Teysa is total garbage, even in edh. Obviously unplayable in constructed but it's a horrible general as well. Total disappointment :/ Why would you ever make it cost 7 mana?
Teysa is nothing like I would have expected. Though I suppose I wasn't expecting anything in particular, except probably something more similar to her original card in mechanics and size.
I actually really like her as an Orzhov commander. Slow and controlling is par for the course, and while her token-making plays well with the creature sacrifice themes Orzhov is famous for, she doesn't lock you into that sort of a theme like other commanders do. You're free to play a slow, creature-light control deck with an unblockable win condition that protects you from attacks at the same time.
I think black got the best gatekeeper followed by red and then blue. Green is very meh. The black one is most at home in Golgari, which wants to control and have quite a bit of variety in its mana.
Really wish Teysa cost 6 instead of 7. Trying to resist making BW EDH since all of my best BW cards are in my Kaalia deck, but it's still very tempting because I love her effect. Too bad I'd probably never get her to stick with that mana cost, especially in those colors.
Really surprised she costs so much, though. Never would have thought she'd cost more to cast than a giant 2-headed ogre, a 5/5 flash trample wurm and a demon that basically wins you the game in one unblocked swing.
To those who say she's overcosted, really? She's an unblockable attacking and defender who can't die to creatures and will you not only kill any creature that hurts you, you also get a flier! Once Grissy rotates out she will be the new reanimator target.
Except against the decks she's good against Angel of Serenity performs just as well and is in the same block. Angel of Serenity gets a 5/6 flying(which may as well be unblockable against aggro) creature that can exile three of your opponents creatures or three of your dudes in your grave if you need em back. She also protects you better than Teysa since she doesn't die to Mizzium Mortars and doesn't require your opponent to deal damage to you to get extra value. The only place where Teysa is likely better is against other decks Running Angel of Serenity since she can't get targeted. But that doesn't change the fact that there are simply better options than her.
I wanted her to be good more than anything but she isn't anywhere near that level.
Edit: Oh, and since her effect requires the opponent to deal combat damage she doesn't even let you use fog to not die to the aggro alpha strike. She's just so underwhelming.
Is there anything in white to force opposing players to attack? I mean... if that was available Teysa could do some serious harm if she got into play. She's a bit too late turncount wise to really function. Which is a shame as her effect would be very nice on a weaker body.
The irony of using 'weaker body' here should be lost on nobody.
New Teysa is nowhere near as good as her old card. She's a potential reanimation target for Junk Rites against aggro but frankly Angel of Serenity usually does it better on a bigger, flying body. She has no real place in control either thanks to Supreme Verdict being a card.
Teysa has better evasion than flying.
Still overcosted, would've liked to see her cost one less.
I cant be the only person very annoyed that all of the gatekeepers have flavor text except the red one. I get it needs space for the Act Of Treason effect but still :/ speaking of which there sure alot of cards with that ability in standard right now huh?
It appears that she's a Human Advisor. I don't think there is a "Woman" creature type either.

She'll be a fine reanimator target.

If they did, Teysa's ability would read "Put a 1/1 white and black spirit token with flying onto the battlefield under your opponent's control".
No, you do. God, paying 7 mana for that and not to get the token...

no the token is all yours otherwise it would state that it would put it under its owner's control.
You wish... =P Sorry, but i had to say it.
Now on topic, she seems unplayable in anything but sealed (maybe draft if DMZ-GTC-RTR is slower) even in EDH is a seven mana do nothing.

I think it's a cool card-- probably not what people were expecting. No synergy with the Extort ability.. poop.
Is she for Rites? I can't tell.

Vigilance, Protection from creatures is very powerful. Basically swing for 4 every turn and still hold tesya back as a blocker.
