Yes, they're legal. However, if you're mixing Alpha and non-Alpha cards, you must use opaque sleeves that hide the difference in the shape of the corners. From the Magic Floor Rules:
102. Authorized Cards
Alpha cards (cards from the first print run of the core set) may be used in decks containing non-Alpha cards only if all cards are placed in completely opaque sleeves and only if the sleeves could not be considered marked. If sleeves are not used, Alpha cards may be used only in decks that consist exclusively of Alpha cards.

This thread is full of idiots... Lightning Bolt is NOT being reprinted.
Many times has a writer in Wizards said so, because of the plain and simple fact that it's too powerful for what it costs. x/3 creatures shouldn't be able to die at instant speed for one mana without a signifigant drawback. (like PTE giving you a land)
I absolutely guarantee that LB will not be printed in M10, and you can quote me on that.
Opaque is a word borrowed from french (as are so many english words, english being the language of borrowing words ;p) that means the opposite of transparent. Something that is opaque is not see-through.
Alpha cards are legal indeed, but only in Vintage or Legacy format tournaments. For more information about the tournament formats, you can browse the net or the mtg wiki.

The interesting thing about us legacy players is that we consider Force of Will, Dark Ritual, Blood Moon, Tarmogoyf and Swords to Plowshare to be fair.
Alpha cards are legal indeed, but only in Vintage or Legacy format tournaments.
Or in formats where the card in question has been reprinted in a legal set. For example, Alpha Giant Growths are legal in Standard tournaments (with the right sleeves).

This is not a correct statement, and useless_kodama has already posted the correct policy citation regarding the mixture of Alpha with non-Alpha cards. Cards in Alpha can be used in Standard or Extended tournaments equally, provided the card was reprinted in a set that is legal for the format. An example of such a card is Fireball, which was reprinted in Mirrodin block. A version from Alpha is indeed legal in Extended. A Wrath of God from Alpha would be legal in Standard.
True, true... I dunno why I wasn't thinking straight. I meant the alpha set is only legal in Vintage or Legacy tournament, and not alpha cards in themselves.

Giant Growth is a bad example since it's actually not standard legal... But yeah, Alpha Llanowar Elves, Fireball, etc would be standard legal

Well, colored sleeves can be opaque. But they aren't necessarily.
