He has extraordinary memory and is an analog gamer. He and I either play as one player, or we have custom-modified several games with a device called a slate and stylus to imprint dots on cards. I've told him about Magic, and we have played with the assistance of a friend who tells him what cards he has in his hand (I, of course, am happy to tell him what's on the battlefield). Is there any way he could participate in a Magic tournament of any kind?
I've heard that they printed cards with brail for a few blind players, but I honestly think that was a myth. I'd contact WotC though and explain the situation.
Isn't it allowed to ask a judge to inform you about the card's text in a tournament if the card is unrecognizable or textless?
Problem solved.

The Sage is occupied with the unspoken
and acts without effort.
Teaching without verbosity,
producing without possessing,
creating without regard to result,
claiming nothing,
the Sage has nothing to lose.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
I would suggest putting brail on the cards just to mark them so he knows what they are, but I realized that would be marking the cards, and I'm not sure how that'll fly with judges.

Well, we were thinking if we slate & stylus'd his cards, then put them in sleeves, he would be able to read them through the sleeves. He can easily memorize card text, and when we played and had a third person tell him what they did, he didn't need it repeated. He would just have to play against someone that actually said what they were doing instead of the people I play against who say nothing at all. Is that workable?

There's no way that would be allowed in tournaments. Too much confusion, too much game delay, too much noise, too annoying, etc.

But calling a judge for every single card involved in each game?

Please use card tags when you're asking a question about specific cards: [c]Serra Angel[/c] -> Serra Angel.
EDIT:
This is extremely helpful. I will speak to my local FNM staff and see what they say. Thank you.
