I recall someone earlier in a thread here speculating that the helvault may in fact be part of the moon......and moonsilver spear lends just a bit more credit to that theory. (don't ask me where, I'm not going though the forums to find the post)
Most of the DFC isn't reliant on the moon. The helvault is made from the moon, which also begs the question why the spear isn't made of cheese (all moons are made of cheese, Wallace and Grommit said so). But seriously, I doubt the moon blows up. I could be wrong, but yeah. Also, gravity still exists on Innistrad, or the plane would crack in half, so the moon would most likely not be falling randomly to the plane unless some pretty crazy shenanigans happen.
But honestly, this is going to be an interesting thing to see how they get rid of the wolves. Zombies, maybe since order is being restored this will be where we get our "sac and do damage" outlet
Going into this block, me and my friends all made it a point to pick different tribes, so we'd have better trading experiences. I got stuck with humans and werewolves. With that said, the fact that the 2 AVR cards mentioned have "silver" in them, along with the fact that AVR is known to have no DFCs, I'm rather worried and annoyed....
Pure speculation but the focus on silver seems to definitely help the theory that AVR is about the humans overcoming the darkness. I'd be fine with that as it's been a long time since we left a plane in better shape than when we first got there. Wonder if the spear is going to be a good equipment for SFM.
Nothing in this game is degenerate or completely dominant. They haven't banned anything in standard in a long, long time. Hell they should have banned affinity right away, but they didn't until boxed sales collapsed too. Hasbro had to come in and fire people.
I'll enjoy watching all the whiners eat crow monday.

Don't judge a card by it's name. Remember Faith's Shield, which we all thought would be an Equipment (and even sorta sounds like one)?

An increase of things being made of silver isn't all that surprising. According to that sheet in the other topic, players will (paraphrasing) "get their own chance to bust open the Helvault". This obviously implies that, story-wise, the Helvault gets busted open (by whom, we don't know). It's on the record that the Helvault is a massive monument of silver. Helvault goes boom, Avacyn, Griselbrand, and all the other sealed things come out, and there's possibly a sudden, vast supply of silver for the humans to utilize. The humans saying the moon is made of silver is just due to a series of superstitious connections.
Silver beats monsters.
Avacyn beats monsters.
Avacyn must therefore be connected to silver.
Avaycn is associated with herons (for some reason).
There's a heron-shape on the moon.
Avacyn must therefore be connected to the moon somehow.
Avacyn is also connected to silver.
Therefore, the moon must be made of silver.
The Helvault is a massive piece of silver just sticking out of the ground.
The Helvault allegedly appeared alongside Avacyn.
Avacyn is connected to the moon.
Big hunks of silver don't just appear out of nowhere.
The Helvault must have come from the moon.
I'm sure Sorin snuck in a few of those connections when he helped found the Church of Avacyn. Some of those connections seem a bit of a stretch.

Stretch that any further, and we're end up with "Sorin created Avacyn using finest quality silver from the moon!"
I once farted during the final match for prizes at an FNM. It was a tense moment, everything was quiet, control vs control, I was about to mana leak, thought about it.. and farted. Then mana leaked.

While it's true that the card may not be an artifact/equipment I would bet on that before I would bet on it being a sorcery/instant. Pretty sure recently Maro or Aaron or someone else said that they prefer to have prerelease cards as creatures since everyone understands them and it appeals to new players. They reserve non-creature cards for when new mechanics are introduced/re-introduced (Mirrodin equipment cycle / Ajani for Planeswalker / Comet Storm for multikicker).

I don't understand why people are making connections to the moon being destroyed to the fact that no DFC's are in the set. I don't think a silver moon has anything to do with Ludevic's Abomination being hatched, or a bat turning into a vampire, or a chalice transforming, etc. I could be wrong.

This isn't quite true. Just because two things share some quality does not imply correlation. Let me give you an example:
Cats are mammals.
Dogs are mammals.
Therefore, Dogs are Cats.
But honestly, this is going to be an interesting thing to see how they get rid of the wolves. Zombies, maybe since order is being restored this will be where we get our "sac and do damage" outlet
To be fair, just because there are not DFCs in this set does NOT mean we won't see Zombies and the like... they just won't be quite the same as they are in the first two sets.

Or the moon has been completely destroyed and shattered, which might also explain why there aren't any DFC's in AVR.

That's pretty cool.
Maybe, maybe not. The two Spears previously printed (Scorching Spear, Psychic Spear) are both sorceries.

Anyway, "moonsilver" is already a thing used to make weapons on Innistrad. It's not something new, coming from the Helvault, etc.
