Guys do you know how much is this worth? Right now foil dark confidants go for more than 100$, maybe 150$ depending on language?
...
I don't wanna know how much this one is gonna be.
it is about $100 just like the original foil.

It's price is nowhere near set yet. Let's also remember that this is the Judge mailer, and it isn't going to appear in every Judge's foil packs in multiples at GPs/PTs -- every Judge gets 1, then that's it.
Loving the fact that they kept the original art and went with the old-school border for this promo, i'd love to get a playset but i'm better these will be crazy expensive.
The original art wasn't great....looked like one of those weird dudes you see getting way too into Standard at FNM. Those guys are the worst.
Well hanging around those guys can help you at Magic (they often know a lot of stuff that can help you out, especially about standard) it just hurts to keep them around sometimes.

You've got a rat in your walls, and cheese won't solve anything.
I'm going on record right now and stating that before the end of 2012 we will see foil dual lands in booster packs (The real, Alpha dual lands). You can quote me on that.
Old frames >>>>>>>>>>>> New frames. I would be so happy if every single card was available in the old frame and as a foil. I know what I'll be spending money on soon. I'm loving these judge promos in the old frames though; Sofai was the hotness when it was spoiled. This is a huge announcement to me can't wait to get ahold of 4 of these. Can't wait for these to become widespread. The price I'm betting they settle at is around 65

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
Ditto. I started with Unlimited, and I think these "old school" promos are hideous.
I've been playing since Fallen Empires and I can't agree. My only problem is with the watermark. I wish the promos had a little more consistency. Sure, change them after a while, but it seems the FNM/Gateway promos are ever changing and I guess Judge foils are too.
Just got mine in the mail today...here is a high res shot of it.
DCI logo looks like trash, and the Star would still be better in a tinier form at the bottom of the text box (like the actual older foils). Combined with a mediocre art (seriously, Meddling Mage got sexy art treatment, where's this Wizard's overhaul?).
Definitely not something I'd pay more than a normal foil for. The normal foil looks cleaner. This looks cluttered as hell. They finally remove the ugly FNM logo from the art box, just to add this? I'm happy with the new foils just as much as the old ones, but how is this a good thing?
For shame. Missed opportunity on one of the best cards ever printed.
I once farted during the final match for prizes at an FNM. It was a tense moment, everything was quiet, control vs control, I was about to mana leak, thought about it.. and farted. Then mana leaked.

I started around Ice Age, but back then I was young so I was familiar with the sets but I remember clearly that 4th Edition was out then and Alliances was released not too long after.
That being said, I can't agree with you, I love the old frames with a passion and want nothing more than for Wizards to return to them. When I first saw the new frame in 8th I thought it was a joke and when it happened I stopped playing for a short while because it was just that visually repulsive.

'Repulsive' might be a strong word but I know quite a few players who stopped for a while.
I know I hated it when it first came out and stopped for a while after Mirrodin block was finished. But now coming back to the game, I honestly like the new frames better, they are a lot cleaner and easier to read than the old frames. I also don't get why people like the really old bordered/templated cards from like Alpha/Beta/Arabian Nights/The Dark, I think they look really ugly :-/.

On Mono Black in Commander:

But whomever your commander is, Cabal Coffers is really in charge.
The old frame foils were so much better than the new ones. They were shiny all over the place. I still hate the new frame, and I dont understand why Wizards wasnt goin to borderless, frameless cards right away.
I completely agree. My first judge promo, and I'm gonna be trading it away, because I can't stand old-frame cards.
o come on. The old frames are classic, and the old foils are even better. They have nestoliga to them as well. Cause they were the card frames you used to learn to play

Unlimited pre-Arabian Nights (in my area, anyways), December 1993, by the way. First pack had a Mox Ruby.
Anyways, when the new frames came out my first reaction was, "OMG, they're hideous! They're trying to change the game to Yu-Gi-Oh or something!".
I don't hate the old frames, in fact it was things like black bordered Cockatrice in old frames (Timeshifted) that got me back into the game in full. I just never liked old frames and foiling. And I do very much prefer the new frames, now.
Well, old frame or not, I'm certainly not going to object to a free foil version of a Legacy staple card. Got mine in the mail today, and it is very sexy looking. I don't know what I'm going to do with it, since I don't play black Legacy decks, and its a terrible, horrible EDH card, but I think I'll hang onto it for a while, maybe trade it away for a nice dual or something if the opportunity comes up.
Why is everyone focusing on the merits of the old border instead of how awesome Wizards is for sending out free foils?

Considering it must have costed about $ 0.01 a piece to manufacture... I guess they're just giving something back to people who dedicates so much money and time to their game.
Oh and BTW, old borders >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> new borders any day, specially blue, with the turquoise template... was pretty awesome.
Ok, now aside from that, something more important - how about we figure out the rarity of it?
So, judges! Please tell more - have you got just one or more of them? Have there been also any other promos included? Have you judged any major events (PT/GP/Nats/...) in the last months which might have qualified you for that?
I wonder how many of these are printed compared to the Ravnica foil ones.

wizards pays all their judges in product, which is actually genius cause it costs them nothing... however, i'd rather get cold hard cash WITH these promos.

Once you figure in everything (hotel, product, foils, etc.), you generally get about $1k in compensation for working a GP. I'm perfectly fine with not getting it in cash (and it being non-taxable).
EDIT: This is before figuring in any expenses, and assuming you count the hotel as comp.
it is about $100 just like the original foil.

Yeah uhh..that's being a little over-dramatic.

Always severely disliked old foils. Rather have a non foil of old style card...
