And even if she became dark, how would she become a vampire?
(and the other dude above me)
Because magic. XP
In all seriousness, I'm pretty sure he's just being silly or something. The entire history of magic hasn't spliced angels with anything else, and we haven't heard anything crazy like that so don't worry :p.
It looks like something glowing and smoldering on his forehead. Given that, and his name, my guess would be it's a literal brand, but from what, and if it's magical and causes some sort of effect, I have no idea.
Liliana is after him. Maybe that mark on his forehead is her work.
I think Avacyn will be B/W. Its hard to ignore the whole "goth" look she has. Black lipstick, heavy black eyeliner/eyeshadow, and all black clothing. An all white angel does not wear any of that.
If not those clues, the fact that she was created by Sorin, Lord of Innistrad should be telling enough. Given the great amount of... zeal... that Avacyn takes in her duty at Sorin's behest per past Savor the Flavor articles, I'd say it's not out of reason to assume that her joy for killing non-humans to the brink of extinction alone warrants her a splash of black. Afterall, for all intents and purposes, she is the figure of life and death on Innistrad.
Since there are some angels here, we could see an Angel Captain of some sort, following the DKA cycle. I know the missing part is WG, but that fitss only humans and they do NOT need a captain, IMO.
So RW Angel Captain!
The art looks gorgeous, so I think my very first playmat will be one of these.
That won't happen. A 3cmc angel "lord"? Nah. But I'm guessing a 1GW human captain with vigilance and giving vigilance to humans is more likely to finish the cycle. (You know, humans finally fighting back monsters and such)
I think I'm one of the few who really likes that Demon art. I want the sleeves, box and mat. I mean, I already have a playmet, but that one looks so much better than Etched Champion.
2) Her rule of law is a cruel one of keeping balance between humans slaying monsters and monsters devouring humans. It is a perverse rule. (Think of the WBOrzhov, the corrupted church of ghosts.)
3) Vault of the Archangel needs WB, honestly the most convincing reason I've suspected her colors since its reveal.
4) Now we have other very convenient angels to accommodate this theory:
a)GW Angel starts the theory with unbelievably obvious influence of color: an angel, a traditional agricultural implement, and a lusciousness of green.
b)WU Angel's weapon then starts looking very iconic of blue wizard's staves. Her coloring also is quite blueish.
c)RW Angel is the biggest stretch, because the colors are a close match for each other when you think of angels who go on the march for exacting justice. But based on the others, her weapons make sense for her colors; dual swords were prevalent in Boros, which are also tell-tell signs of doublestrike since then. Her coloring seems to match.
So add in Avacyn and you have angels that expand every color.

A thought just occured to me and took some speculation, but in regards to the argument for Black to be in her mana cost or not, we probably have to take into consideration what know about the plane at this point. They added white to Sorin for the sake of his former human past and ties/loyalty to the humans of Innistrad according to his Savior the Flavor article. For that reason, Avacyn being black as well as white makes sense since he created her as has been mentioned several times.
But, the story we've been following as of Innistrad and the darkness climaxed with Dark Ascension. Humankind on Innistrad was against the wall, their numbers dwindling. If their numbers have dwindled that much, that means they're turned or dead, and the dead don't stay dead on Innistrad... especially with Mikaeus himself being corrupted and raised as a zombie. Avacyn, and possibly Sorin himself, have a a lot of cleaning up to do. There plane at this point is probably 10% humans, 90% abominations, if even that. That would take a lot of killing, practically a very zealous planar purge. Mechanically, R&D probably simply didn't want another large set with DFCs and felt two sets was enough. Some people have theorized that the moon was destroyed, but that would only stop Werewolves, not Zombies, Necromancers, or Vampires. If you take into consideration where the story was going, then flavor-wise you could argue that with the end of Dark Ascension... that perhaps there was almost no one left to turn. All this combined with the fact that Avacyn quite enjoys the zealous killing of monsters nearly to extinction previously, sets up a pretty good back drop for her being black as well as white.
(...now watch her be mono-white after all of that)
If you read it, you'll see that while peace is white's goal, it can go to great destructive lengths to obtain it.
Here's a quote from the article to prove my point:
White lives by its laws. As such, it cannot tolerate those that do not follow them. White views such disobedience very severely. The message white communicates is: “Break my laws and you will suffer.”
This is where white’s aggressive side comes from. White believes that it has a moral and civil right to stop what it considers to be evildoers. White sees this kind of an attack as being proactively defensive. If white does not stop them now, they will come later to hurt white’s way of life.
White/black is about using the powers of laws and order for your own interests. Avacyn has been protecting Innistrad for hundreds of years and has never asked anything in return except for humans to follow the law (typical white stuff)
Also, I'd feel it would be strange to have the "main card" of the second and third sets both be WB, on the other hand, if Avacyn is mono-white, it'd make a nice progression. Liliana of the VeilB Reflects how Innistrad is engulfed in darkness Sorin, Lord of InnistradWB Darkness is still present, but there is a glimmer of light
Avacyn W Light and balance have finally been restored

I'm usually the guy who is willing to advocate speculation based on art colors (may Sorin be forever remembered as a victory for the color speculators over the nonbelievers) but in general, the art actually has to legitimately suggest the color switch. Angels always have a variety of colors, even they're mono white. And in this case, they don't look like they are deviating too far from the expected palette for angels. Heck, the one you say looks quite blueish isn't really blueish at all. In case you don't believe me about the expanded color palette of white angels, I'll leave some cards here for you.
Angelic Arbiter (Is not red/white, though she looks like it) Archangel of Strife (Is not green or blue/white, even though the art could pass for it) Chancellor of the Annex (Is not black or white/black, even though she looks like it) Indomitable Archangel (Has no blue or black in it, though it could pass for it)

Ooh, good point about the shift from black to white. Also, I don't think that they would make a multicolored angels where one of the angels was a thousands times more important than every other card in the cycle. They generally tend to balance that sort of thin in cycles .-.

"White seeks peace. White wants everyone to get along.
Black seeks omnipotence. Black wants to have all the power for itself.
So how does one have both peace and omnipotence? By being the one that controls the peace. White/Black wants a world without pain and suffering. Although it understands it might need to use pain and suffering to achieve this goal.
White/Black believes in tough love.
It keeps you safe at the cost of all your liberties.
After all, what do you need liberties for if White/Black is taking control of everything for you?"

The coloring of the art is not enough to really predict anything about what the color a card will be.
Chris Rahn's blue colored angel is also holding a staff with a heron on it though and I think those seem to be associated with the blue cards in the block (Moon Heron or something, right?) and Nephalia maybe? I think there are good reasons to believe she's blue other than just the colors of the artwork.

It could possibly describe Avacyn. But then again, nearly every multicolor combination could possibly describe Avacyn. The thing is, we haven't really heard a lot about Avacyn's methods or personality or anything. She hasn't really been described as a "tough love" angel or an angel that keeps you safe at the cost of liberty or a "take control of everything" angel. Very little (if any at all) of the very little information we have on Avacyn and her methods suggest that she has the BW personality.

Yes, except that everything else in the article contradicts Avacyn.
If you read the White article though, everything fits.
If you carefully look at every small details detailing what a Blue card is, you'll probably find one that fits Avacyn, but that is by no means a proof she will be mono-blue. You need to look at the broader picture. Avacyn is a very important character, the sort that will serve as a symbol for her colours. She needs to fit everything a colour or colour combination means. And the only one she fits perfectly is White.
Maybe Avacyn will be WB, but if she is, it will be for totally different reasons than what have been posted on this forum.
Reminds me of the starsigns thing, where you think one matches you perfectly, but you read all the others and they match you just as perfectly.
E.g.:
I think Avacyn will be blue/black, because she shows a willingness to use extreme force and zeal in order to achieve her goal. Blue indicates great mental strength and mind strength, required to beat demons.
Or, she'll be green/red, because green is the color of natural balance and she's created to uphold balance; Red because it's the color of war and conflict, where she uses initiative to destroy things with total vengeance, ala akroma.
Or maybe red/black.
