Jace bounce was a -1. He could do it 3 times before he would die. Liliana can only do it once before having to do her +1. Overall very disappointed with her unless we get Madness.
Crap, you're right, she's not as good as one of the single most overpowered cards ever printed. Unplayable!
...I think you missed my point. I'm not saying WotC should consider it, obviously they do. Drawbacks on cards should be included because it forces the players to consider it.
Players considered them and overwhelmingly chose not to play them.
Oh, I thought he was talking about playing a spell that is countering a spell with counters on it as it comes into play, but I see you guys were just discussing whether he was flashing a creature with flash in order to flash a flashback or just flashing a creature with flash but not needing flash in order to flashback a spell without flash.
This seems a little excessive. I don't play legacy, but I was under the impression that Merfolk had too many good lords already. Functional reprints of Lord of Atlantis seems crazy.

Will be interesting to see in standard, though.
Merfolk is pretty unplayable ATM, there isn't even room for another lord honestly.

Ya I don't get this guy, why does blue need more aggro? Isn't a key problem with the state of color balance that blue has both good aggro and the best control cards? The most problematic archetypes in constructed have been for some time now the blue based tempo decks. Their existence stifles out far too many other archetypes and forces the meta to meta relative to their dominance. I do not want to see these kinds of cards around anymore for blue.
for R? This is red we are talking about. Didn't you know? Blue gets the cheap creatures now.
Red will probably get a 3RR lord or something
Traditionally Merfolk have always been 'Blue Sligh', but they've never had a mana:power ratio like Delver before. Jace's Phantasm and Delver of Secrets are simply bad design, but Merfolk, because they've been a tribal Army from the beginning, have always been able to put a good show on. But only starting at 2/2 for 1U's and up. If this had been a non-Merfolk aggressive Lord, then I would be more concerned with the validity of your statement.
Red is still getting the Vexing Devils and the Slumbering Dragons. Dragon may not look like much, but I'm sure it'll be good for something somewhere- it's a 1-drop rare. Those are hard to make so bad they don't see Constructed. In fact I don't think it's ever happened before.
I am probably every color-combination it is possible to be, though it's really hard to figure out what it would mean to be 4-colored....it doesn't seem logical to be 4-colored without being 5-colored.

Plus it forces your opponent to hold off on attacking otherwise you get an 8/8 flier for R
Merfolk is plenty playable in Legacy at the moment with combo decks on the rise. Its natural predators, Batterskull and KoTR aren't as popular as they were a few months ago. It also has a decent match up versus RUG Delver, not too mention Cavern of Souls makes the deck better.
As far as standard merfolk go, the options are very limited, but this guy is strictly better than LoA.

Huh? This is better than the other lords though. Cut Reejeray, stick vial at 2, good day sir.
Standard it's unplayable sure, but unless they're bringing Merfolk to Ravnica, this isn't supposed to be standard.

Foreigning out SI, currently 33/75. The only thing better than a T1 kill is doing it with cards no one has ever heard of and/or can't read. If anyone has any of the usual pieces, PM me. I'm willing to buy/trade.
could this be the first of the new lords cycle?
maybe we can have
elf lord with forestwalk
cat lord with plainswalk
goblin lord mountianwalk
vampire lord swampwalk
God I hope so. All the standard Vampire deck is missing right now is a decent 2 drop. There's several really good 3 and 4-drops, but the deck really can't exist without a 2-drop better than Vampire Interloper.

I think it makes more sense flavor-wise that Zombies get Swampwalk. After all, bodies are well-preserved in swamps. Vampires tend to just fly right over things. Plus we have Vampire Nocturnus. It's not impossible to have two vampire lords in the same set, but I think it's less probable than getting a zombie lord and a vamp one, especially considering that Liliana is somewhat of a focus in the set and she likes zombies more (Veilborn Ghoul, necromancy, etc.).
I'm just hoping that Master of the Pearl Trident isn't head and shoulders above the rest of the M13 lord cycle. If everything else is similar and at three mana, that will be disappointing.
I like this card very much, as it is certainly a better version of Lord of Atlantis in that it benefits only its controller. However, why does it not have a secondary creature type? Its artwork makes it look very much like a warrior, to me, so why is it not a "merfolk warrior?"

Yes, I also hope for a new cycle of "lords" in this core set, as it would be very odd for blue to be the only color with such a creature, and core sets are usually well-balanced among their colors.

Huh. Hard to believe, but there you have it. Apparently relentless rats decks don't become oppressive at 2 mana each
