While Maro & co made a big deal about incorporating classic horror tropes into Innistrad, there's one big trope that was left out of the set. In most stories when a normal person is bitten by a vampire, warewolf, or zombie, they become another one of those creatures. Olivia Voldaren covers this for vampires, but we have no zombie or warewolf that is able to turn "un-infected" creatures into one of them. Will we see cards that do this in sets 2 & 3 of INN block? Perhaps something like:
Infectious Zombie 2B
Creature - Zombie {unc}
Whenever Infectious Zombie deals damage to a creature, that creature become a zombie in addition to its other types and is black.
2/2
And/or something similar for warewolves. It would make a lot of sense (afterall, watch any zombie movie made since Night of the Living Dead and watch how many times the characters are concerned about being bitten) and could provide some interesting gameplay mechanic, especially if they continue the tribal sub-theme (you gain control of any zombies when they die, or something similar? Could be cool!). It's a fairly big flavor hole that Wizards has left in the block, and I can't imagine them leaving it like that for the entire block.
not every trope has to be a mechanic. some are just alluded to. anyway theres a little proof that werewolves are infectious on Innistrad.
And as for zombies, well the zombies in innistrad aren't the bio hazard generated kind, they're the frankenstein kind. Did frankenstein ever bite anyone?
Asking people to remove quotes in their signatures is tyranny! If I can't say something just because someone's feelings are hurt then no one would ever be able to say anything! Political correctness is stupid.
Which is why he said it's ok for a few select mythics. If they turned this into a regular mechanic, it would be a nightmare.
The Zombies of Innistrad aren't the virus-spreading type from modern movies. They're either the undead eat-you type of classic horror, or flesh golems like Frankenstein's Monster (allow me to remind you that Frankenstein was a scientist, not a monster, so him biting anyone would be extremely awkward indeed).
As for wErewolves, there is the aforementioned Furor of the Bitten, and I honestly think we have enough weird new rules to keep track of for wErewolves as it is. If you wanted to get really technical, Vampires should be sacrificed if there's a day-side werewolf out, and werewolves should all attack each turn if able.
WHy would there be major memory issues? Just put a marker on it. Undead taking a bite and turning another creature into a zombie makes perfect sense for "classic" horror.
Looks like it's not happening. I imagine it was similar to the decision to discontinue tribal where a lot of the time it would just do nothing and wasn't worth the extra complexity for a little bit of flavour.
While it's not from INN, Lim-Dul reanimated things into zombies.
Have to agree, black got old school zombies that eat your brains, blue got flesh golem zombies. It looks like black got the old school vampires, flying, self growing, while red got the "new" flamboyant in your face vampires. Green werewolves seem bigger/stronger and the red ones seem more "rage" to me. Blue and white spirits are well.... spirits.

Werewolves are apparently not infectious in innistrad, well at least not in the normal sense according to todays Savor the Flavor article.
Apparently some kind of suppernatural affect picks out a human and adds the "essence of the wild" to it, either giving it a second soul or splitting their original soul, thus giving the person a "civilized" human side, and a "wild" side. Both sides struggle for dominance (thus representing the transform mechanic), and once the "wild" half takes dominance (usually during a full moon), the person runs into the wild and meets up with a howlpack. They take the new werewolf on its first hunt, at the end of which it transforms fully for the first time. It then usually reverts (like most werewolves) in the morning.
It was also noted that stress or strong emotion could trigger the transformation.
Basically each time the wild side becomes dominant, the transformation is triggered.
Interresting stuff.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
While many of the major point have already been discussed, there could be design space (aura maybe) that transforms monster creatures into humans. This would really spice up limited, and would maybe only affect Werewolves, Vampires and Zombies.

Vampiric transformation is generally one way, as is Zombie transformation.
I would not be surprised however, to see a DFC that transforms a human into a vampire (but not the other way around).

I feel they covered this with Endless Ranks of the Dead. While it may not turn other creatures into Zombies, it certainly covers the spreading of Zombification that leads to the overwhelming numbers of the walking dead (certainly Zombies best strategy in any movie, book, whatever).
For Zombies that's a new idea. Classic zombies were just animated corpses. It wasn't until realitively recently that Zombies became "you get bit, you become one".
I have no idea about Vampires or werewolves, but I'd hazard a guess that those tropes are also newish.

Yeah that's the Voodoo origin of Zombies. It was some kind of curse that brought them back. In reality, they were never really dead they were given some kind of substance that put them in pretty much a coma and when they came back to life they were sorta drugged (at least that's what I've heard about it.)
I think the infectious bite then came about in the 1970s with George Romeo's Night of the Living Dead (Fun Tip: He actually wanted to make a movie based on what would become I Am Legend but was denied the rights).
Looks like it's not happening. I imagine it was similar to the decision to discontinue tribal where a lot of the time it would just do nothing and wasn't worth the extra complexity for a little bit of flavour.
Ah, well I guess that answers that then, plus today's Planeswalker's Guide to INN article that explains that lycanthropy on INN is the result of the "Spirit of the Wild" deciding to randomly mess with people rather than a specific infection or curse shows that they're putting their own spin on warewolves.

I am really glad they decided to mix it up and keep them separate.
Only special vampires make new vampires.
Zombies are made in labs, not just by being bitten by zombies.
Werewolves are influenced by the spirit of the wild.
I would really have detested a set that often ended in games with Black zombie vampire werewolves on the field.

Since the monster is effectively Frankenstein's son, so I'd say it's okay to call him Frankenstein, Frank, or Franky-pants.
I'll keep this short. What keeps werewolf turning from presenting itself as an aura? It would definitely have less memory issues.
Edit: Something like this:
:1mana::symr::symg:
Enchantment - Aura

Enchanted creature gets +1/+1 and is a Werewolf in addition to it's other types.

Actually, Doctor Frankenstein was the monster, his creation just wanted to be accepted. (It's all in the book, which is quite a good read).

Yeah I see no reason NOT to do this. We already have Delver of Secrets, Cloistered Youth, Garruk 3.0.
You could just put a triggered ability when blocked/blocking to transform after combat phase.

You forgot to mention white and green. Their humans should turn creatures into humans, like in real life. I know everyone I've ever bitten has turned into a human (I'm human btw)

Well, if you go by the Universal movies its more like a family curse that overtakes their minds than a monsterous individual.
The confusion between the naming of Dr. Frankenstein and his monster is so common that its almost become proper to call the monster "Frankenstein" outright. Its been that way since Bride of Frankenstein.
