I came across this guy, a mythic rare. I thought they only released the other 4 or 5 that have been the center of debate. On that note, with all the talk of how these new ones came about and the demise of the old ones I was thinking of how I'd warm up to them. Problem is I like a continuum and be able to follow characters throughout storylines. I loved when Jodah showed up, although he seemed like wasted space I was glad to see him. If they keep these 'walkers interesting and show up with the basic characters at times. I feel we'd warm up to them. With the planeswalker novels they should. I wonder if we'll see them talk about the past 'walkers or seek some of them out.
Hmm, where did that card come from? (the one in your spoiler).
As for planeswalkers. I can't remember if the older ones got bumped off or not but if you go by what the novels say, then there should still be old planeswalkers about. Nicol Bolas is still kicking. Yes, we did have a few get bumped off but not all of them.
As far as "the mending" is concerned, I hope that didn't mean that all planeswalkers sparks yet ignited are turned into the neobradywalker sparks. That would kinda suck. But as far as I know, we still have some original planeswalkers around somewhere.
There are still many old school 'walkers about. If you check the Wiki under List of planeswalkers there have been 23 traditional 'walkers under the new revisions and many more under the old. Many of the ones who are still alive and have their sparks are very obscure, however there are some name ones, including Dakkon Blackblade, Jaya Ballard and Serra who have (IMO) unconfirmed deaths, and may still be alive.
I believe, that unfortunately, it meant so.
Maybe they didn't say that clearly enough, but they did say that the Mending defined new balance between planeswalkers' sparks and fabric of multiverse.
Beside of that, you can just look at what Brady&Co thought about old 'walkers. They wanted to get rid of them for good. The last real planeswalker - Nicol Bolas - was saved by Scott, but he's probably out of Multiverse for good anyway. (I do believe though, that in faaaar future some new storyline Team and writers could bring him and old 'walkers back).
Rats. Oh well. I guess maybe they could always bring old planeswalkers back or something. Either that or ret-con a good portion of the Time Spiral cycle (notice that it is a Downward Spiral in this case, *sadpanda*).
Nicol Bolas is still alive and kickin it as far as I'm conscerned. They can't tell me otherwise. Which is all that matters now? But really by the way you said it it sounds like he has as much of a chance of re-appearing in a future magic novel as Yawgmoth does. Which we will NOT get into that tangent, please. Anyway, here's to Brady and his band of noobwalkers.
I'm still waiting for some novel/cycle wherein Nicol Bolas goes totally nuts due to him being encased in his self-made realm and goes on a rampage to kill every bradywalker. Unless the rifts are going to be activated once he comes out of his realm that is.
It would be nice to see him having an easy time killing off the bradywalkers one... by one.

Yeah Bolas is still out there but they disappeared him like they did with Karn. I wonder if anyone will find the brotherstones (might/weak) doubtfull. Maybe Gix has them in Phyrexia. How is Phyrexia still afloat? Maybe they forgot about it and hearing talk about it they will just collapse it.
I thought Urza lost the powerstones when Gix kicked his butt. I know Gix wanted them, I thought they did infact come out. Didn't Xantcha use them or one for the fireball/portal?
From the WIKI:
the two stones remained inside Urza for the rest of his life, aiding in his preparations for the coming Phyrexian Invasion. Prior to his death, the only time they were removed was in Serra's Realm, where its mad guardian Radiant tore the stones from Urza's eyes. This would have killed Urza, but Radiant then tried to combine the stones, which only resulted in causing a massive explosion that destroyed the angel and restored Urza. The two stones were removed one last time following Yawgmoth's invasion of Dominaria. In order to defeat him, the Legacy had to be completed through Gerrard Capashen combining the stones inside Karn. Gerrard plucked out the stones, killing Urza, then pushed them together inside Karn's chest, triggering a massive burst of mana that drove Yawgmoth from Dominaria. This also caused Karn to transform into planeswalker, in whom the stones merged, granting Karn the accumulated knowledge of both Glacian and Urza.
Yeah, I really wish they shoo'd away Karn. I don't necessarily minded that they bumped off some of the planeswalkers, but Karn???? Do their (or Brady's) treachery know no bounds?!!?!
I'd be fine with something happening to Karn, just not the way they did it. Its incredibly vague, and Karn needs to be alive and planeswalker for the last events of Mirroden to make any sense. Mirroden still takes place far in the future right?
We actually don't know when the Mirrodin events happen. It might be that time on Argentum passes much faster than time on Dominaria or other planes, in the same manner that gravity is different on Mercadia than on other planes.

Bolas - "Okay, I'm back. What the hell happened?
Jace - "Hi, I'm a planeswalker! Wanna play Yu-Gi-Oh?"
Bolas - "That's nice, kid. Your last name isn't Umezawa, is it?"
Jace - "My mommy loves me thiiiiis much." *holds out arms very wide*
Bolas - "Wait, you're not a 'walker. Can you do this?" *creates his own world* *wields an arsenal of mana* *is involved in a plot that requires character depth*
Jace - "I like anime."
Bolas - "... You did say your last name was Umezawa, right?"

Hahahaha. I would sig quote that for sure but I don't have space to fit it all (even if I got rid of the ego quotes).
On another note, Sarkhan Vol guy looks kind of badass. Even though, he's a bradywalker.
I'm telling you, if they keep them around and not in one or two storylines and let us follow them we'll warm up to them, and want more stories involving them. That is as long as they don't just cycle them through with new ones every other cycle, and forget about the past ones. We do need familiarity.
@ Maybe Eid, To funny, good one. I am upset with the lose of the old 'walkers and didn't take kindly to these new ones but there here and I'm hopeing that I will be able to follow them.

Well, at least I'm not saying I'm not going to hate them entirely. If the Creative team and whoever ends up making the storylines/novels for the bradywalkers really good, then I guess that's fine. But still, after it's all said and done, they're still bradywalkers...
What happens when Brady's successor (please, dear god, tell me there's a successor) decides that the bradywalkers are too powerful? Are we going to have Meandering 2.0, nuke all of them, replace them with gerbils, and call them planeswalkers?
Man, I wonder how many acronyms we can come up with if that happens.

I certainly hope not. Unless they print some really good bradywalkers now. But flavor wise, I don't seem them too powerful at all (well compared to real Planeswalkers).
From what I've been hearing about these "bradywalkers" and WotC's decision to have this Mythic Rare slot, I would have to guess that Sarkhan Vol isn't going to be too special since apparently Mythic Rares are supposedly suppose to help out balancing card prises in standard. So if they make it really powerful, then I don't see how that would help balance out the prices.
Mythic rares won't balance prices, WotC has no idea what a secondary market card's value will be, that has been demonstrated over and over again by the price level chase rares can achieve.
