Actually after thinking about it, it may have a place in Jund against storm, Jund Charm did fine it's duty as graveyard hate that could kill goblin tokens and this can win the game singlehandedly there.
And overall the ability to deal huge chunks of damage recklessly isn't that bad for standard right after a block dominated by tokens and in a block with shocklands. Weak overall but i guess Rakdos could do worse.
If the last ability didn't hurt you then yes this would be a good card. None of the other charms third abilities have this kind of drawback (The izzet charm's third ability is the second worse and even that isn't as bad as this) and why is this in the color that wants you to have a lot of little attacking creatures at once? FAIL WIZARDS! As others have said this is decent for side-boarding to cover two different slots (artifact hate and graveyard hate). With so much graveyard hate, I don't even know if graveyards are going to be as good as some people believe they will be, which would hurt this card even more.
For a Rakdos deck at most they will take 4 damage from this spell their opponent will likely take closer to 10 damage if the Rakdos player allows them to get that many creatures.
Most decks that ran Price of Progress still ran some non-basics but the trade off of damage was worth it, anytime your opponent is taking 2-3x more damage from a spell then you do is a good deal.
Crap Price of Progress in some match-ups is close to a dead card at least this one has other things it can do.
As usual, people are completely overreacting. The first two abilities of each charm is an ability which would normally cost a single mana at instant speed.
i fail to se how any of selesnya charms abiltiies should cost 1, only the +2 and trample could be argued. also lifelink ability of aorious charms abilities easily cost more than 1. so i don't think that it is fair to say all charms first two abilities have 1 cost abilities.
Wonder if they play tested the set. Just made a theme deck for each group or at least made decks. Think they would notice none of the Rakdos cards winning or being in any winning deck?
Apparently unleash was scary though, overload seems totally fair
(I like overload but yeah this is kinda silly let's all be honest anyone trying to say rak isn't bad I challenge you to run a single card spoiled for rakdos besides a sorcery removal spell...)
But regarding this card specifically. Kinda useful. No good token player will over extent to much. Might be alright in zombies for the mirror and a bit of extra reach. But often incinerate will be more useful.
I think that this will see some sideboard play in modern, with that last ability being great against Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker decks. They make a bunch of creatures, then all those creatures do damage to them.
Anyone who thinks this is is a good sideboard against tokens is just wrong.
You need to board wipe tokens, not deal damage to the player. Also to clarify, the card deals 1 damage for each creature, not each creature deals damage to a player. So even if someone has 4 6/6 creatures, it will only deal 4 damage.
Also, tokens only need a few of them on the board with anthems to kill you with combat damage. 4 flying Tokens + Intangible Virtue is already plenty enough that they don't need to overextend.
Ok let me attack this from a different angle. YES its a good sideboard card for R/B, pretty good one in fact. But, in order for a card to become sideboard material for a deck, the deck needs to EXIST first. And with what has been spoiled so far, every other guild outclasses Rakdos. Nothing suggests that R/B will be a deck except for a splash in some decks to play Dreadbore and maaaaaaaaaaaaybe Rakdos Return
I think that this will see some sideboard play in modern, with that last ability being great against Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker decks. They make a bunch of creatures, then all those creatures do damage to them.
Not really, they have moved towards restoration angel and they only need a handful of those to seal the deal.
This is what gets me the most.... I thought the charms were supposed to embody the guild ideas. Rakdos are a removal heavy guild. There's no creature removal on this at all. I'd have been happy with a hurly-burly effect or something (just non-flying fyi). This seems like another badly designed card. It's like they realized they needed these effects in the game and had no idea where else to put them.
That's exactly how I feel; they felt like these would be good options to put in the set, but had nowhere else to effectively put them. So Rakdos gets the shaft.
Seriously, how many awesome cards has Golgari gotten? How many busted spells have been spoiled for Azorius? So far, the only playable Rakdos spell is Dreadbore; everything else is either complete chaff, overpriced, or strictly limited fodder.
I don't need to run red and black and worry about tokens. Red and black have Mutilate and Bonfire, which actually kill the creatures. Charm's last ability is useful only one exact time: when he has a life total lower than the number of critters he controls. Any other time, this spell is useless.
As has been said, that last ability is tech against kiki-jiki/twin combo!

IIW for any CCC (pick the highest one in the list):
A high-costed equipment (I want it big, but make sure it isn't nutso-broken with Stoneforge. So a high equip cost or a benefit for casting or something)
A Squirrel Wizard
A G?? (1-3 colors, including green) legendary creature with its main strat based on not attacking
It actually allows you free buffs via things like Vampires (especially the RTR one!) before an alpha strike as well, that's actually a potential bonus, albeit a risky one like Rakdos is built upon.
The Innistrad vampires need to deal combat damage, so this won't pump them.
Not only that but Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius is the only card printed in a long while that can trigger on any damage to a player. And there are very few of those triggers that you would want to use with this anyway. o:"deals damage to a player" Only ones that could be beneficial are Goblin Lackey, Barbed Shocker, and Shocker. Most triggers that are not limited to combat damage are still limited to opponents, like Thieving Magpie. It does work with lifelink though, so if you have creatures with lifelink you lose less life, but that works for your opponent too.
"The rackdos colors are THE best at removing creatures right?!"
"Oh I know where you are going with this. The charm will pack a R removal, a B removal, and a spicy RB removal spell, right?
"What are you blathering about? Boss said rakdos must always have crappy cards, so removal is a no no. Shatter didn't make it into the last core set right? make sure that's on there..."

Feel free to tell me yours!

Don't they use pestermite? So you'll do them 11 and they'll still lethal you? I don't see how this is changing that... Unlike if this were 1 damage to each creature.

They also still use Deceiver Exarch, which would finish them. If you're in R/B (Jund), you can take them down low enough/disrupt them for long enough that this would finish them by the time they can combo with Pestermite(turn 4 or so).

Foreigning out SI, currently 33/75. The only thing better than a T1 kill is doing it with cards no one has ever heard of and/or can't read. If anyone has any of the usual pieces, PM me. I'm willing to buy/trade.
seems okay vs. the modern kiki-pod deck. blow up their pod OR possibly just kill them if they get greedy while comboing out (or if they combo it with bell-ringer instead of angel)
Destroy target Innistrad deck.
Blow up an Artifact.
Destroy target swarm player.
Loving it. Grixis Control is going to do work, especially if Delver stays big.
This sums it up perfectly. The only problem so far is that this charm doesn't have a mode for when nothing is going on. (Azorius draw 1, Selesnya token, Izzet loot). That said in curious if the Golgari charm will be a hoser charm as well.
Red should be burn, Goblins, Dragons, draw/discard, and Standard-unplayable 5CMC cards with insane, lengthy effects that take 10 minutes to figure out what they do and another 20 to actually make their effects work on the field.
And overall the ability to deal huge chunks of damage recklessly isn't that bad for standard right after a block dominated by tokens and in a block with shocklands. Weak overall but i guess Rakdos could do worse.
Tibalt is also flavourful. Flavour dont win games.
Why anybody would play rakdos at this pace besides flavour anyway.

Am I the only one who wants to play this with Biorhythm?
Sure it's not a winning strategy and at 6BRGG it's hard to play in a single turn, but it would be hilarious.
Having graveyard, artifact, and swarm hate all on one card is a lot stronger than most people seem to be taking it for. Especially at instant speed.
Consolidates sideboard slots, opening up more options for it, strengthening your board. Stop crying, oh ye of little knowledge.

I think we'll have to see how this one plays out in standard. It could be a factor but I'm not betting the farm on it just yet.

For all the complaints about it though, it is still a two mana Stronghold Discipline that is situationally a Shatter or Tormod's Crypt.
