Ob Nixilis was an old walker who lost his spark after the mending. Old walkers could change into any form they wanted, and Ob chose to hang out as a demon. This is exactly the same as Serra. She was a planeswalker in angel form, but she was not an angel planeswalker.
Eh, that's pretty silly too in my opinion. What next? Should we expect a Tree of Redemption getting a spark, just because it COULD be written in if they REALLY wanted to do it? So yeah, if we have no reason to really believe it could happen except that "Wizards might run out of ideas," then that's not convincing in the least bit.
I swear, if Avacyn is a neowalker, I'm going to be so disappointed...
If Ob Nix was just a planeswalker "in demon form," the couldn't Avacyn be a planeswalker "in angel form"?
No more furry , please. Ajani is lame enough. I hate how they need to antrophormize everything. Just give me a triceratops walker
You do realize how hypocritical it is to ***** about them anthropomorphise everything and then want a triceratops walker (Which would have to be anthro), right?
How did that cause him to become a demon?!? It may have inhibited him from transforming into something else, but certainly didn't make him into it (if that wasn't his true form to begin with, which we can neither confirm nor deny given the little information we have about him).
If Sarkhan got stuck in Form of the Dragon, then he's a dragon.
This is what happened to Ob Nixilis. We had confirmation about this from one of the artists some while back. While not the most official source, it's more official than any other info we've gotten about him.
Ob lost his spark while in the form of a demon, without the spark, he could not transform again. Ipso facto, he is a demon now.

Thats when you add personality onto an inanimate object, so i fail to get your argument. Its not like they made a PW stuffed bear or rock. It is a fantasy setting afterall, sometimes there will be "fur" or other non human traits.
Since the Next block seems to be pointing towards and Ocean theme block I can see
Kiora Atua being a new plainswalker. She's already one, but just not in card form.
If so she'll most likely have something to do with creating leviathan, kraken, etc ocean monster tokens along with Merfolk buff.

Seriously, an ocean themed block would be awesome, but difficult to pull off.
As for non-human planeswalkers I'd like to see?
A planeswalker from any of the following sentient races would be cool:
Gorgon
Orc
Dwarf
Sphinx
A non-evil dragon
And of Course: A Merfolk in the form of Kiora Atua.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
So Sarkhan is now a Dragon who always transforms himself in human form?
Can you please give the source where that artist said Sarkhan got stuck as a dragon (in the card Form of the Dragon)?
EDIT: I realized that by Sarkhan being able to transform it doesn't really make much sense for Ob to be stuck in that form. Either he doesn't have that magic, he prefers that form or he is indeed a demon "by nature."
Yeah, you're crossing metaphors here. Back in the day, as I'm sure you are aware, walkers didn't have physical form. Hence, whatever form they chose was what they were. When a planeswalker lost their spark, they were locked into whatever form they had at the time, as evidenced by Teferi and Karn both in Time Spiral. However, the mending returned all current walkers to their natural forms, as evidenced by Liliana and Bolas growing ancient in a short amount of time.
What I'm getting at is Ob Nixilis didn't transform himself into a demon. He had no form, and chose to be a demon. When he lost his spark, he was stuck as such. There was no transformative magic at work like in the theoretical example of Sarkhan being stuck as a dragon (which you really managed to miss the point of that hypothetical.)*
(Smokestack, in case you were unaware is Igor Kieryluk (sp?))
*Sarkhan isn't stuck as a dragon. You missed the "If" in that sentence. IF Sarkhan used form of the dragon and got stuck, he would be a dragon. IF he got stuck, he would no longer be human because he would be a dragon. The situations are not equal in the comparison, but I was using it as a "If A then B" scenario. In the end being "stuck" means he couldn't return to being human. You seemed to have skipped that part.
I'm still waiting to see more about the myojin who transports a newly blind Toshi to what I have assumed is a different plane. Seemed like a PW but also a spirit, which I find hard to put together. I may be off base, but have been wondering for some time now about that whole scenario.

While I'm unfamiliar with the specific situation in question, it's worth remembering that there are methods of traveling between planes that don't require having the planeswalker spark.

I'll get this one Barry.
Planeswalkers are beings that travel the Blind Eternities with the use of a "spark". If you use a spark then you are a planeswalker.
There are however plenty of beings in the Multiverse who can travel between planes without a spark. Some examples being The Myojin of Night's Reach, The Elder Eldrazi (having come from the blind eternities themselves), and Cosmic Larva.
Think of it this way, humans have discovered several ways to fly, but we can't fly naturally. Birds however can fly naturally. It's the same way with travel between planes. Some use a spark some don't.

EDIT 2:
I thought it got spilled that the next block is Ravnica again...
It was confirmed somewhere near INN release time that Ravnica will NOT be the next setting. I'll dig for the link in the mill.
Toshi was transported to Dominaria where his bloodline produce Tetsuo Umezawa, the Slayer of Nicol Bolas.
Furthermore Night's Reach could only travel through the planes due to the rift that connected Kamigawa and Dominaria at Madara. Bolas sealed that rift by shoving Leshrac into it.
I dont know about you, but I would love to see a male Angel PW. I dont know why, but I think it would interesting if they explore why it seems all angels are exclusively female by showing that the few Angels that are male are either PW or exist due to planar unrest (Malach of the Dawn)
Where was that stated? I have read only a few Magic novels, so I am not entirely familiar with the various flavor and storyline aspects of the game.
His name is Ob Nixilis, the Fallen, and I hope that he appears again in a later story and agree that his existence does support the argument that angels and demons can become planeswalkers.
Ob was a human when he became a walker and as walkers they can change themselves to be angels or demons. Demon just happened to be the form he was in when he lost his spark so he became trapped in that form.
Some of you may think that you have made great mistakes in your lives, and perhaps you have. But let me ask you this.... did you ever play strip poker with two fat chicks and win?
I truly believe a werewolf Planeswalker would be a cool idea... I don't see the reason why they were like "Nah, we're going raise your hopes the crush everything you hoped for". Garruk was cool and all, in fact I'll even admit that he was one of my favorite Planeswalkers up until he stole my werewolf planeswalkers position!...
*Goes into the emo corner and starts to cut.... all my cards of Garruk into pieces*
As for non-Human Planeswalkers, I am sure there will be others introduced. I am still crossing my fingers for my Werewolf Planeswalker Persona. I would really love to see it come and be like a super awesome card that gave werewolves more stability. =P
@lightbulb : Goodluck with that, people rarely give source information on this site when you ask for it. Your best bet would be to google it for the information.

I am the Outcast and the Loner of this world,
I don't need the strength of others to survive,
I only need to rely upon myself to stay alive...
The trust you have in others, is not a strength,
The trust you have is a liability and a weakness,
While others will fail you, you will never fail yourself...
While the Pack might be stronger than the Loner,
The Loner is still stronger then anyone in the Pack,
The only strength you can rely upon is your own...

A planeswalker with two subtypes? Blasphemy!
Also, awesome idea!

IIRC, Ob Nixilis had his spark stripped from him causing him to become a demon.

Here's the post, and this is a bit of a catch 22. The card clearly shows he's "creature type-demon" but the statement is that he's not a demon.
So in other words, he wasn't originally a demon.
