There is a green Dark Ritual, but it costs 4 and produces all 5 colors. Green is more permanent mana accel than one shot. If they do a colorshift of Dark Ritual, it'll be red.

You're talking about Channel the Suns right? I knew about that, but I guess that combo will never exist then.

Why in the most outlandish situation you can think of, are you ghost quartering your own land rather than just using a fetchland? Don't get me wrong, I've ghost quartered lands for mana fixing in limited, but if we're going to go for ridiculous combos here, why not use better cards?

In this situation, you get triple landfall instead of the double landfall from a fetch. You get the ghost quarter, the plains from the flagstones, and the land from the ghost quarter.

Three card combo. Although at that point, why not just cast emrakul, the aeons torn instead of a werewolf...
Question, are you doing this as a mental exercise or do you want a deck that cheats out a fat creature early? Because there are better choices for the creature. If you use an extra card to cast a creature early, you want that creature to have an enter the battlefield effect (so that you get something even if it dies) or some kind of protection.
I'd rather have a turn 3 Blastoderm than a turn 2 grizzeled outcast, for instance.

I'm trying to throw out a fat creature fast. I saw a grizzled outcast flipped on my table in my room, and just thought it'd be nice to hit with that second turn.
Yeah, but any format you can do that it, Demigod is just gonna eat a Swords to Plowshares. Way to burn three cards to gain 5 life! Or Path to Exile, where you burn 3 cards and get a land! Yay!
Seems just as flawed and easy to fail as lots of other combos.
Why lightning bolt, when you can Assault Strobe your lynx. Now you're doing 18.
Good point. In fact, I destroyed the flagstones without using the white. Slap a Bone Saw or Holy Strength on the Lynx and you've got 20 damage turn 2. Hell, we're in happy christmas land, let's use Mutagenic Growth and that growth spell that you can let them gain life for to play it for free.

You're swinging for 8 damage on turn two. And if you build the deck properly, you can do this in a somewhat consistent manner unlike the crazy combos that will never show up in your opening hand.
Don't forget lotus petal that card is pretty good at +1'ing your mana. But a first turn grizzled outcast seems to be pointless when you could go turn 1 ad nauseam or something ridiculous for 5 mana instead of getting a (potential) 7/7 on your turn 2 provided they don't play a spell of their own.

T1: Flagstones of Trokair, Lynx
T2: Ghost Quarter. Destroy your own Flagstones, fetch out a Sacred foundry from the flagstones and a mountain from the quarter. Use the mountain to cast assault strobe, mutagenic growth, then any combination of Fireblast (sacking both your lands) or another Mutagenic Growth
Edit - True, lotus petal shenanigans. Adventuring Gear comes to mind.

I think sentiments like that just go to show the game won't die to power creep.
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.

I think a red Dark Ritual is long overdue.
Rite of Flame got banned in Modern, and it was normally only 1 for 2 or 1 for 3 at best. What makes you think they will let it go off at 1 for 3 flat?

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
1 mana to generate 3 mana is degenerate without a severe drawback. You break a foundation of the game when one player can make turn 3 plays on turn 1 (or turn 5 plays on turn 1!).

Ban lists have a twofold effect. They control the metagame, and by extension, the value system of the game.
Suppose I use two Rite of Flame to cast Hill Giant at my kitchen table. There's nothing broken about that. The real culprit is combo, but to control combo takes more effort than Wizards is willing to invest. They won't let a red ritual in, but if they did, it wouldn't be a problem in itself.

Hmm. Interesting! That could work. But that's banking on a first hand of Swamp, Chancellor of the Tangle, Elvish Spirit Guide, Dark Ritual, Grizzled Outcasts, X, Y. A five card combo? Not too reliable.

Demigod of Revenge.
T1: Flagstones of Trokair, Steppe Lynx
