Well, let me begin this post by saying that there are three main points that point to Zendikar having "Living Lands."
1. The next set is called Worldwake. Nothing seems to be more literal than the world actually coming to life and fighting.
2. Mana was said to act differently on Zendikar. Perhaps the land itself is alive causing mana to flow differently throughout the plane.
3. MaRo said it was a theme seen on a few cards, but never really explored. There are a few types of living lands that we could see...
a. Man-Lands (Lands that turn into creatures (ie Mutavault)Their lack of inclusion in M10 may be a sign that new ones are to come.
b. Animated Lands (i.e. Dryad Arbor) which come into play as a creature. This opens up design space by using new concepts and decisions between attacking and using land for spells.
c. Cards that animate land for you (i.e. Awakener Druid) His inclusion may further the speculation
d. Sacrifice Lands to Creatures (i.e. Gargoyle Castle) whose inclusion may also further speculation.
Keep in mind this is groundless guessing and I was just thinking about this, this morning. Please post any thoughts and or feelings!
I hope so. I really like the idea of man lands. Not to mention Zoetic Cavern from Future sight which is also like a man-land.

Because she's the hero standard deserves, but not the one it needs right now... and so we'll chase her... because she can take it... because she's not a hero... she's a silent guardian
i had the same exact thought n ot even 15 minutes ago before i turned on my computer.
Zoetic Cavern would be a reprint (obv) or something like it. Manlands being kicked out of 10E supports the idea of Living Lands, or Manlands in ZEN.
it's an entire possibility, say a rehash of the Genju Cycle is possible as well (not actual genju, but something along the same principal). Also that one spell from Guildpact, the one that made mountains into 3/1 elementals with replicate... i dont remember the name... but it's a huge and likely good idea and possibility.
it Also further increases it's chances of being a proper idea because there are exactly a (few) being about 6-8 Lands that can come alive (Stalking Stones) and other ways to do it.

Also some people have speculated that the "CENSORED without CENSORED" clause MaRo posted in Daily MTG some time ago is "Morph without Creatures". Which would support the idea of cards like Zoetic Cavern in ZEN
This thought has come up before, and it's obviously not a baseless one, but we need to keep in mind that the theme is based around something that players like to do, which means that players of all levels like to do, particularly new players. Morph may be a the returning mechanic, but turning lands into creatures isn't something I would think that new players find innately exhilarating.
Or cards like living terrian and earth surge or the half of life/death. they all fit the bill. I for one would like more man lands. Ones that create tokens like a green land that creates saproling or elves

New players like to topdeck creatures, if lands are creatures, then they do so more often!
I would love the idea of a spell less deck, so I'm all for more manlands. would be cool to see something like

Except that your land couldn't be played on an oppenents turn unless rules were changed. I don't know why they did this, but regardless of conditions, you cannot play lands on any turn but your own.

Waaaaaaay too overpowered. A free counterspell that can't be countered itself. Not gonna happen.

God I hope that gets printed. Its crazy broken.
I've always liked the thought of lands with flash though.
On the topic, it would be nice, even if I'd prefer an enchantment block. Cards like Enchanted Evening, Greater Auramancy and Mesa Enchantress always seem to slip away past Standard without anyone finding any real use for them .
This makes way too much sense. Current speculation that supports this idea:
- Zoetic Cavern and Dryad Arbor as futureshifted cards exploring the design space of lands being creatures in new ways instead of just traditional manlands.
- There's also Darksteel Garrison, which explores the concept of fortifying lands. Although we won't get an exact reprint of Garrison, the mechanic of Fortify is definately plausible.
- Manlands from 10th were not reprinted in M10 and instead we get a new land that produces creatures in the form of Gargoyle Castle. Could this mean a new cycle of manlands in Zendikar?
- Wrath of God was not reprinted. If Zendikar is indeed a land block, people would get pissed that Wraths would become half-Armageddons as well.
- The replacement for Wrath in M10 is Planar Cleansing, which conveniently does not hit lands.
- The complete lack of any good LD.

Uh..that logic is completely contradictory. I predict we won't see them, based off of a personal hunch, and that you can't do much with Dryad Arbor-like lands. I mean, really, what else can you do with it? Higher P/T would be imba, and any CIP abilities would be imba too.
I think really the reason we havent been given good LD is because WotC is being nice to new players. No one really likes to play against LD Decks especially New players and pros. Sure it's fun to play them every now and then but people don't like playing against it. I think that honestly they'll keep printing LD at higher mana cost or higher restrictions simply so that they won't have to worry about an annoying LD decks that drive away players.
Other than that I fail to understand how *** being removed from the Core Set has to do with manlands, only certain lands like the Future Sight ones were the only ones that could be affected by ***. Also it's already been written that they've felt that *** was a bit too powerful at 4 mana but kept it in because it managed to keep Aggro in check for control decks and that whenever they print a Block Wrath it gets outclassed by *** simply because *** is all around cheaper and better.
However I would love there to be a Manland theme in Zen, it'd make sense with the whole "deadly perils" theme. This also means we can have the return of legendary lands like...

Temple of Doom
Legendary Land- Temple
Whever a creature attacks you, that creature takes 1 damage. T Sacrifice Temple of Doom, attacking creatures take X damage where X is the number of attacking creatures.

It costs mana to play but uses your land drop as well. Since its a land it doesn't use the stack. What do people think?

Well, in that case ALL of those man lands must have toughness 4 or more (otherwise fire sprout would cause the same effect).

That still costs 4 mana, a land would be free...assuming they bent the rules at all to be able to play it.
