I haven't gotten a clear answer yet. Is there a way to turn a common into a foil? I've heard that you can peel the back of a foil and place it ontop of a common, but it seems that theres some details missing here.

Nope. The foily part is not translucent. The card image is printed ontop of the foil. So if you blank it and print a copy of the common onto it, then it might work. You're stuck using a laser printer though because with inkjets, the ink won't stick to it.
Ok i just started recently and the biggest problem i have come to so far is coming up with one particular color which is my favorite on magic cards and was wondering if someone could help me find out how to mix acrylics to make it. Ok so you see the color of the blue stripes on spell snare and the neon blue ice on flashfreeze for the life of me i cannot find a way to make that color or that effect of color to extend cards like those.
Also was working on a land card and was putting down a base white so i could color it with another layer how do you cover the card with the base without warping it, but not leaving streak marks. Also which is a better base black or white?
I credited the art as "Ariokh", rather than "Ariokh at deviantart.com". Some may not appreciate this, as its not one of the three methods listed in the art forum for crediting artists, but Kraj goes on to say in the rules that "the rule of thumb" is that if a google search can find the artist using the information you provided, then its fine, and indeed, googling "Ariokh" locates his deviantart page.
Sorry if I'm asking things that are verboten or already done or just cheesy, but I asked for this in the Altered Art thread in response to Bigup's set of foil, old style Power and was directed to this thread.
I'd like to proxy up the standard hard to find fare (P9, Drains, Workshops, etc.) in foil. I'm pretty sure that through trial and error I'll be able to get the hardware side done (stripping ink, printing onto adhesive paper or onto the card, and all that jazz) but I have no access to images of the cards beyond the pics on gatherer or magiccards.info. I have PS, but have no idea how to use it. In fact I can't even draw a box in the thing, let alone do anything useful, but that's beside the point. Anyway, I've been looking through threads for hours and everyone seems to say different things. First I needed 300 dpi scans, then 600 dpi scans, then I couldn't use scans but had to use MSE and make my own card files, and now it looks like I need .psd files made from scratch. Well, I'm lost. All I need are files that I can print that will make descent looking foil proxies of the cards mentioned above. I am putting time into this, so I'd like it them to look nice, but at the same time I'm not going to be trying to convince anyone they're the new Judge foils. I know some of this is most likely "eye of the beholder" stuff, but can anyone tell me if grabbing scans from the .info page and resizing them will do the trick for me, or do I need something better? And if I need something better, can anyone help me out, because if it's down to me needing to use PS or just buy the real things, I'd best go grab second and third jobs.
I have been placing a transparent sheet with a printed image in front of it so that the foil will show through (Foil card was cleaned with Acetone).
Is there an specific way to print directly on the card instead?
Only laser printers will work for that i think, since the heat prevelant in the printing process helps adhere the ink to the surface. Inkjet ink doesn't adhere to the plastic very well. I mean, at the risk of ruining your inkjet printer, you could spray an adhesive onto the foil, then run it through. Then afterwards, spray a sealant and hope the stickiness gets covered.
This is probably quite an unusual and difficult request, but it's there for the taking if you want to try.
I've been trying to make alterations to this image (from the cover of The Myths of Magic), but have reached the end of my ability. Current progress is in the second attached file, which contains a zipped XCF (essentially the GIMP equivalent of a PSD--I don't have access to Photoshop but can export the XCF to a basic image format if need be). At this point there are two things that need doing: color in the space where the axe blade used to be, and cut that extra character out of the lower left, replacing it with a continuation of the background (while leaving the energy ball or whatever it is intact).
Like I said, this may be too much to ask--the whole reason I'm asking is because it's certainly too much for me. But mize well find out if there's anyone who thinks otherwise...just in case there is.
Hey I want to start altering all my EDH cards, I want them to remain tournament legal and be done in a way that they can still be shufflled. Would it be better to print them or paint? I am very skilled with digital arts and painting so I can do both, I just dont know techniques with the cards or which would be more functional and clean. Any PM with help would be great or u can email me at fromm2020@gmail.com
Could one of you use the alt. art Liliana Vess (the duel deck one), chandra ablaze's close up art, and Nissa Revane's art and make a wallpaper of them? Blend the art into each other, stuff like that. I'm no artist...Please and thank you :).
A cool or snappy saying would really be awesome, if you can come up with something.

Anyone have or know where to get a good sample of each of the mana symbols? and I'm talking about each image being at least 300x300 pixel dimensions. I'm looking to do some work by combining mana symbols and what not. Something that I can use as some good art stock for any other project as well.
Oh, and preferrably black and white color only. If it's in color, it'd be nice if it was one flat color of that mana type.
i was told by a friend of mine that thier are cardart contests here and im really into magic and would like to submit work here, but im lost as to where i submit and all that????

I would like to request artists for a set I'm making entitled NORDLAND. The set has a viking theme, in addition to others. If you are interested in making some card art (not the card frames or anyhting else) please PM me or post in the thread.

dude, that's perfect actually. I would of never thought that our wiki had images that big. They'll be perfect for some art stock. Thanx for the help!
every search i tried earlier today just brought back really small images, or something that someone had already changed up.
