[Edit: Well it seems the good people at WotC have noticed that they shouldn't have posted that article yet and took it down.]
We're only a couple of months away from the release of Duel Decks: Divine vs. Demonic!
As you no doubt remember from our announcement last December, it's coming out on April 10. We didn't show you the box back then. That was so we could show it to you now!
That is a lovely display box! We mention that because the people who design the display boxes do a lot of work and hardly ever get mentioned. Let's take one of those boxes out and get a good look at it!
Very nice! It's both divine ... and demonic.
Oh! And stop by again on Friday for a special Divine vs. Demonic surprise!
Lord of the Pit in foil Mythic... But atleast Akroma is confirmed
Black
1. Lord of the Pit - tenth edition
2. Fallen Angel - eighth edition
3. Reiver Demon - mirrodin
4. Kuro, Pit Lord - champions
5. Promise of Power - mirrodin
(U/B) is :symbu: or :symub: and the same is true for the other 9 hybrid symbols with their two colors in for the last 2 leters of the code. ((2/B) and co are :sym2b:)
Alternatively {UB} or {2B} in [mana] tags are (U/B) or (2/B) T is :symtap: and T will give T in [mana] tags
Ugh, one more thing to make every black player cringe. I know we all knew the stupid Lord of the Pit was coming, but they couldn't at least give us a fighting chance with Spirit of the Night?
Well done Wizards, well done. /applauds sarcastically

Well, the new art is pretty awesome. And I'm pretty sure the angels will beat the demons faces back to hell. But I heard it was going to be almost as scarce as the From the Vault: Dragons was.

My signature was created by Zaphod of High~Light Studios. He's brilliant.
Lord of the Pit as a mythic?!?!?! O_o Really???? Flavorwise I guess it'll work, but I doubt anyone outside of using this will want one. Albeit the colectors though. It'll end up, most likely for most, be Magic: the Gathering Dust in a binder.
Now the Akroma will be perfect for my precious. This will make it worth picking this up. I am very curious to what else is in it?
And the basic level of intelligence to work at wizards has further dropped. Hey i have an idea, lets do a new theme deck... actually i honestly spent 5 minutes trying to make up a joke that's a worse example of this unbalance but i couldn't come up with anything to do it justice. that's how dumb this is. unless black has damnation and white DOESNT have wrath, then this is just dumb. go ahead and buy em up white fans, enjoy the spring of white.......

Maybe the black deck will have enough answers to the white one to make them balanced, despite the overpoweredness of Akroma compared to Lord of the pit.
I don't think they'd purposely make the black one extremely weaker.
Although these are the 2 main cards, we still need to see the decklist to fairly judge these 2 decks better
I doubt you played back in the day when cracking this guy in a pack was just about the best thing ever. He's pretty much the quintessential demon in magic's history, and I would be disappointed to see any other demon as the centerpiece for this box.
Media is not making me steal. But in a way is like the story of the very hot girl with the short skirt teasing the old sick guy with a history of rape.
I think Dash Hopes will likely be in the black deck.
Ugh. Just. Ugh. I would always pay my five life to force an Akroma into play.
Honestly, Black doesn't have much that can deal with an Akroma. Unless they're reprinting Mutilate, which would be sweet, since that's what a black sweeper SHOULD be like.

Lol. When I first read the thread title I thought why would we care if DVD's are coming in different packaging. I've been thinking to much today.
Love the new artwork for both. I too though am very suspicious of the white one being overpowered against the black by getting Akroma.
Dash Hopes would be pretty cool in the Black deck. I use to love that card for some weird reason.

No, I started in Onslaught. Sure he's iconic and all, and I have respect for the game's past, but it just irks me as a black player that they didn't give us a better option.

So true. 'Tis the root of all the "sac x or this demon beats on you" mechanics.
It seems to me that there could be plenty of spike in this stuff anyway. Demonic Consultation would be neat.
BULL! What is this crap, an amazing card and a really crappy one! sadly, this will sell because the akroma is there which will make Wizards think they did it right. BLAST!
I suppose we should be thankful it's not Yawgmoth Demon or something even worse from Ice Age.
The only real contenders were: Spirit of the Night - A reserved card, only possible under the "premium" exception to the policy (and against the spirit of the policy regardless, premium was intended for Oversided at the time, not foil.) SotN is the only legendary Demon that makes even a little sense here (flying being one of the requirements). Lord of the Pit - The most iconic non-legendary Demon in Magic... it wouldn't be right to use something other then LotP unless it was a legend. Something new - Possibly a Pre-print from Alara Reborn (similar to Hellkite Overlord from FTV:Dragons.
Yeah, I was hoping for Spirit, but can't say I am surprised with Lord of the Pit.

Gee I can't wait to crack open a pack of M10 this summer and get the newly mythic Lord of the Pit. I was so desperately hoping for a Spirit of the Night reprint. Oh well, it should still be cool to pick up a new art Akroma for "cheap."
Spirit and Akroma mirror well on Form (splashieness)
Akroma and Reiver mirror well on card strength (either one runs all over the other deck fairly quickly)
But Reiver Demon isn't Iconic like Lord of the Pit. If the Mythic wasn't going to be a Legendary Demon, Lord of the Pit was the most likely.

My hope was that Divine would have Akroma and Angel of Retribution or Angel of Salvation while Demonic would have Spirit of the Night and Reiver Demon.
