I did not get exactly a pile of crap, but all colors were shallow, and I was forced to play 3C, where the only color fixation was one Shimmering Grotto. First, I built UBr, where black was mainly for Tragic Slip, Typhoid Rats and flashback of Fires of Undeath. First round, I managed to repel almost constructed RG werewolves, but lost the decider. Next round I won by luck, but then switched for UWr, but lost all four rounds 1:2.
A guy next to me opened in his 6 boosters the following: Mikaeus, the Lunarch, Olivia Voldaren, foil Tree of Redemption and Snapcaster Mage, Sorin and Beguiler of Wills (and one other rare from DKA) He botched the construction and had 2:2 after 4 rounds, but still...

I learned alot and felt I've become better for it, I made 2 decks out of my pool, B/U SkaaZoms with alot of target mill, it was perfect but I have never really played this before so I tried my luck, My back up deck was a fast R/W combat trick deck,
My thoughts on the day:
The BU only worked 2 out of the 5 first games it was played, I should have milled myself more but I was always nervous, I now understand the importance of turn 1-2 plays, even if I did bad with it I still feel like I got something valuable.
The RW did amazing, I was worried that because there was no bomb it would be bad but its power to push alot of early damage meant I could just swarm by turn 5.
My MVPs would be
1.Chalice of life kept me alive for so long, play it even if there's grudge
2.Loyal Cathar would just keep going then die and keep going, etc
3.Faithless Looting, At first I was afraid but it just let me filter so much land out I can say its a almost Time Walk in a 'give me what I want' sort of way.
Can't wait to draft!!!

For me I opened vault of the archangel (underrated card IMO), requiem angel (very underwhelming card actually... got her out 3 times and only got one spirit out of her... wouldn't play her again)
Requiem Angel doesn't need to create spirits to prove her worth really.
a 5/5 flyer for 6 in limited is good enough as is while being a tad bit boring.
If this chick gets you anything beyond 1 spirit its basically earned immense value.
I hope I get this card passed to me though :).
She is worse in spirit decks though I will admit that still a card I would play though even if my entire deck was spirits.
I went undefeated all day (6-0 record. I actually told the judge that i tied my last opponent so he could get into top 8 even though i beat him 3-0 in fun games. I was so far ahead in points i could have lost that match and still been first lol) with GWb fatty/token deck and was first place. Then my stupid store made us draft for prizes, and i have no idea how to draft and have never really done it more than 7 times total over the last few years, so i went from 1st place to 5th... ... I honestly think that it was pretty BS since drafting for prizes wasn't listed on the store website (the winners basically voted to do that. Obviously everyone is going to vote yes except for me since they weren't first and i was... and these guys were saying i didnt deserve to win because i wasnt part of their nerd club or whatever.. i wasn't a regular at that store sigh).
My pool was super shallow... I basically went green for a few fatties and mana fixers (mulch was amazing since i had 2 rare lands so i used that card to hit them almost every game), white for all the tokens and pump/removal. I also had a singleton Demonmail Hauberk that was a CHAMP with tokens as well. That card won me a few games alone. If i had a mentor of the meek in hand, i would save my token cards for when i had 7+ mana, and then draw 2-3 cards off my token cards. My deck didnt really have any bomb creatures, but it just had a ton of synergy in the end.
I made the deck super fast thinking i was going to go 0-6, literally thinking the deck was trash. I ended up not changing out a single thing the entire day.
I only lost 1 game all day (but still won the round in 3), and only because i was an idiot, and not because my deck was outclassed.
I splashed 1 swamp, and had 1 evoling wilds and 1 grotto to activate my vault of the archangel. I think i got it online almost every time i got it out. It was amazing. That card with tokens is just broken. Id say 60% of my games ended with me having 30+ life.
I was the only person undefeated in a 43 person tournament ^u^ so i was proud of myself for that. Just a little bit pissed that i feel so cheated out of my prize (i only got 9 packs for winnings due to that stupid top 8 draft ****)
I didnt open a single mythic rare or card worth more than 4 dollars all day, with all 15 of the packs that i opened =( boooo haha
Are you kidding? Those 4 rares alone make the ****tiest deck of all time really, really good, especially the increasing devotion and the 2 utility lands. Seriously, those things are immense headaches.
Ended up going 4-2 with a solid UG deck, took 7th out of 60. I was the highest of the 4-2s since my losses were to the eventual champ and one who took 5th.
Only reason I lost to the champ (round 4) was Trepanation Blade hitting me at the wrong time, milled all my beef and fliers in one swoop. Blah.
With the guy that took 5th (round 6), it was a misplay by me and just some terrible luck. Undead Alchemist. I need to read cards better. That beat me game one. Game 2 he milled me late game. First card I flipped over was Butcher's Cleaver... when I had my Invisible stalker ready for equipping.
All in all I was pretty happy with how my deck played though.
My shop didn't have enough Innistrad packs for everyone, so we had to use sealed pools of 2x M12 and 4x DKA. This really threw things off and made for a not-so-good experience. I'm also a little bitter since my sealed pool was pretty weak.
My deck had a bit of a wolf/werewolf theme and 1 Immerwolf, but many of the decent green creatures I got were Beasts and such from M12, so M12 once again made things awkward.
I won a few games, one with a Huntmaster who went nuts before he could get hit with Doom Blade, Shock, or Incinerate, and the remaining by surprising my opponent with Wild Hunger (often cast and flashed back the same turn). It's like a mini-Overrun.
All in all, not the best prerelease experience I've had, but I'm still glad I went.
So my sealed pool had 3 Stromkirk Captain in it, plus a few other vampires, but not enough to go straight R/B Vampires so I had to add a little filler and eventually ended up with a Jund list, being able to splash green thanks to 2 Evolving Wilds . I ended up 3-1 after loosing my last round to some dude that pulled Huntmaster of the Fells that plus I got mana screwed in at least one game. At the end of the day ended up splitting top 4 and walking away with 7 packs, all of which had garbage rares and only a couple had worthwhile uncommons. Probably my best prerelease showing to date. Almost makes up for all those times I ended up 1-3 or 0-4 at regional prerelease 32 man's.
My sealed pool was kind of horrible, didn't get any rares, but I got two Immerwolf, but no other wolves, fortunately the pool was full of evasive creatures and some removal,I built an esper deck that went 3-3,lost against one Monogreen Equip,UW Spirits(3 Drogskol Captain and one Ravager here) and BR Aggro.
I also played some T2 + DKA during the meantime.Sadly I forgot the deck on the store by the end of the event, returning to the store tomorrow to retrieve it if I'm lucky enough

Is there some type of reporting system for these events? I would look into it because that is pure bs.
I went 4-2 for the 10th in a 41 person event. I could have been 5-1. I let an unpumped Champion of the Parish nip away at me for to long. I had a swamp and Tragic Slip in my opening hand, but even after 6 damage from the Champ I was still more scared of the Drogskol Reaver that never hit the board!
I once farted during the final match for prizes at an FNM. It was a tense moment, everything was quiet, control vs control, I was about to mana leak, thought about it.. and farted. Then mana leaked.
I was pretty happy with my pool. Went 4-0 (out of 4 rounds) and got 3rd out of 42 (not bad since I haven't played limited since ROE). I opened a Snapcaster (didn't even play it, but it paid for the prerelease). Also got a vault of the archangel (which is nuts). The crazy thing was, every white card I opened (and I really mean everyone) was playable (ok purify the grave is so-so, but that was it). I had some sick token making (2x lingering souls and increasing devotion, along with some others). Had to splash black and red for some removal, but the deck was really strong and consistent. I only lost two games, one to a turn one stromkirk noble (with every imaginable +1/+1 counter effect) and one to a hexproofed beguiler of wills.
EDH is like French fries: some people like waffle cut, crinkle cut, or plain old straight cut, and while there's slight flavor difference and personal preference, at the end of the day they're still fries.
Went 3-0-1 with a fairly medicore pool. W/r/b, a bunch of random humans/spirits with my bombs being Vault of the Archangel and devil's play. My real mvp was skirsdag flayer. Maining White gave me a lot of humans which i was always able to make good trades off my flayer. I killed vorapede 4 times with flayer.
I had 2 Stromkirk Captains, so I decided to work from there, until I realized I had 5 vampires total. Yeah. My pool didn't have any synergy.
The guy across from me got Sorin. Bah.
I ended up with a silly WBr deck, considering I had already resigned myself to losing. My MVP was Seance. Yes. My pool was just that dumb. Seance brought back so many Mausoleum Guards to feed to my singleton Falkenrath Torturer and Markov Warlords to get the last few points of damage in.
My real life cat (black) died on Saturday;
I forfeited the tournament out of not wanting to cry every time I encountered a Black Cat.
I had the same thing happen to me but it was on the Wednesday. I didnt forfeit but someone did comment " I figured the 1/2 cat would make spikes go on tilt but jesus guy" I do like the art though
I went 3-1-1 with W/B, Bloodline keeper being my bomb. I normally go on Sunday when the average age of each participant is 14, this time I went Friday night to play with the older crowd. I was shocked at how all the older magic players acted, they were all very rude and openly talked bad about me and my deck while I was playing them. Even when I beat them they would just talk about how lucky I was to get a win with such an awful deck. While they played better then the young ones, their decks were poorly constructed and is the reason for their losses. I think from now on I will be attending the pre releases with all the goof-balls.
Ya, I don't understand why older players tend to act this way versus other players. My guess is, they all believe they are good players because they have been playing since (revised, antiquities, beta, tempest block etc w/e) and thus must be better than people who started playing later than them.
I went 3-1-1 with tricolor + 1 swamp Burning Vengeance, featuring Skaab Ruinator. Literally my pool forced me to play three colors because it was so bad. It beat typically "good" decks though... yay synergy.

Oh I agree it's a good card in limited... but it was a large part of the reason I went U/W splashing black over U/B splashing white and I definitely did not explain that well in my original post. I just overvalued it I think as most of the time it was a 5/5 flyer going up against much better bombs in other peoples decks. That was also because I had a bunch of spirits though so it would likely do much better in a different deck B/W humans for example.
I won't even discuss the midnight pre-release I went to, let's just say Archangel's Light, I love you so. I at least got a Grafdigger's Cage to make up for it.
The next day, on saturday, I still didn't do well, but it was much more enjoyable for me. I went W/G aggro, with my bombs being Kessig Cagebreakers, which I never saw, and surprisingly Deranged Outcast was my MVP for the day. It has amazing synergy with Elder Cathar and Loyal Cathar. I also got a second Grafdigger's Cage, and even though my pool was really synergistic and nice, I still went 1-2 and dropped.
However, on the third game I played, there was almost twice that I snatched victory at 5 life. My opponent was playing a very quick deck, and it beat me down swiftly. However, the tide turner was Clinging Mists, which allowed me to get through with my pumped up Festerhide Boar for the win. He was at 18. The second game, more of the same happened, and my stabalizer was Gather the Townsfolk. With 5 humans and my Deranged Outcast on the battlefield, we had a pretty awesome stalemate going. I eventually tried swinging in with a 12/12 human, but sadly even with that on the board he eventually got the better of me with a Falkenrath Mauraders. The games were still awesome, and considering I was incredibly tired after 3 rounds, I let him have the round, and promptly went home to sleep.
I wish my 4/4s with haste and first strike that acted as Goblin Warchiefs were better and didn't die to instants and overshadowed all other 4 drops in the format. And that they had evasion too, and some way to dodge wrath effects.

On top of that, my pool of cards was beyond god awful.
No removal, no good creatures, just utter GARBAGE.
Contrast this with the two DKA boosters I got in my Intro Packs-
Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and Loyal Cathar in the same booster,
Vault of the Archangel and Tragic Slip in the other :-P
