Hmm, either a creature or a spell. The action of it looks more like a spell to me, maybe removal, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to just be an Angel.
The lack of halo is interesting. Since the halos were apparently symbolic of the angels being bound by some force or pact, the fact that it's gone is absolutely linked to the Eldrazi's release. I wonder if anything similar will happen regarding similar beings in other Zendikar cultures, like Emeria or Cosi?
Finally, some good old-fashioned carnage. Maybe we'll get to see an Eldrazi with Nicol Bolas in a headlock? I mean they have to do something nice to show how sickeningly powerful these beings are.
So I can't speculate that the angel has CMC 3 or less and it's someone sending the new Smother at her?
But seriously, thanks for posting this. I completely forgot to look for it today and I don't have one on me I don't think (haven't checked the prizepack token/tip backs!)
So if I were to say "you're a complete douchebag who has his head up his ass so far he's using his own eyeballs as glasses," you'd simply shrug it off?

Yeah, but every angel from the plane of Zendikar so far has had a halo that covers its eyes, and has been mentioned by articles and such that it has some significance. The fact that this Zendikar angel has no halo is significant.
Hmm... the angel looks sort of like it's becoming something else. I wonder, do the Eldrazi infect other beings with their Eldraziosity?

I have seen art that's supposed to be for RotE with a picture of a guy that's all painted like a vampire, but has the 6 angel wings and no Geordie LaForge halo. I also remember reading somewhere (sieve memory, can't remember where) that the angels wear their halos low to symbolize a debt that they owe, or a stain on their collective honor. Something like that.
I know, I'm not much help. Hopefully I can trigger someone else's better memory, though?

I don't remember that art, but you're right about the halos. From this article:
Emeria Angel, like most angels in Zendikar, bears a halo worn low over her eyes, signifying a strange debt to some forgotten force in Zendikar's past.
It could be that this "forgotten force" is the group of three Walkers who imprisoned the Eldrazi long ago; the angels wear the halos in gratitude/respect for those who saved the plane from the Eldrazi. Now that the seal is broken, the debt is broken also, which explains why the halo is gone.
Really doubt it's a planeswalker; The art looks nothing like the kind of art of previous planeswalkers. The positioning of "humanoid figure fighting off an attacker" is practically always either a creature or a spell of some sort.
We don't know the exact mechanics of what a "Luminarch" does. It could just be summoning the Angels that are already existant on the plane, not creating new ones. Where summoned creatures come from is something that isn't very well-defined in Magic; sometimes they seems to be created entirely from magic, sometimes it seems that they're just transported from some other location.
It just seems the simplest explanation would be to say that the halos were connected to the Eldrazi seal. It's simple, and it makes sense with what we know. No need to overcomplicate things when a simpler explanation is available.
So what is ROE? Is it an independant set? Cause it thought "Lights" was the conclusion of the Zendikar block..
Rise of the Eldrazi is a large (249 card) set, which is mechanically independant from Zendikar and Worldwake. It is technically its own separate "block," since it has its own block theme (not Lands) and will be drafted all by itself, without ZEN or WWK boosters.
It does take place on the same plane as Zendikar and Worldwake, but at a time after the Eldrazi creatures have broken free of their prisons and are spreading destruction across the plane.

Independent set. It follows from the story of Zendikar and takes place on the same plane, but is mechanically unrelated and it meant to be drafted by itself. It's kind of like Coldsnap, but hopefully better.

Well thanks for the knowledge. =) so does this at all affect standards cycle?
It seems like a sort of tendrils-like spell. It also seems like our angel is being corrupted into a vampire or something. The loss of the halo could be because of the release of the Eldrazi, or that the vampires/Eldrazi figured out a way to corrupt an angel, making them lose their halo in the process.
Best my Iphone could muster.
