This makes me sort of happy and sort of sad at the same time. Aether was not played that much even during Mirrodin standard but, if its any indication of Pyrite being printed I am happy just the same.

i had a feeling MM would turn out like this. i'm pretty sure people who have rushed to get boxes are not going to get all the value commons and uncommons they think they will
the fact is, this is meant to be drafted and so the limited format will be adjusted accordingly

Flop, I was thinking just the same. If we see Aether Vial and Chalice of the Void printed at uncommon, I think this might be a decent buy. But at the end of the day, this is just reprints of cards, and there has to be some "gimmick" to want to buy packs rather than just hoping to bust open a tarmo.

What were you expecting?
1 card, and your writing the set off?

Chalice of the void was originally a rare... why would it get demoted? For that matter, I wouldn't be surprised to see aether vial promoted to rare here. Its a high power card, with intersting (but not frequent) uses in limited. Its proven to be a powerhouse of a card in constructed formats, and has a high value despite being printed as an uncommon.
Does this mean that the whole cycle will be in there?
Hopefully not. Lifespark Spellbomb and Sunbeam Spellbomb are awful. I don't share the same confidence as others that one piece of a cycle means the whole cycle will be reprinted, either. The set is not unlimited in size, and there are a lot of decent commons and uncommons (like this one) in Modern to include that are part of a cycle that also contains unplayably awful cards that would really clog up the set.
A fair amount of info can be gathered if this is legit. Mainly, it's card #196/229.
1th artifact from the set ----- 196/229 ------ soo 33 artifacts + lands
1 is City of Brass soo ---- 32 artifacts +lands
if there are all bombs soo 28 artifacts +lands
if Aerher + Necrogen Spellbomb + Pyrite Spellbomb are in soo 30 others artifact + lands
even soo the odds of Æther Vial are hight . could be 195/229

Æther Vial would more likely be 197, not 195, S comes before V in the alphabet...

If this is real, it's incredibly disappointing. Aether spellbomb is only barely playable in eggs (lol nice bans) or as Trinket Mage Target (and those are all the rage right?), and in both those cases it basically doesn't get played.
It got me thinking though. It does put Emrakul (and other reanimated fatties) back in the hand. Of course the decks that can cast Emrakul will gladly take their extra turn to play him again.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
If the store owner says that I can't trade in the premises, I'll just go outside. If he says that I can't trade within 10m of his premises, I'll go to 11 meters. If he says that he doesn't want to see me trading, I will put a basket over his head and continue trading.
Yes, he's a local legend. He's only known to take his clothes off before he goes into the Ladies' Lockerroom. Nobody knows what he does in there because he's invisible, but it's almost certainly tons of masturbating.
Hahaha, I guess this is going to happen with every set now. Seems like this has been very common in recent history, likely due to the printer issue someone else mentioned.

What was the printer issue about?
Does anyone know when the spoilers will be coming in?

We're a few weeks out from official spoilers, but not sure how they're going to go about the reveal. I don't think they'll do it all at once, but I also wouldn't expect single card spoiler articles like a normal set. I could see an article series on the various draft archetypes they built in to reveal batches of cards at a time though.

I expect a truncated preview season, maybe a single week, in which they do do their normal format for spoilers. Drafting is a big part of this set but it's not the only part, and the columns that aren't focused on limited might have things to discuss for themselves.

Yep, 5 of the cards are merely fringe playable in the right deck. Clearly this whole set will suck.

MM was created for two primary reasons: #1: WotC needed a summer "multiplayer" set, this year Draft was it. And #2: WotC needs to get more Modern format staples in the pool, but some of them (such as Tarmogoyf) are to powerful for standard.
Basically, the set is made for draft, and to get more modern staples into circulation. However, it would be foolish to think that every card would be a reprint of a modern staple, a set needs commons after all.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).

This. Surely it would be no surprise to find Giant Growth in this set as well?

To be honest, I'm not particularly concerned about the commons in Modern Masters. I don't play Modern, but I think that even the most expensive common that's available in Modern should be pretty affordable by normal standards. I have a dozen Lightning Bolts from M10 and M11 left over, and I'm inclined to believe that the Modern Common card pool isn't suffering from any over-inflation due to scarcity. (Feel free to prove me wrong, like I said, I don't play Modern at all at the moment, so I didn't search out all the commons.)
I think the uncommon choices for the set are the true decision-makers on whether Modern Masters would be a highly-desirable set or a "Worldwake - Lottery" set.
One or Five Spellbombs aren't going to convince Modern Masters is going to fall. In fact, I think its a great choice because they're from Mirrodin, the first set in Modern (and technically speaking, should be the most scarce set in Modern as it is the oldest.)

No. I played it in Eggs' SB, but Eggs is not likely to be a draftable archetype.

It is certainly possible. Although a little less likely since it was in RTR block.
