You realize it's very hard for a card to hold that high of a price tag seeing just standard play, right? And you can't say it's THAT good in the current format, because the format is still so undefined! It's very good in certain formats, like post-rotation where aggro is always huge. When things settle and aggro dies back a bit, so will Jace.

While del being a great card for current standard I to feel $50 is also kinda high. I think it will nutralize between 30-40$. Still hard to trade for at the moment when u only value it at 35$, every thing is trying to get Max for him. Some people value him at even 60$ , outrageous.
RTR looks almost certain to be a very very popular limited format, and the sheer number of packs opened is going to generate supply.
I think he's a good card, but not $50 good.
To the point on BOTD: Bonfire's appeal and price hinges on the fact that it's useful in a lot of a decks, and potentially splashable. Decks ranging from Zombies to Naya Pod were using it; that's a significant range of deck types. I don't think Jace is going to enjoy the same widespread usage.
Guess it is time to cash in and rebuy when the dust settles? But then if everyone does that it will make the dust settle faster due to increased demand.
Oh well. worth a shot. At least it is good trade bait.

I am looking for Date Stamped promos from Khans of Tarkir block so I can finish my set. Check my wants if you have any.
Currently offering 2 non-foil Kolighan's Command for a Date Stamped foil!
He is really good, no doubt about it. And he has the Jace subtype, which makes him valuable anyways. H'es no JTMS, that much I am sure. The only other format he might make a break in is modern (I'm sure he will at some point), but beyond that, JTMS is always better. He's not worth 50$ imo, when the hype will go down and people realize it's not "play Jace or lose to Jace" as his earlier version was, then he will go down. Can't seriously expect him to stay at 50$ for long.
He dulls aggro, draws like a brainstorm. really? dont understand?
For a slow format like standard currently he dulls what "aggro" there is. He does not draw like a brainstorm at all and is a gimped FoF. However I look at him like Tezzeret, started out huge at 45-55 bucks tons of hype and saw initial play, and just fizzled out after a few months and settled down. This Jace won't be played in Modern as it is to slow for its effect, and in Standard he will really won't see a whole lot of play once gatecrash is released.
People just can't get over the hype factor of cards is what it is. Has nothing to do with how good or bad the card is. Hype is a hell of a stimulant on the economy.
While Jace is a very good card, don't expect its price tag to hold. If you recall, this time last year Liliana's price tag was $60. She's fallen a huge amount since then.
She took a long time to drop sub $20 and she is actually rebounding slight to around $20 currently. I expect Jace to follow a very similar path of sticking at $25-30 even if he drops off the face of the earth deck wise.
Same as Lili and Jace, good to very good cards that's value becomes disconnected from it's performance. Maybe a bit of Gruul/Boros/Naya speculation to also help it stay high too.
Dang, $50? Hope I pull one from a draft tonight so I can trade him for a JTMS for my cube.
No way he's staying $50 for long, why haven't people figured this out about 'walkers yet? Besides the major corner case of JTMS, EVERY SINGLE ONE released has been really expensive/hyped on release, then a major price drop a few months later.
Tibalt $20ish? Sorin $60, Tamiyo $35... if people are trying to get them at these ridiculous prices because they might be good in eternal formats as well as standard, look at Liliana of the Veil. She sees play in modern, but the price is nowhere near what it was at her release.

Except Jace was well below $20 during preorders. I know a few people who preordered their Jace playsets for $75.
It's going to take more than a week or two for Jace to drop below 35$, but I see him tending slowly down to that level over the next 2 weeks (unless he just dominates States like a boss and people decide that he really is worth 45$). Going below 35$ doesn't seem likely anytime soon though. He's really good.

I think people just WANT Jace to fall in price. But I think it will stay around 40. Liliana is definitely worse than this Jace is, and she was 40+ for what like..6 months? Including peaking at like 70 or something completely ridiculous.

Jace has already seen more successful Standard play than Tezz 2.0 did, and it's only been a weekend.
The combo of Jace + Tamiyo is a undeinable powerful combo. Sofar playing aggro I've only won a handful of games when both came down and that was because I had slverblade paladin or 2 fliers on board
This Jace is better than people realize, I think. You'll probably never want to ultimate with him, but his first 2 abilities are fantastic. Because the makeup of today's decks are 'have a bunch of little guys in play', his +1 can be very valuable. And fact or fiction is still great even if it's just 3 cards(especially if you get to do it more than once).
I expect it's price point to stay around 40. Or to go up. I mean like..Koth was 30-40 for quite awhile.
At least he's a lot better than Ajani, Caller of the Pride. That card is clearly underwhelming, but hit high prices.
Hit high prices initially, but came down rather quickly. You're correct he is better than the current Ajani, and I won't deny that he is good for a format with 1/1s and 2/2s, but overall I think the hype from the first week of play is a bit much.
If he is able to repeat for the next few weeks I will say ok maybe I was wrong. I just honestly can't see Jace being the powerhouse people are building him up to be. His +1 is good against weenie aggro and his - is mediocre at best for 4.

Indeed, might as well take every planeswalker and toss them in the trash until Pithing Needle rotates.

It has been mostly replaced by Jace, the Mind Sculptor in both formats. It sees basically no play now since Jace is better.
Ditch it ASAP. Planeswalkers never hold value(unless your name is the mind sculptor) which this card obviously is not anywhere near.
We will rebuild.
