This is four months in a row of seeing bad cards. Resurrection, Desert, Serrated Arrows, Elvish Visionary, Browbeat, Watchwolf are the only bad cards I see when I look at the list of promos since the beginning of 2008. Now we get Jace's Ingenuity and Teetering Peaks and which are as bad as any of those cards. They just have so many better options for promos.
Teetering Peaks sees virtually no play at all in Commander. On the other hand, something like Bojuka Bog or even Halimar Depths would have been a hell of a lot better if Wizards wanted to stick to the "let's pick a Zendikar block land that's about to rotate out" theme.
Sarcasm? Anyone? No? Not getting it? *sigh*
I think the problem comes from the fact that Wizards chooses these promos way ahead of time. I think they assumed that Teetering Peeks was going to be better and more used than it actually turned out to be.

They expected a Barbarian Ring use for the card is my guess when they decided to print it up for FNM probly almost a year ago.

Watchwolf isn't bad and Visionary saw plenty of play, but yes the promos have been lackluster, on top of switching to the star instead of the FNM logo. Looks cheesy to be honest.

They still knew the card was rotating out of Standard.
Card is bad and fairly useless. Mediocre art too. Well, that's not the artist's fault. Essentially, the card depicts a bunch of rocks. How could that ever be made to looking exciting?
Poor choice all around for artwork and playability. Wonder how bad October's promo will be...
This is beyond disappointing really. I've been fine with getting cultivates this month, the art is great and it's good for EDH. Teetering Peaks is comparatively boring and almost useless. And the fact that the promo will rotate soon yet again makes me wonder when Wizard's trolling will end.
Also does anyone actually know why they decide so far in advance? I doubt they need to

I can think of two reasons. One, they plan almost everything else about this game in advance, why not promotional materials? Two, it gives them time to send out art directions, and it gives the artist time to do his thing. I mean yeah, it sucks, but hopefully as a promotion for next year we'll start getting fun, playable cards that aren't rotating out within a few months
What happened to FNM. I used to get cards like Willbender, Wing Shards and Cabal Coffers. I loved it when Wizards gave me cool cards for playing their game. Maybe they don't like me anymore......

That would be a bad choice even in 2010 though. Worst promo of the year, even Artisan of Kozilek is more useful
Jan, Everflowing Chalice: Good
Feb, Spellstutter Sprite: Not Standard, but very good anyway.
Mar, Wall of Omens: Fine
Apr, Artisan of Kozilek: Fine EDH card.
May, Squadron Hawk: Best FNM promo since Bloodbraid Elf
June, Rhox War Monk: Bad. Not in Standard, and a fringe card for Extended (and now Modern)
July, Jace's Ingenuity: Bad, and about to rotate.
August, Cultivate: This would be OK at best, and now it's rotating.

Heck, I'd take a basic mountain over something I can't and refuse to play.

Why are you doing this to your players, WotC? Do you hate us that much really?
According to card valuation, Teetering peaks is actually about 24x worse than tec edge. Its sad
