And here the EDH people were afraid MTGS might sabotage another of their previews, when LOOK OUT WotC does it. Seriously. Lightning Greaves is completely lost in the news of Sol Ring.
Which, by the way, is a card I don't have and am eager to pick up in each and every Commander deck I buy. And is awesome and powerful. And I will be happy.
And I know I shouldn't start sentences with "and".
SCG is down to 2 Counterpunch (BWG) decks available for pre-order, and that's it. Everything else, ie, the 4 other decks and the set of five, is long out of stock.
I am definitively getting the UBG and the WBR decks now.
I didn't doubt that they had them still for sale, but when they anticipate a wave of business they manage the way they advertise stuff very carefully.
Since Sol Ring was announce miniaturemarket has sold EIGHT full sets. I think that is pronounced DAYum.
Finally. One less card to switch between sleeves whenever I play a different deck.
I was going to wait to order these, but I guess that'd be a mistake now.
As a player, I'm both excited and dreading the revelation. It's going to inflate the prices of the decks for one, which means that for me to acquire them (due to my temporal limitations of not being able to buy anything until well into July) is going to be very expensive. I'm bummed out I can't buy from SCG for their 5-for-4 deal already beforehand, now I'm not sure if I'd be able to acquire them all now that it's going to become a budget problem on top of that. Like Planeschase and Archenemy, it's going to be fairly limited a print set unless Wizards decides not to do something like that this time around.
I must say though, that it's pretty darn awesome to have sol rings in a more commonly acquired for casual players. I think that's a good thing for the community as a whole.
Fantastic. I have two decks preordered, and I'll be able to gloat to this one "friend" about getting such a money uncommon plus almost 200 more cards for only $20 more.
The other big uncommon is Sensei's Top. On one hand it's amazing, on the other hand, they don't like it slowing down games.
Besides slowing games down, Top has the problem of also being a very desirable Legacy card, which means it's unlikely to be reprinted here. (While Sol Ring is a Vintage staple, Vintage is far less played than Legacy and Sol Ring is restricted there anyway.)
so whats this gonna do to the value of sol ring? anyone have an idea?
Since these are probably going to be the most desirable cards in the five decks, my guess is that the new Sol Rings will be around $5-6 while Revised Sol Rings will drop to $9-10.
Awesome! I own an unlimited Sol Ring, and love it to death, but now I can get more, for all of my EDH decks, on the cheap. I still think the original Sol Ring will retain value as the art + old school border just make it more "pimp". Great news, and very unexpected, yet also very expected. Love you WotC!

I don't know how I feel about this. I am happy that such a card will be available to the masses now. I am not too pleased that my copies that I picked up will probably drop. Oh well, if it gets more people into this format to play with then it is worth it. Plus, the Judge ones probably shouldn't take much of a hit. Neither will Beta or the FTV ones either. The power of foil and Beta.
If Revised Sol Rings do drop down to around $10, I'll be a bit sad since I have 2 of 'em as well as the FTV one. Oh well, I'll get over it, and I'll still probably run the old ones in my 2 "main" decks, since I prefer that art much more then the FTV one, but maybe that's because I don't like the foil... Ehh
On one hand this is awesome, on the other I didn't have anything pre-ordered and this will likely jack up prices past $30 a deck where I'm at.

If Sol Ring is going to be printed in EDH Decks then there would possibly be Sensei's Divining Top as well since it's power level is nowhere near this. On the plus side we get the Sol Ring in FTV art. I wonder if they would reprint Aether Vial as well. Can;t wait and see.
#1 - What's the dumbest idea you ever had?
#2 - 15/15 for 15?
#1 - Make it dumber
#2 - Give it protection from removal and counter?
#1 - DUMBER!
#2 - Add Timewalk?
#1 - DAMN IT MAN, I SAID DUMB!! DUMB !!!
#2 - It destroys everything when it attacks.... And wait, I have a friend who plays mill decks... I want to beat him too.
#1 - Excellent! Recess is over, go back and learn sex-ed with the other 6th graders.
Good. I hate playing when there's the guy forced to play jank because he can't afford cards like sol ring. Hopefully these precons will have more staples like this. Heck, I know guys that don't even have a Rhystic Study, if that's not in the blue decks *facepalm*
Totally agree on Top too.

Vial is banned in commander.
EDIT: Oops. I guess I just assumed it was for some stupid reason. meh.

Why, were you holding yours explicitly to sell them later?
It annoys me that some people worry more about their inventory of cardboard losing a little value than the accessibility of the format to new players.
