And Big dumb guy is double red for 4/4... seriously? all of them have been 1 color and 1 colorless so they can be played in other decks... so how is this card suppose to be the next great 2cmc for red if its just a better leatherback baloth..

no need for haste. it pings 4 times if it isn't exiled, and it also has the potential to get bigger for some beats. also, the 1 toughness balances it out fairly well so it isn't too powerful.
i'd play this card in just about every deck i could. not because it's broken, but because it'd be so much fun =)

Trying to design a card that meets the broken 2-drop requirements, there's a few things we need to note:
1. It should cost 1R, despite any attempts at making it cost RR to balance it. This card is not supposed to be balanced, it's supposed to be borderline OP. It's dealing with comparison to Goyf, Snapcaster, Stoneforge and Bob, they're all very powerful cards.
2. It should be playable outside of a specific archetype. That is, we don't want it to be some Goblin specific card, or have it only playable in Goblins. All of the other broken 2-drops are flexible in what decks they can play in.
3. It has to have an effect that is solely beneficial to us. Say what you want about Bob, but there really isn't anyone who considers the trigger detrimental. We also note that this ability can't be something counteractive like Ash Zealot's, it has to be proactive.
4. The effect needs to be flavourful to the colour pie. Each of the broken 2-drops did something that colour liked to do. Even though Stoneforge seems the least thematic it is still fairly thematic.
5. We want to make sure this card is good at all stages in a game. It's fine if it has to wait a turn to do something, but it has to always be a live top deck.
Here's my attempt:

This creature deals damage equal to its power to target player when it comes into play.
Backfire Mage
1R
Devil Wizard
Haste
When Backfire Mage enters the battlefield, target permanent deals damage equal to its converted mana cost to target creature or player. He brings your knife to the knife fight.
3/1
Maybe 3 power is too much? He's always worth at least 2 damage on ETB. Helps aggressive decks have an out after slower decks stabilize and cast giant things. For older formats, he's obviously hilarious against Show and Tell/Emrakul and Tinker/Blightsteel (since the permanent deals the damage, Infect still works, right?).
I went with Devil since I think it fits the flavor of mischief inherent in smacking people in the face with their own stuff. "Stop hitting yourself" indeed.
Edit: 3 power is way too much. Even 2 is 4 damage the turn he drops. I shall leave it as a monument to broken things.
Seismic Elemental 1R
Double Strike
Landfall - Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, Seismic Elemental gets +1/+1 until end of turn.
Sacrifice two mountains: Seismic Elemental gets +2/-1 Until end of turn
A Red enchantment that punishes the use of nonbasics. I love Tron decks, but I also really want to see more monocolored decks doing good.
Cost of Progress 1R
Whenever a nonbasic land enters the battlefield, ~ deals damage to that land's controller equal to the number of nonbasic lands he or she controls.
That's too good. If played turn 2 on the play, it'll put out 4 damage (on top of the -1 life for a fetch and possible -2 to come untapped). Way too good.
Would make more sense to be something like, whenever a nonbasic cip ~ deals 1 damage to target player.
That kind of verbiage is typically avoided. Wizards doesn't like to use the stack as a reference in abilities.
Does "spell you control" ever come up in cards? I think that might be better. I'd prefer not to have something like "for each spell played this turn". It would end up being a little too broken. Also because grapeshot. Also it's a ymtc. I think wizards can let it slide as a nod to older cards that "break the fourth wall."
When ~ enters the battlefield, it deals 1 damage to target creature or player, or 9 damage to target creature named Tarmogoyf.
For the rest of the game, no card named Snapcaster Mage, Dark Confidant, Tarmogoyf, or Stoneforge Mystic may enter the battlefield for any reason.
Sac ~: choose one – destroy target equipment, exile up to eight card types from any number of graveyards, target player discards cards equal to the number of extra cards they've drawn this game, or target player who cast a spell from a graveyard this turn apologizes and gives you ten dollars.
2/2
It can't kill Stoneforge Mystic upon ETB, but it can block it.
This thread sealed my vote. Enchantment it is. let's make it red.

YMTC: We need a spikey red enchantment. My creations:

-or-
R
Whenever a player would gain life, flip a coin. If heads, that player loses that much life instead. If tails sacrifice [card] and that player gains that life as per usual.
Face it, it has to do something slightly out of red's pie to be good, or maybe filter on a body.
Actually, after seeing burning-tree shaman, rituals are along the lines of red. So you could do something like 2/1 add triple red to your pool when it comes into play. That'd be sweet.
It would be nice to see an Enchantment but it would need to be useful, an not just SB utility.
But I have something better. How about a Meddling Mage on a land that etb untapped, tapps for a colorless, and you can 1 tap to add any color to your mana pool. Thats some hate right there.
Oh... and lets make it a basic land Island just so we can search for it.
