I saw that too. Just woke up from hitting my head on the wall in frustration.
Considering they have yet to put Dragon's Maze on the shelves yet, you REALLY can't expect them to start spoiling things until they've rung this one dry. Think of it like a movie...
12-6 months out - sneak peak trailer (like the "announcing" arcana)
3-1 months out - new trailers, more footage, lots of interviews (spoilers)
1 week - heavy tv coverage, trailers on every hot tv show commercial break (prerelease), reviews hit websites
Day 0 - Set/Movie hits stores
Think of MM as being the big Memorial Day blockbuster movie. Are you going to start pushing out interviews and trailers for it NOW, or are you going to wait a couple of weeks to get max hype?
No, I was hoping sooner. It is the only really relevant product coming out anytime soon, and I'd like a good freaking idea how much I'm going to have to spend to get what I want from it. I don't care about goyf, but this product has a great deal of potential for useful reprints for edh.
Agreed! I'm hoping for the old swords of such and such but with new arts to match the new ones, and for damnation among others

Lets keep with your movie allegory. A month out, and we know 2 actors (goyf and city). We don't KNOW how much the tickets will be (limited screenings tend to be more expensive than regular movies), or even how many showings (amount of product), much less plot (rarity structures) and cast (contents). We really know nothing about this product, and we are expected to budget for a much more expensive product on faith, without the slightest idea of how much to budget! Real people have other financial concerns, and this is getting to be as bad as games workshop (though at least with them, some of the people inside will leak information for us.) it is incredibly frustrating! This isn't a core product, like the standard legal booster sets. This has the potential to take every dime of my spending money, and because of the callous limitations they keep placing on products like this and commander's floppy wand, it is causing stress. Hobbies should NEVER cause stress. I don't care about dragons maze. Comparing the two is like comparing a documentary release to The Hobbit. If it is garbage, iNEED to know so I will stay the hell away from it, and budget nothing for it. If it is everything it could be and more, I NEED to be able to budget accordingly. Without this information, I'm boned either way.

But spoiler season almost always starts a month before the release of a set, and you usually don't get regular spoilers until 2-3 weeks before release. Why would you expect Modern Masters to be any different, especially when it's sandwiched up against the Dragon's Maze release? Core Sets usually get spoilers a little earlier, but Modern Masters isn't a core set.
If you haven't pre-ordered any already, you're probably going to have a hard time getting any at a reasonable price. eBay prices have gone up to $250.

I see spoilers well before a month. We've been seeing dgm spoilers since pax. A month ago last Saturday. We should be seeing them by now. This is a larger set, and ISN'T a core product. It shouldn't be falling in line with core product rules and timelines. It is its own thing.
The less time they give us before spoiler season, the more it becomes a release only for those who can spend daddies money or have so much cash they wipe their rears with more than my rent.
Sadly this really becomes the case, but with limited information there is nothing more we can do but a) gamble and go in, b) hold off and hope prices don't go through the roof.
Away from topic, I know others like myself have budgets to keep in mind, one thing I have always tried to strive for is an allocation of money aside to see if MM is what it could be, and if not, well then I have the money saved for other projects. Not an approach for all, but works for me.
Oh god I hope not, Commander's Arsenal was complete ****. 18 cards of overpriced jank.
Realms was the same as all the other FTVs.
MM better not be as crappy as Arsenal, especially since its a full set at least.
From the vault was alright. Not much to complain about. It was what it was always intended and advertised to be. Commander's floppy wand was the single biggest insult to wizard's customer base that could have ever occurred. I'll dump this hobby if ANYTHING is as bad as that piece of pond scum ever again.

Your memory is faulty. Aside from the lands, Ruric Thar was spoiled March 23 and Render Silent April 5. Everything else came April 7 and later. That's a month before Dragon's Maze release.

Ruric thar was at pax. Last I checked, march 23 to may 3rd is greater than a month. Let me check it again. Yup. Still more than a month. A third time you say? Oh, well now the temporal frame has shifted, oh wait no it hasn't, still more than a month.

Were you unaware that Tarmogoyf and City of Brass have already been spoiled? Exactly two cards well over a month beforehand. No more, no less. Modern Masters spoilers are precisely in line with previous spoilers. Just be patient.

You had two DGM cards spoiled more than one month before release. How many cards do you have spoiled for Modern Masters more than one month before release? Two.

And if we're going by his preview release schedule, we shouldn't have known about 'goyf until right about now or so instead of, gosh how many MONTHS ago?........ so we're quite fortunate in that regard. Just knowing 'goyf is in the set set the hype high enough for most people to take a wager of getting a box+. Sorry, not every godbook is going to be released, months ahead of time to find out if the set is worth it.
Edit: Actually checked the dates, and we got a preview card almost an entire YEAR before the set came out. Approx. 8 months.

Found out my LGS is not selling any boxes of MM. Instead, they're doing drafs with it for ~$20. My current and only plan to get any of this set is just going there and drafting whatever I want out of the packs for my collection, then dropping and leaving. I am so upset that I'm apparently just not going to be able to find preorders for this
I have zero desire to play limited. Negative desire, even. I just want to be able to buy this for somewhere between 1.0x to 1.5x MSRP and I'll be happy.
Wish you luck bud :Y Best bet is to try and find it online closer to the release, and avoid the ebay scalpers.

12. We knew the gates would be getting new art. We also knew the text on Maze's End. Try again.

Did you read what I posted? No. No you did not. Why the hell do people reply without reading what they reply to? Am I the only person left with even the remotest amount of literacy and discussion/ argument competence?! GAH!!!
I think that they have to be a little more cautious with spoilers on this product than with a new set. Well, that's what I think at least, I don't want to see the secondary market go crazy before we even know how large of a print run it's going to be. I'd honestly rather have everything spoiled at once a little before release, even though I'm dying to know what's in the set.
12. We knew the gates would be getting new art. We also knew the text on Maze's End. Try again.
We know lots of cards will be getting new art in MM. So there's your art based spoiler. The text on Maze's End was unofficial and unconfirmed until late March, right before all the spoilers. If you want unofficial spoilers, I got that. This set will contain at least one blue card that contains, somewhere on its text box, "counter" and "spell". Enjoy!

Sometimes I feel like the word "interactivity" around here is akin to the word "electrolytes" in sports drinks. The public doesn't really know what it means, but they figure it's a good thing to have.
Something I was wondering; what is a "limited" print run? There is a lot of doom and gloom and speculation, but if they are advertising it as such a great draft option, I'm guessing "limited" likely just means less than other current sets.

Something I was wondering; what is a "limited" print run?
They're erring on the conservative side of quantity, and probably aren't going to be printing another batch. Even if it's a massive success, they probably wouldn't be able to secure a good place in the printing queue to capitalize on it (ie, they'd be able to print more MM like a year after people wanted to buy it).
(Also, they're only doing it in english which is a big "this is a test run" kind of a flag.)
The reason why is they have no metrics whatsoever and have to make some guesses to how the product will go over. The last time they did a reprint set was Chronicles, and it cost them a ton of money from the surplus cards printed.
Modern Masters is no Chronicles (and no Magic Online Masters while you're at it), but it's still an untested product for them.
If it goes well, no doubt there might be a 2016 MM edition and such. I think that goes without saying.

I wish my 4/4s with haste and first strike that acted as Goblin Warchiefs were better and didn't die to instants and overshadowed all other 4 drops in the format. And that they had evasion too, and some way to dodge wrath effects.
