Hmmm idk if this is real. I mean its not improbable at all and seems legit. I just think it would be announced from wotc before anyone else unless this is a indie project

Yeah only problem i see is maybe screen size

So it's 'real' in the sense that a developer has made a playable version but as far as being legit, right now it is not; if it were actually being licensed my wager would be that would be a reason for the lack of updates but I would think that corporate would prefer to keep such a thing under wraps until it's closer to release.
Like Sidestepper mentioned, I'm not sure if you can do something like MtG on a device if 2 players are sharing 1 device... unless you really, really, really trust your opponent It does make responding to spells trickier in that case but conversely I don't see why you couldn't design it to play as a 1P game with Coop/2P mode added in for extra devices.
Personal preference but for a game like MtG I would have gone for a landscape view rather than portrait since generally the field (and your hand) is viewed as expanding horizontally more than vertically. He could also introduce, say, a combat view overlay onto the field, zooming in more to handle combat but still being able to 'tap' back to the regular board to assess the situation. It's a good start and while I'd love for it to go further I'm thinking that WotC might have issues with the current deployment as well as needing to reassess his solutions for various issues that would come up such as targeting size for touch targets, handling combat efficiently, etc.
Yeah, if there was an official iPhone/iPad magic app then we'd know about it from Wizards long before actual details were spoiled. And Mark Rosewater would be hinting at it even before that, as he's said in the past that he really wants an official Magic iPhone app and has been trying to get one made.
Considering there is that mythical new MTGO client that is a web app coming out, I can see a smartphone-based version on the horizon. Which probably doesn't bode well for this particular app getting approval from WotC.

Have we heard anything new recently about that? It seems to have just dropped off the map.

Cube. The best way to play Magic. PERIOD. Come over and check it out. Also, check out my Peasant Split Card Cube.
The World of Pokemon RPG has been rebooted. Come over and check it out.
And yeah. Seeing as Android actually has access to flash and whatnot, this would be easier on there.
That being said, MTGO feels awkward enough already, I don't see decent game coming out for phones anytime soon. Small screen, would take forever to get through turns, not countin ig interactions with the other player, etc... 2 people on one phone sounds so awful.
That being said, Momir Basic might work if you could connect to an opponent..? Little more streamlined gameplay, though abilities could clog things up.
I'd love a Bestiare style draft system app for iphones that lets you connect with other phones, filling out empty seats with bots if you have less than 8 players (or filling them out online with real people)...
I doubt wizards would make it though. It'd cut into their overhead. Who would pay for a draft if you could draft for free?
@Masamune: Nokia still has a few smartphones (keep in mind a lot of innovations were theirs first, just done awkwardly) on the market helping them keep up but mostly they're the leading luxury phone brand. I don't see the appeal in bedazzled bar phones made from rare metals, but apparently enough people do.
It would be a little embarrassing if an app is released for just iPhone. Android and iPhone simultaneously? Sure. That's probably the best way to go.
because top of the line android phones have a bigger screen than the iphone so it would be easier to see cards/the table.
Biggest reason is that Android supports a bunch of stuff like Flash that iphone isnt.
So the potential is bigger on Android, but the overall idea is great, as playing on a smartphone is so much better than on a computer, making magic online mobile is a giant step they have to make at a point in the future.
However, i once played via the "camera" of iphone with a friend "real" magic, that was quite fun actual ^^.
If a magic app was to come out, I would guess it would come out for the iPad. The screen is MUCH larger and would be 1,000X easier to use.
Scrolling the internet on smartphones is fine and not much issues, but having to play magic? Could you imagine if you were zooming in on ur screen, and accidentally make a play b/c of that?
if i want to play MTGO on a tablet, i will just get the HP Touchsmart Laptop. though, it would be kinda cool on things like the iPad and the Samsung Galaxy Tablet that is coming out in a few weeks.
Clearly this is a person who is trying to get WOTC to work with him and hire him to complete the project. the videos are of what you do with a demo of your app as you program it, and while nice, I suspect WOTC has already been heavily involved in making their own iPhone app. They probably brought the person on board to continue with their app if there has been no updates in a month, or the person received a cease and desist order. This will never see the light of day.

You give them FAR too much credit.
Anyway the "next" version of MTGO, in whichever decade that is released, is supposed to be web based. The irony is that Apple will bullheadedly not support the Silverlight let alone Flash that usually powers these things. It's possible they could develop an environment that will run the web scripting in their own mac app, but given their general competence, I doubt this will happen anytime soon.

If they were keen enough, they'd do it similiar to Minecraft--web or app. I doubt it though...especially considering Minecraft is a completely different animal (see: Customization, one-time fee, etc...).

I think you give flash much more credit than it deserves. iPhone games had never been lacking due to not using flash. Flash (I would assume) only makes them easier to create. Remember, flash is old tech anyway.
That said there shouldn't be a phone play app for magic. Too much info and too small a space.
There should be a legit way to play magic on macs and ipads though.

I would love to see an (official) MTG app for the iPhone and iPad. Honestly it's a perfect match. If the programmers and designers are good/smart enough then there are plenty of ways to take care of any shortcomings people may envision (small screen size, small play area, the other player seeing your cards, etc etc). Some people seem to be thinking there aren't thousands of other games on these devices that work great.

But none involve as many objects with text on them as magic.
Wotc needs to get in on an official gatherer app for all phones and an official life total app IMO.

Why? Is there an actual reason for that, or are you only saying it because you use an Android phone? (I do too, by the way - I love my Droid X).
