Sol Ring is also not strictly better than either of them (although it's obviously better most of the time).
None of those cards provide more mana than they cost. Which means none of them can accelerate you on the same turn they come into play. There are two artifacts that do that and still untap the next turn (again, unless I'm missing something), and they are Sol Ring and Mana Vault. They other cards only accelerate you on subsequent turns, and are therefore not variants of Sol Ring.
Keeping Mystifying maze open means you can't do anything else though. Also it's horrible vs any creature with a ETB ability. Are we really discussing this?
Maze is better 75% of the time, but in EDH it is different. EDH is full of cards like Bribery, Acquire, and Blatant Thievery. Against those cards Mystifying is a lot better than Ith.
they are variants of Sol Ring in the same form that Greed and Yawgmoth's Bargain are variants of Necropotence. They all work differently and are varying levels of playability, but they are still the same concept.
In the case of those other artifacts, they are the "fixed" version of sol ring, of sorts, simply because Wizards figured out Sol Ring was at least semi-broken, just as Necropotence and Yawgmoth's Bargain are at least partially broken.
Also, Mana Vault doesn't untap the next turn without being paid for, that's Mana Crypt. If you include Mana Vault, you have to include Grim Monolith. Also, to be fair, it's possible to get more mana out of an Everflowing Chalice than what you put into it, however it's not exactly a function of the card itself.

Necropotence isn't 'at least partially broken'. Necropotence is bonkers. Sol Ring and broken don't even feel like they belong in the same sentence. It is very very good, but in a format where you're only allowed one of each card, it hardly seems unfair. Just really, really good.

I don't think a single Mox Pearl would break an EDH deck either. Does that mean the moxen aren't broken?

Having played numerous games against Necropotence, I can assure you it isn't as broken as Y.Bargain is. This discussion has been beaten to death over in the EDH Forum's Banlist Discussion thread.

Practice for Khans of Tarkir Limited:
Draft: (#1) (#2) (#3) (#4) (#5)
That's not the same situation. The moxen are banned because of their monetary cost, not because they are degenerate.
Good thing these decks are designed for multiplayer.
