I just about fell out of my chair when I saw the guardian beast... it looks like a dadaist and an impressionist split a gallon of peach schnapps, and nine months later this came along.
The title bar and bar around the text box mirroring each other is a great touch.
I'm not a huge fan of the wasteland. It's well executed, but it shares a problem with a lot of other land alters. The towards the bottom looks like what you would see if you were staring down at the ground, but the rest looks like what you would see if you were looking ahead towards the horizon. The bottom doesn't match the top, and it is jarring.
This absolutely is not unique to your wasteland - anything where the horizon line is that close to the top has the same problem. It's a tough problem to solve. Some people do a "fade to black," and others just add something at the bottom, like a fence, to fill in the space.
The Wasteland is an example of Bigup using something to fill in the space. He did this by putting the audience in what looks like a depression in a rolling landscape.
The Creeping Tar Pit (not sure who) and Marsh Flats by Cardkitty are fade to black. It may be not completelt accurate to call the tar pit a fade to black because the original art fades to black, but it has the same effect of having nothing at the bottom.
The Darksteel Citadel by Lupe Woody and Academy Ruins by Libby Lou are both lower horizon lines which don't look awkards.
The Polluted Delta (not sure who) is an example of a high horizon line that just looks awkward.
I´m a big fan of "lone wolf & cub" (german Path to Exile Promo)
I've heard of the series, but haven't read it. However it looks quite awesome :D. Great black and white alter, i love when alteres to black and white, it's very special, since it reminds me of Manga, which i'm quite a fan of ^^,.
@ urbanlegend: really liking the Flats, Tar Pit, and Academy Ruins.
@ robiichi: nice work, it looks great!
A couple more I did recently. . .
I like this one, a lot. Could be the cleanest one I've done so far, in regards to texture of the paint, and smooth sharpie lines for that animated look. Invader ZiM for those who don't get the reference. I also re-read the flavour text once it was done, and it seemed to fit so well, I laughed.
Speaks for itself, really. Done at the request of a friend, and will probably revisit when I'm more capable with painting details. . . on another card, though . . . oh, and the thumbnail looks better than the full-view. Just saying >_<
Love the alters Ondal, love 'em. If you don't mind me asking, what did you use to make them? I would like to give it a try at your style since it fits me better than just doing the norm.
Those are amazing! I think I like the way you get the words all filled in the best. I have made the attempt at that several times and I can nevver get it exactly right.
I am working on a birds and I thought I'd put it up and see what people think. It is not finnished yet, I was thinking about adding a lady bug or some more flowers to round it out, but then again I am not sure if it is interesting enough without it.
@ondal: im really loving those pieces! very original
@yaug: those full-art are indeed FULL HAPINESS to my eyes, great color matching bro!
lovin those BOP too from red dragon..
@volrath: email me man, im not that expensive! hehe! we'll talk!

This thread is for competitive decks only. Your deck is not Grixis Control, as you said yourself. A serious decklist with shroud and counterspells belongs here, not a for fun/casual decklist with bad discard. Sorry, but your princess is in another castle.
The sword dude is actually some guy called Haohmaru from a game called Samurai Shodown, I believe. I didn't pick the characters, I just did the alters.
I just finished my first alter and have a few questions for the pros in this thread.
I wanted to do something simple just to get a feel for how the paint handles and such. I got a little overeager near the end and applied Krylon Matte Finish a few minutes after using Sharpie for the final outlines, causing a lot of the smudges. Just wondering:
-Is the varnish I'm using satisfactory?
-Are Sharpies acceptable for alters or should I be using a different type of pen?
-How long should I allow for the card to dry before I can apply a finish?
-How many layers do you guys use on average?
-How do you guys paint in such a way that it makes the brush strokes less visible? The paint is pretty rough and follows a path on my alter.
-If I'm just starting out should I get more colors than the primaries, black and white, and a basic skin tone?

1)Yes
2) Depends on what it is, for outlining most likely.
3) Depends. I would wait about 2-3 hours after you paint it.
4) N/a
5) Use a little bit of water when you paint, it helps to smooth everything out.
Also, you won't get much feedback if you just do Anime girls because they are both overdone and extremely cliche.

I love your style.
