Sure, it's bad against "187" creatures. (how did the name get started btw?)
187 is police code for homicide. It was originally used in reference to Nekrataal (and sometimes Man-o'-War) in reference to their offing a creature when coming into play.

This card is sweet, nice throwback to maze of ith. Yeah it's expensive to activate, but it does the job and doesn't leave them untapped. Deals with conscription quite nicely.
it's crucial in UW control, especially the mirror. I like to Maze gideons (extremely important when they're stocking up on counters and/or looking to punch through), baneslayers, and manlands, not to mention it stops a slow sovereigns/conscription dead.
Paying 4 is a bit pricy, but it in U is stupid good
True about Tec Edge(that it would get Edge'd immediately in that matchup), and I do believe that it would strain the base a little more as it would no doubt replace land(s) that can tap for a color with itself (that cannot).
If Spreading Seas stays a 4-of, things get a little more complex as having more cololess lands forces the option to Seas yourself out of color screw more than if it were, say, a Fortress or an Island. The reward (IMO) is better than the risk since most of the UW decks only need UU and W to get rolling.
What this card says about other archetypes I dare not touch at this time.
It's not a horrible card, nor is it great. The only miscarriage of justice here is that it carries the word Maze in its name. There has not been a worse homage card since Ancestral Memories.

Why? It carries the flavor of a maze nicely (the creature runs into the maze and gets lost). Although it is much worse than Maze of Ith, but that was to be expected.
I love this thing. Remove attacking creature from play cards are awsome and they come back tapped. I wonder how this will work with Jideon in Creature mode. Will it come back or will it stay removed from the game, cause he will not be a creature anymore after he is removed from play, he will be a PW again, and how can you return the creature back is it's not a creature you know? Other then that I see this guy being crazy with stuff like the titans and Broodmate Dragon type cards. will be really fun to have it enteract with a few other things as well. See this going into the $15-$20 range quick.

Giving your opponent more creatures is not a good thing. The "Target opponent controls" clause nerfs some of the fun that could be had
.
As far as Gideon, he comes back tapped as a planeswalker, I believe.

Probably talking about the token there, considering it completely dies when it gets hit by this maze.

Please remember to autocard, just do [ card ] CARD NAME [ / card ] and for decks you can cover the whole thing in one deck tag like this: [ deck ] All of the cards in the deck [ / deck ]
This seems to be to be an "ok" card, for casual and EDH where budget is a concern, there are better options. I *might* run one in some of my EDH decks, mostly my mono colored ones, but that's going to be about it. I don't see this card being run in any of my other casual decks (all vintage legal). Taking up a colored producing slot will be too much for multicolored decks of mine to deal with.
Vintage offers many more options to deal with threats, Since i don't play anything other than casual vintage and it's variants, i won't comment on it's playability in type 2.
All of you players who dont like this card must not have been playing magic very long and on top of that dont see that this card makes mana & taps a creature down. So for 4 mana @ instant speed you wouldnt tap a creature down?
T1: It produces mana
T2: You have 2 mana (potentially 3 or Mana Leak mana)
T3: You have 3 or more mana so you can tap down a creature if it resolves on your opponents next turn or just save your mana to counter another spell.
Complaints were that the 2nd ability costs too much, its a worse maze of ith, ect ect ect.... If it was free then it would be a better maze of ith but the thing that sets this apart is its a land. Maze cant make mana nuff said. 3 mana would make my above point more correct and make it alittle too strong for standard.
This is a very good and balanced card... Im getting excited just thinking about how fun magic is going to be again!
This card is a LAND that produces MANA. If you're playing 1-2 colors only, it's a very easy fit. For this reason alone, it can become a staple. Much like manlands, the activation cost is fairly steep, but think about it, IT IS A LAND!
Sure, there are better ways to answer creatures, but are they lands? No. They cost a spell slot. Yes you can play DoJ or Gideon to kill creatures outright, but that's not the point. This card is a LAND. It's not counterable (which I feel will matter in the near future). Much like how raging ravine gives jund an extra critical card to attack with, the maze gives control plays an extra line of defense, all the while producing MANA.

This card will rock standard for sure. And...maybe make an apparition in control decks in new extended too..it's very strong.
I'm feeling a lot of myself about peoples reactions, but you just have to figure that a lot of the posters at this forum are players that started in Lorwyn and really haven't seen what control is yet. Anyone who doesn't recognize the sheer power of this card and its frightening applications in Standard are either;
A) Bad at Magic, or
B) New to Magic.
Once they start getting hit with Day of Judgment's and their opponents start saving counterspells to let their creatures resolve because they have this land active, then they will come around.
5 mana for a maze of ith isn't that good. It might get played but it won't break anything.
Ok so proof that you dont know what youre talking about is you cant count or read... The second thing yall dont understand is if you get this card early or late game it doesnt matter. It seems like people dont remember combo winter... Even if players started around Lorwyn thats still no excuse. They had a control deck that ran 12+ counters in it and it was control and nuts... Its called Faeries...
Quote me on saying this now... but they ushered in a new age of powerful cards that give you 2 & 3 for 1s and on top of that they came up with mechanics such as cascade.... You better believe that combo winter will be back in the next few sets. It wont be as bad as the 1st or the 2nd one but it will come back again.

I was with you on the first part of your post, but you lost me when you started reminiscing about combo winter. What does this card have to do with that?
Probably talking about the token there, considering it completely dies when it gets hit by this maze.
If so it's even worse!
On the broodmate part hitting the token with it means your opponent misplayed or is winning the game on that attack or the next one, on SGC the target token can just be flung, and on Grave Titan there's still 8 power coming with 4 more being made.
I'm not arguing the points at you, just doing it for the sake of it.

Maze was more of an artifact that took up a land drop since it had no other use whatsoever.
