As much as I love spoilers, it is unfortunate that this (massive leak) happened again. Part of the fun of a new set is seeing the preview articles every night and getting a nice slow drip of new cards to consider.
When the leaks happens all at once, it takes a lot of fun out of the waiting. Now we have a couple of weeks and very little to look forward to, in the meantime. This also screws those who were given preview cards for articles, podcasts, and their own marketing.
Shame on this daygl0, and I hope WOTC finds out who he is (presuming WOTC didn't do this themselves).
Hear, hear!
I know that most of us wants to get everything *now*, but we also have to realize that this leak is a blow to everyone working on the pre-release. Articles written will be nullified and advertising revenue is obviously hurt. I am surprised that MTGS allows for such - I am no lawyer, but it smells to me. It may very well be the reason for their rather cool attitude towards this web-site.
Having said all of that - Return to Ravnica is indeed a very exciting new set with lots of innovation. It also sets a mark on eternal formats in a way that's not seen before. Congratulations to Wizards of the Coast is on order!
Yeah you can say "you can just wait a week," but like knowing where your presents are at Christmas, you just... have... to... peak... awr crap... now I have nothing to look forward to for the next 5 days...
A handful of cards I like immediately, others I think are clearly awful (Drudge Beetle....C'mon Man). Inspiration's flavor text is on my favorites list. Very clever. With Shocklands, Abrupt Decay, previously spoiled R/MRares, looks to be a fine set.
Rest in Peace, Soul Tithe, Chronic Flooding, Psychic Spiral, Thrill-Kill Assassin, Electrickery, Urban Burgeoning+Underworld Connections synergy, Search Warrant, Deathrite Shaman, Sundering Growth, and Staticaster are cards I lean to at instant speed.
I suppose the others will take more time to appreciate.
I suppose it's to be expected but every time I buy a box I end up with so much leftover crap that's completely unplayable. I really wish wizards would starting making less bad cards, or at least make the bad cards better, the playability gap between good limited cards and good constructed cards is HUGE.

Dude what are you talking about? It's this kind of backwards thinking that makes companies like apple and Samsung think they need to sue each other into oblivion, thus wasting the space in the news for real information.
Most people don't know these spoilers exist, especially not the people who just want to have a good experience this upcoming prerelease weekend (please try not to read too much into that guys, I'm not excluding anyone and certainly not talking bad about anyone who just wants to have fun with the new set.) I knew about these spoilers for several sets before I decided to take advantage of them because the experience at the time for me was more about seeing everything at once- no clue what to expect. As I got more competitive and with concern that I may give up a good and valuable card I didn't acknowledge immediately in draft or in trade on the first weekend, I decided it would be best to take advantage of this kind of material.
Spoilers exist in all different types of media. Mtg is no different. I commend anyone willing to work so much to make all this information available early (but not too early) so we can get a feel for the set.
Wizards should not feel obligated to throw lawsuits out over anything similar to this. I for one am still disgusted by the way things turned out with rancoredelf so long ago. Do not feed the corporate copyright policy machine that eats away everything fun about something as simple as a card game. These spoilers help wotc make money by generating interest.

Lots of bad commons and uncommons but nothing can be worse than AVR was in terms of that.
Meh, the quality of uncommon/common overall is fairly decent its about Innistrad level. I can see quite a few cards I wouldn't mind having in limited at common/uncommon.
Not to mention the real problem with limited in Avacyn was the power level between level between rare/mythics vs. uncommon/common. I don't see any can't be beat in limited cards so far in this set like Entreat the Angels off the top miracled on turn 6-7 or something.
Or they could make the GOOD cards WORSE and reverse some of this power creep.
not that I disagree, the power creep in creatures has been obscene, but the gold standard for power IMO is still Legacy-Playable, I would like to see more of this at the common/uncommon level (noncreatures especially) and less at the mythic/rare level.

besides limited sucks anyway.
So much of this game is supposed to be for limited... It's a game that can be played many ways. Limited definitely doesn't suck. It's a huge design angle and definitely my favorite format. Constructed has a lot of good stuff coming out in this set. It seems the real issue is that you don't enjoy one of the biggest parts of this game. That's why you can buy boxes or even just your singles and not knock on what makes limited challenging: limited cards/pools/resources etc.
Rogue's Passage will see play in pretty much every Voltron EDH deck ever.
Yup. I've looked it over, and I'm gonna need 3 at bare minimum.
And then more after Gatecrash and the Dimir.

I'll never understand why people are shocked and disgusted that there would be cards in each set that are supposed to be there for limmited. If every card were great for the format you like most, then it would be the worst set ever for another person.
Deathrite Shamanlooks like it could possibly have some Legacy applications. It comes down early, and can work well against Knight of the Reliquary, Snapcaster Mage, and reanimator decks, plus it's an efficient 1/2 for 1.

Yeah I was amazed at the card talk about pure utility on a 1 mana hybrid creature.
Not to mention he helps to hose $$$Goyf.
One way to make a 1/2 for 1 mana creature matter is give it 3 relevant abilities ;).

This is why I am planning on making a commons and uncommons Cube just for this block. I knew that there would be a lot of limited stuff and it would make a great limited environment. So far that has been true.
Wow, so many cards revealed in one post! This is awesome!
Some of these cards are very impressive, but I currently find only several to be extremely interesting and appealing to me. One specific card that attracted my attention was fall of the gavel. Is that card an acceptable replacement for Offering to Asha in blue/white decks? It does cost 1 more than OtA, but in exchange for that higher cost, it gains its controller 1 more life, and, more importantly, is a "hard counter," rather than a "soft counter," as is OtA. Of course, absorb is obviously superior to both those cards, but I am still waiting for it to be reprinted in the newer card frame before using it ,y decks. What does everyone else say about that?

The silly Black Discard player in me wants to run Ravenous Rats, Drainpipe Vermin, Mind Rot, Rakdos's Return, Duress, Despise, kill cards, Underworld Connections, Sign in Blood, and most importantly Shrieking Affliction!!
people are really, really underestimating that Rogue's Passage land. that thing with Geist of Saint Traft does infinite work. I'm going to go so far as to say people are underestimating it worse than they underestimated most of the Innistrad utility lands.
Take your monoblack deck, then set aside 14 swamps. Add 4 Creeping Tar Pits, 4 Darkslick Shores, 4 Drowned Catacombs, and 2 Jwar isle Refuge and add 4 Jace, the Mindsculptors. Your monoblack deck is instantly better. Better yet, drop those refuges, throw in some islands and some mana leaks, and lo and behold, you're now playing a real deck. Congratulations. Welcome to the world of competitive M:TG.
Im digging the Deathrite shaman. Hoses so many decks in modern and legacy. Its hits lands and not just your lands your opponents lands. This is why thier were no Birds in this set and or M13. This card is amazing.
Mana Bloom is awesome too. Its repeatable and can help ramp deck get out fatties pretty good. The rest of the cards are ok. I am disappointed in the rakdos hyrbid one drop its just not as good as I hoped it would be.
really hoping the cackler isn't part of the 1 drop uncommon set because both WG and WU got actual cards with abilities...we got a 1/1 or a 2/2 that can't block that is already worse then diregraf ghoul...

It costs one more mana than Sleep and can be more powerful or weaker depending.
Seems like a perfectly fine card if you ask me.
Feel free to bid on my cards here!

This, a card with that much utility is going to see a lot of play in a lot of decks due to his hybrid mana cost.
And lol at Golgari Longlegs. If only the image of Elesh Norn popping up and yelling "mah legs are longer!" would leave me alone...
