With the last printing of WWK around the corner I was thinking a good way for wizards to address the soaring costs of Jace 2.0 might be to do a foil textless reprint as a player reward card. To my knowledge it would make him the first mythic to get such a treatment but why not they did cryptic command. I think this might be a good solution to the Jace price issues as it would put more of him into circulation and drive attendance at FNM while still giving people a chance to unload theirs before the reprint "tanked the value". Anyway I'd love to hear what people think of the idea one way or the other.
I think that it is more probable to have a full art reward than a textless reward because until now all textless rewards are instants or sorceries, and the inconvinience to have a permanent without text on it will lead to a lot of people asking again and again and again what does he does.
And even as a full art card I believe it is far fetched, for now, as the planeswalkers have a completely different frame.
But then again, Magic have surprised us in the past... so anything can happen.
we've had four foil promos so far...
wrath of god
damnation
cryptic command
lightning bolt
that's white, black, blue, red. seems a green one is coming up next. but who knows? we could get an artifact or land. in any case, i doubt we'll ever get a mythic MPR card, never mind a planeswalker.

Issue for me is that I`m not sure we can just sumarily call it a *problem* with soaring prices. Sure it sucks needing to pay that much for Jace:TMS but does that make it a problem in the eyes of stake-holder in WOTC or stake-holder in the card?
I imagine both would have a problem with the price suddenly collapsing as well.

Just to call you on your exaggeration; Jace's price has been constant since May 1st. Had you said his price was soaring from April 15th to May 1st, that would be fair.
And, no. They won't make anymore Jace2s while he is Standard legal. That would make a lot of people happy and make a lot of people angry. They'd rather print a cheap hoser than kill the value of an expensive problem.

Guess I could have gone with over inflated rather then soaring but whatever. I think we can all agree its been a long time (ever?) since theres been a single card so expensive in standard and some kind of reprint would be welcome. Yes it would suck to have your jaces devaluated but were not talking about something on the reserve list (which to my knowledge most people admit was a bad idea) its a card thats still in print but I dont want this to derail into an argument about the cost of jace. Just what are peoples oppinians / what they think would happen if wizards anounced tomorrow that Jace was next seasons player reward card.
I don't think they will do mostly to the fact that planeswalkers are generally very complicated cards, and making them textless could be very confusing to the general population.

Rk wren on his deck idea, and name for the deck called Nazi Control.
The Reason for this name, is similar to all american control, but with the colors and flavor of nazi style. I don't want to fight with historians on this one, but i feel like Vampires, the aristocratic and noble look of them, and surtenly power level that come with them, seem's trully "nazi". And Sarkhan The mad brings the 4th Reich to earth.

This, though I can't imagine what green card they would do as a textless promo...
Actually, here he's still going up... went from AU$80 to $95 in the leadup to the PTQ's
Not on ebay. Its finally into the $70-$75 range on ebay now. Most online stores are selling it between $75-$80 these days from what Ive seen. Ive been selling it at the shop I sell at for $75 and no higher (I base my prices on ebay prices) and though people commented that when other shops had them available they were about $5-$10 higher than my prices, it still never hit $95 that I saw to be sure. Maybe AT the PTQs or something, but you get the idea.
As for them reprinting the card as a textless promo (It wont happen).
Its in their best interests to not touch the card until they are completely sold out of the last of their worldwake product. So dont expect a promo or reprinting of the card at least until that happens, and most likely not until its ready to rotate from standard anyhow.

I doubt many people are buying WWK right now to get Jaces. If they were, his price would drop.

That was pretty interesting. But dropping a warship on me is cheating. Take it back!
If i was wizards and i wanted to make some money and drive up attendance at pre-releases you put jace TMS as the promo!!! You would have gotten record sales for that and made a ton of money!!! Same thing with baneslayer angel you want to make more money for m11? Give those away as promo cards!!!! But sadly wizards wants to make no money and wants us to have crappy rares like comet storm
We should buy more worldwake and stop complaining about the shortage.
I've opened two in 26 boosters, that's $40 gain in Jaces alone, plus a Percy and a playset of Highborns I sold expensive to a casual vampirophile.
You can't just sit there and expect the prize to drop, if you want them go buy WWK.
Buying WWK is like pulling a slot machine. You get Jace and win the house, you get Avenger of Zendikar/Abyssal Persecutor and make a small profit, you get a manland *maybe* Basilisk Collar/Stoneforge Mystic and break even, or you open anything else and lose money.
Worldwake is such a horrendous set to open. That's one of the driving forces behind Jace's huge price tag; there is just way too much crap in the set that discourages people to open it up.
dont like the release promo for m11, they need to do more cool ones that are actually playuable like ajani vengant and vapire nocturnus
Clearly Wizards should have called you first because the rest of us that are excited to play this guy don't matter. He's a great Promo card for a lot of people.
PW's as a promo would be too confusing I think, especially textless and especially Jace. As far as the next MPR foil, I ould have seen it be Maelstrom Pulse to fulfill the green, but that's about to rotate.
When does the MPR foil change over? September? If so I could see them doing that, though it would probably annoy a lot of people.

I'm actualy doing pretty great opening WWK, people over here don't buy online and since I'm the only one who has playsets of chalice, smother, firewalker, etc. I get to sell them at $1 and usualy get to get the booster's price back.

Poster A: "They should print cryptic command as a textless promo. That would be sweet!
MTG Salvation: No, its too complicated!!! New players won't get it!
Poster B: Man, it'd be awesome if they reprinted lightning bolt.
MTG Salvation: NO! I'LL QUIT MAGIC THEY'LL NEVER DO IT TOO GOOOOOOD!!
Poster C: I heard they were doing textless bolts...
MTG Salvation: NO ITS A COMMON U STUPID DUMMY. They only do rares!
Poster D: Textless Burst Lightning/Harrow?
MTG Salvation: NO THOSE R @ COMPLIMICATED NEW PLAYERS WONT GET IT OMG NEWB.
*cough*
Seriously people. Complexity of a promo does not mean they'll shy away from printing it. Fireball is a reasonably complicated spell, Mortify/Putrefy are not totally simple either. Cryptic command was modal. Bituminous Blast has cascade. Nameless Inversion had a block type, a subtype, and reminder text. And Burst Lightning has kicker.
Arguing that they won't print something as a promo because of its complexity is idiotic. Literally every promo I just listed had posters decrying them as fake because they're "too complicated", and every time they were printed anyway.
If you don't think it is going to be printed, find a better argument then the tired old bit about it confusing new players or being too difficult of a card. kthxbai.

Looking for a card alterer that takes commissions specifically on a blank playmat. PM me please.
Giant Growth or Hurricane (if it's in M11) seem like the most disappointing choices, so thus seem most likely.
After all, it has to go: Awesome, Awesome, Awesome, Awesome but common, WTF CRAP!
2) This will never happen. WotC seems not to print MPR promos except as textless now.
3) This will never happen. WotC's stance is to never interfere with the secondary market.

Other green non-permanent rares/mythics: Gelatinous Genesis, Momentous Fall (some chance here), Realms Uncharted, Soul's Majesty, Strength of the Tajuru (sees a small amount of play, so maybe?), Summoning Trap (same thing here).
Please tell me that sentence and grammar is sarcasm.
I weep if it is not.
