listen to that cold steel ring.
IIW: Tribal Charms
Who's this? Whomever he is I can tell you went through pains to faithfully recreate him, resulting in a super-narrow card. Also, power should be represented with an asterisk and no X in these cases. You earn: A cold steel ring, I guess?
Tobias Funke3U Creature - Human Wizard [R]
Protection from blue U: Target spell or permanent becomes blue in addition to its other colors. 4UUU: Gain control of target blue permanent. "Let the great experiment begin!"
2/3
Is Arrested Development popular enough?
IIW: 4-8cmc auras
AD is definitely a safe bet when it comes to popular ficitional narrative. Mr. Funke here, has a kind of weird, if interesting mechanic probably referencing something from one of the episodes I haven't seen. You earn: A pair of ragged, tight denim shorts.
Creeper3RG
Creature - Elemental (U)
Flash
At the end of combat, if Creeper attacked this turn, sacrifice it. If you do, it deals 4 damage to defending player and each creature he or she controls.
0/4
A creeper from minecraft. Flash is there to capture the creeper's sneakiness. I considered haste, morph, and a few other things, but I think flash works best. Creepers aren't especially fast, but because they're completely silent until they're about to explode, they can often surprise you if you aren't careful.
IIW: Something that goes boom.
I guess the creeper is well represented here but I hesitate to call minecraft "a fictional story". You earn: A pickaxe.
Jesus of Nazareth1W
Legendary Creature - Human Cleric (M)
Lifelink 1W,t, Sacrifice Jesus of Nazareth: Each player chooses a number of lands he or she controls equal to the number of lands controlled by the player who controls the fewest, then sacrifices the rest. Players discard cards and sacrifice creatures the same way.
2/2
IIW: "Sacrifice CARDNAME: ..."
Ha-ha, we got some commentary here. I just don't get the flavor of the mechanic, though. He dies to restore Balance? You earn: A sweaty handshake from R. Dawkins.
Imperial Soldier - 1WR
Creature - Human Clone Soldier
Whenever ~ attacks, flip a coin. If you lose the flip then ~ deals no combat damage. NO! Guys, listen, those droids had to be the ones!
4/2
IIW: A red card you'd like to see.
Interesting choice and kind of funny. But for such a drawback, I'd expect at least 5 power and haste. Also not sure why is there white in its cost. You earn: An Ewok's crude club to the noggin.
A character from popular media? Well, to celebrate Memory of Light coming out soon, a Wheel of Time inspired card, Rand a la the end of the Great Hunt
Rand al'Thor2WG
Legendary Creature-Human Townsfolk
Hexproof, First Strike Fateful Hour- When you have five or less life, transform Rand al'Thor.
2/4
///////////////// The Dragon Reborn
{W/R/U}Legendary Creature-Human Avatar Wizard
Hexproof, Lifelink, WRU: The Dragon Reborn deals 3 damage to target creature, put a -1/-1 counter on The Dragon Reborn and gain 2 life.
When The Dragon Reborn has 3 or more counters on it, remove all of them and transform it.
5/5
IIW: Evolve
This card exudes flavour... a flavour that is, however, foreign to me and make me question the choice of colours and abilities for it's wordy transformed form. You earn: three -1/-1 counters.
Return of the King1WW
Enchantment (MR)
Whenever a creature dealt damage by a creature or fortification
you control is put into a graveyard, put a quest counter on
Return of the King.
Remove four quest counters from Return of the King, sacrifice Return
of the King: put a 5/5 White Human Lord token with First Strike and
Vigilance onto the Battlefield. That creature has "Other humans you
control get +1/+1 and have first strike and Vigilance." Aragorn, King of Gondor.
The jist is that you hold out long enough to see the king come back.
IIW: Arabian Nights
You tried too hard to convey all the flavor of the story, which left you with lots of unnecessary wordiness (fortifications, really?) that added little to the card. Good flavor, want for elegance and conciseness (just like Tolkien's prose, incidentally.) You earn: The One Ring... oh wait, it's just a cheap copy.
Alduin, World-Eater3BBRR
Legendary Creature - Dragon (M)
Flying, trample
Alduin, World-Eater is indestructible as long as there is a creature card in a graveyard.
Whenever Alduin, World-Eater attacks, return target Dragon creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped and attacking.
6/6
iiw sig
Some Skyrim dragon dude? I never played that game. Good card though. It seems like something Wizards could print. You earn: An arrow to the knee or some other Skyrim meme of your choice.
Selina Kyle2UU
Legendary Creature - Human Rogue {M}
Hexproof
Whenever ~ deals combat damage to a player, you may gain control of target artifact that player controls for as long as you control ~. 2/2
IIW: A nonlegendary card for Commander.
I feel that any card rendition of Catwoman should incorporate black. Admittedly, your card doesn't need it and the flavour is spot on. You earn: A body-tight leather furry costume.
Dude, Slackmaster4W
Legendary Creature - Human Monk
At the end of each turn, if no creatures attacked that turn, put a slack counter on ~.
Remove two slack counters from ~: Until end of turn, creatures can't attack.
3/2
IIW: A card that involves tokens that aren't creatures.
Good flavour if the mechanic is a bit too easy to achieve, specially since after one activation, it gets one counter back immediately. You earn: A hobo beard.
Andrew Hussie, Author2BB
Planeswalker - Hussie
[+4]: Sacrifice a creature.
[+1]: Each player draws a card and loses 1 life.
[-3]: Return target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield.
{1}
IIW: Enchantments with activated abilities and/or non-creatures with lifelink
Hahaha, the first ability made me laugh. This is a really good Planeswalker but may be a bit undercosted as Wizards is now distancing themselves from 4-mana zombify. This one is that and leaves a powerful engine that may recur that ability ad nauseum. You earn: a place in history as the SYLPH of CARD.
Link, Hyrulian Hero3RG
Legendary Creature - Elf warrior (R)
Haste, first strike
Whenever ~ deals damage put a courage counter on it.
Remove a courage counter from Link: Link is indestructible until end of turn. "Let your spirit guide you, for the triforce of courage has chosen well" - Sage of Spirit
6/1
IIW: Demon hybrids
I believe that any self-respecting Link would have more green mana symbols in its cost and maybe some white. Red is a bit baffling and the mechanics don't resemble the small youngster that becomes stronger and stronger with every battle that Link is. You earn: A falling moon to the head.
Kalas, the Single Winged2WUU
Legendary Creature — Human Warrior (M)
Flying, vigilance
Whenever Kalas, the Single Winged attacks or blocks, you may cast any number of spells that could target Kalas from your hand without paying their mana cost. If you do, you must choose Kalas while choosing targets for those spells.
4/4
IIW: Heights
Man, I really wanted to play that game when it came around and never got around it. The card is really cool, but the mechanic feels as though it should be in a green card. You earn: A slightly used Gamecube.
Twilit Unicorn1U
Creature - Unicorn (U)
As long as you have cast fewer than two spells this turn, Twilit Unicorn is unblockable.
As long as you have cast at least one spell this turn, Twilit Unicorn gets +2/+2.
1/1
IIW: A card with flavor text in the structure of "(general rule of philosophy), but (exception to that rule)." For example, “Killing is an admission of weakness, but weakness is relative.”
Is this a reference to MLP or to Twlight? (or both?) Sorry, not familiar with either. As for the card, it will be almost always an unblockable 3/3, too good. You earn: Glitter (that should cover both my guesses.)
Joseph Kony1BR [R]
Legendary Creature - Human Warrior
First strike
:symtap:: Gain control of target creature with converted mana cost 1 or less until end of turn. Untap it. It gains haste until end of turn. "What isn't so invisible is our profits!"
3/1
IIW:
Uh, more commentary. Rather than discussing the "fictionality" of his persona, I'll just say that the card is quite good but I wouldn't ever play with it. You earn: the wisdom to never trivialize serious issues again.

I believe that any self-respecting Link would have more green mana symbols in its cost and maybe some white. Red is a bit baffling and the mechanics don't resemble the small youngster that becomes stronger and stronger with every battle that Link is. You earn: A falling moon to the head.
Man, I really wanted to play that game when it came around and never got around it. The card is really cool, but the mechanic feels as though it should be in a green card. You earn: A slightly used Gamecube.
Is this a reference to MLP or to Twlight? (or both?) Sorry, not familiar with either. As for the card, it will be almost always an unblockable 3/3, too good. You earn: Glitter (that should cover both my guesses.)
Hahaha so true. However, you forgot to add "even if the fate of a whole country is resting on her shoulders." You earn: A mockingjay emblem.
Uh, more commentary. Rather than discussing the "fictionality" of his persona, I'll just say that the card is quite good but I wouldn't ever play with it. You earn: the wisdom to never trivialize serious issues again.
