"CAT'S HOOF, IRON CLAW
NEURO-SURGEONS SCREAM FOR MORE
AT PARANOIA'S POISON DOOR
21ST CENTURY SCHIZOID MAN."
I quote:"Nature's most raw beauty is the circle: perfect in its continuance, with no break between death and life."
Look, the strategy's already on the card. It's like, 'Come on, how hard can it be to use me, planeswalker?'
Sacrificing your own creatures for fun and profit. Madness! It'll have you screaming for more (and your opponents screaming at you) when creatures keep dying left, right and center. Beasts of the forest or mechanical beings: whatever the case, they will die to further the cause of the Golgari queen.
Overthrowing the Golgari guildmasters, making traitorous pacts and being ruthless in her quest for power, Savra is one mean elf.
This was my first-ever EDH deck. I'm still working on it, of course, but here are the decklists.
20/11
-Naturalize +Fleshbag Marauder
Never ran into any situations where a troublesome artifact stops me from playing. Most of the time it's a dead draw in my meta since all you can do is blow mana rocks up, and that's bad politically.
-Dimir House Guard +Barren Moor
With the omission of Damnation from the decklist, the house guard becomes tragically useless. Might throw it back in when I have more 4cc spells.
7/1/12
- Rise from the Grave + Green Sun's Zenith
- Bone Shredder + Grafted Exoskeleton
- Necrogenesis + Beseech the Queen
In an attempt to reduce the mana curve, I removed RftG to make way for the Zenith. I have cheaper reanimators in handy.
Bone Shredder hasn't really shone, and grafted exoskeleton makes even Nether Traitor a threat. Thinking of adding Shizo, Death's Warehouse for making even Savra a threat, haha. That land is still good for beaters though.
Added Beseech the Queen for tutor effect.
11/1/12
-Expedition Map + Genesis Wave
I do like having Urborg and Coffers, but fetching one up just makes people set up to remove it. I might throw it back in if I can't get out my sacrifice lands. I usually fetch them up using P.Titan, which is just one persistent mofo in this deck.
12/1/12
-Grafted Exoskeleton
+Avenger of Zendikar
The exoskeleton was cute and all, being a pseudo-sac outlet and a potential wincon, but it never happened.
The Avenger, on the other hand, did. 6 0/1 tokens became 6 15/16 tokens today. It was beautiful.
The wave is fun and all, but I'd rather keep my mana for sacrifice and recursion shenanigans. Besides when the wave becomes a wincon, it usually means that at that point it's just a 'win-more' effect and not that good. Early game it's a dead draw.
Duplicant is just 6-mana removal. I could use it in another deck, say Hanna, but in this deck it's probably outclassed by Shriekmaw and the Shredder.
25/1/12
- Phyrexian Reclamation
- Svogthos, the Restless Tomb
- Recollect
+ Verdant Force
+ Death Cloud
+ Smallpox
Working on the Stax/Tokens theme a bit more. Reanimator is good and all, but if I truly wanted to be dedicated Mono-B would be better. I'm thinking of having tokens swarm the board and cheating in creatures to finish the job.
I made a few daring cuts. While Recollect was redundant (despite the Savra art), Phyrexian Reclamation was cute, but not very good in the long run. Sure it had interesting interactions with cards like Yavimaya Elder but it wasn't really worth it in the long run compared to directly reanimating the creature. I may still put it back in in the end, these cuts were rather daring, if I do say so myself.
Svogthos was probably a bad cut, reducing the land count can never be good. Yet I never use it for anything other than adding (1) to my mana pool. The second ability is often irrelevant.
Death Cloud and Smallpox are good; still finding slots for Barter in Blood: Any ideas on what I can cut from the deck? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ideally,I would like to be able to cut two cards from the deck, so I could place in these cards instead:
1 Grim Backwoods (Budget sacrifice land, the ability would be more relevant than Svogthos in Savra.)
1 Barter in Blood
Death Cloud is stupid good with this deck: I usually end up sacrificing a bunch of tokens and getting rid of the lands I don't need when my hand is near empty, but it's never the same for the other guy (unless he ramped faster than me, of course.)
Aside from infinite goblin generation with Marsh Flitter, Marsh Flitter's built-in sacrifice ability seriously saved my behind today when my opponent got out an Iona with Das Boots attached and a Vorinclex. Marsh Flitter already on the field, of course. RTC, RTC.
Garruk has nice synergy with Primeval Titan, serving as a pseudo-Amulet of Vigor. Being able to have an Urborg and Coffers combo come into play untapped is always fun.
Now for the cuts. Avatar of Woe was cute, but there was hardly any need for me to use it, like, ever. Beseech the Queen was a nice , cheap tutor but it's out for now.
-P. titan
you were a good friend
11/12
added Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord and Jarad's Orders.
Gameplan:
1. Amass a sac-based lockdown. Preferably including either Bloodghast or Nether Traitor or Reassembling Skeleton (Self-recurring creatures are the best.) Best engines would include Attrition for double duty. Sheoldred helps out as well. Then hold out until your amass an army of creatures or just some big beaters, and beat face.
2. Reanimator. Usually after the opponent's field is empty after sac engines clear the board. Buried Alive will always fetch Genesis as one of its choices, and sac-engines+ETB ability creatures+ Sheoldred is another fun combo that helps. Prime targets for combo: Rune-scarred Demon and Terastodon. Otherwise cheating many creatures into play with an early Living Death is an interesting strategy. My favourite approach to this tactic: Burying alive the two Praetors in this deck. When that sticks for a few turns, I hardly lose.
3. Nim Deathmantle combo for infinite destruction of noncreature permanents you don't control. If blasting all opponent's lands, mana rocks, enchantments and artifacts don't give you any advantage, play another deck.
FFA: Be political, make few enemies, make explosive plays late-game. Make pacts with the Blue player, who will likely suffer from your mass sacrifice. Offer to reduce the stax when needed, if there is still a way to explode into a game-winning play. Otherwise hold on to combo pieces, drop when safe.
Alternate BUILD:
TOKENSTAX
IMPT: WILL CHANGE DECK TO THIS BUILD ONCE POSSIBLE.
Tentative getlist for Token/Stax build:
1 Awakening Zone[/CARDS] (in case I can't afford bitterblossom...)

For Iona - assumption naming black - Beast Within will do it. Terastodon will too and both those cards should be in there anyway. One I normally wouldn't suggest, but if you have a lot of problems with Iona, then Withering Boon is pretty funny. Other ways to deal with her are Oblivion Stone and Spine of Ish Sah, but I normally don't recommend those either except in certain decks.
Not sure what your budget is, but here we go. A lot of people don't like a large green creature count because the sac factor only nets you life, however I would go for g/b critters.
I only counted 30 lands, that's a large problem. I would run at a bare minimum 35 lands, depending on your ramp package. I only see cultivate, and reach with bop and sad robot. I would add a Yavimaya Granger as it ramps and has the option to sac next upkeep, same with Sakura-Tribe Elder, Primal Growth pulls double duty.
You need Gravepact it is quite literally the #1 card required for this deck. I would cut all the single target removal spells, a.k.a. the edicts and add things like Innocent Blood, and Barter in Blood as these can be/are damnations 2 and 3 with Savra/gravepact out.
IMO overrun is bad in this deck, you win by slow rolling attrition.
I would find room for Abyssal Gatekeeper, and Fleshbag Marauder you can make some crippling sacrificing chains with these 2 creatures. Personally Hell's Caretaker is a favorite of mine, trade my little dudes for bombs that died. A lot of people don't like him but Gleancrawler has always been outstanding for me. A lot of the Golgari creatures that have built in sacrifice abilities are useful.
I'm not a big fan of Overrun in EDH Savra decks, a deck like yours wins by controlling board, not by assembling a swarm of tokens. On that note Ashling the Extinguisher is pretty awful, maybe replace it with a token generator like Avenger of Zendikar.
I also play Weiss Schwarz, Chaos, Vanguard and Wixoss.
Weiss Schwarz Sets
Accel World, Angel Beats, Familiar of Zero, Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, Guilty Crown, Kill La Kill, Robotics;Notes, Sword Art Online.
Chaos Partners
Arpeggio of Blue Steel: Iona, Kirishima, Kongou.
Dangan Ronpa: Asahina, Togami.
Freezing: Vibration: Chiffon, Satelizer.
Vanguard Clans Favoured
Angel Feather, Dark Irregulars, Genesis, Neonecter, Pale Moon, Shadow Paladins, Tachikaze.
Edit 1:
-edicts
+1 forest
+1 swamp
-Strands of Night, Curse of the Cabal, Stitch together, Mortivore

I hope someone will respond, but what I realize now is that this deck suffers from a tragic lack of sac outlets. Any suggestions?

Needs Expedition Map. Since it can fetch either of the land sac outlets.
Alright, I'll find a slot for those. Any things I can cut out? I'm thinking of cutting out Spiritmonger despite its ability to evade many forms of opposition, amongst others.

For additional Sac outlets I would like to suggest Miren, the Moaning Well, it's good life gain that should be easy to put in your deck. Altar of Dementia is my personal favorite sac outlet as it off balances a good number of decks and doesn't cost anything to use. Attrition is fun destruction on a stick, and takes care of problem creatures like Iona, Shield of Emeria...I'm still trying to figure out how Terastodon takes care of Iona, it's a great card don't get me wrong, but in what world does it take care of Iona? Just noticed you had Attrition in under destruction, good stuff lol.
Last thing I'm going to suggest, for aditions, are some utility lands/ramp lands. Bojuka Bog gives grave hate in a land drop that isn't colorless, Volrath's Stronghold reanimates, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth fixes mana/colorless lands and kills with Cabal Coffers...Crypt of Agadeem is pretty good to. Speaking of lands, 30 is kind of low, I would at least run 36 if not 38.
Suggested Pulls:
I would look at cutting Doomed Necromancer and Phyrexian Reclamation, necromancer is really slow unless you have equipment to speed him up making him a 2 card Rise from the Grave. Phyrexian Reclamation is kind of outclassed by every other piece of reanimation you have, or that has been sugested, it's two and two life for a Raise Dead. As mentioned above Doomgape is costly for what he's doing, and slow to boot.
Nature's Claim isn't doing you much good here, and is outclassed by something as simple as Naturalize. Living Death really feels like it won't do you much good, you spend all this time killing everyone's creatures and give them back with this, I feel like it's usefulness is situational at best. Brawn is only giving you trample, I feel like it could be something so much better, with the general idea of your deck it should be pretty easy to have a clear path to attack or at least a token swarm to run over the blockers.
Golgari Signet, Worn Powerstone, and Thran Dynamo all get outclassed by greens ability to ramp, they're easier to destroy than lands lol. Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder is a little unreliable as a token generator, and Golgari Germination just feels underpowered. Necrogenesis has been in a few of my decks, and is always cut in one of those why did I do that fits lol, maybe it works for you though.
Hello ShizoidMan
I was playing a Savra deck some time ago, black and green has always been my favorite color to play..
Your current decklist is looking good, but it can still be improved I think.
If you really want to win attrition wars and stax-ing your opponent, I suggest to add more token producers (Especially those who are also a sac engine) like Skeletal Vampire, Marsh Flitter, Bitterblossom, etc. They have been working so good on my Savra deck
Creativity is investing, experimenting, breakthroughing, taking risk, making mistakes, and HAVING FUN! "Dream creates future." http://levelten.deviantart.com/
Your deck seems to be all over the place. Best I can tell you is to re-read post #3 and apply. Not trying to be mean, but I do know what I am talking about when it comes to Savra. Find room for Primal Command, and Profane Command, you will thank me for it later.
I am going with the general assumption that you are trying to play a Stax build. Everything needs to either A) Punish everyone else at the table, or B) Further your goals so you can punish the other players harder.
I would drop the Brawn and add a Genesis, another personal favorite of mine is Kuon, Ogre Ascendant easily flippable.

Will do! I guess I'll have to wait until I finish my job to acquistion those cards.

Some suggested pulls such as Necrogenesis and Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder: I kept them due to the local meta having several token strategies and graveyard-based combos (Sharuum, Sisay-Reveillark, etc). But they will probably make the cutlist once I get those cards.

Miren, the Moaning Well is definitely going in eventually. I am going to move Savra more towards a Group Punisher / Stax build, with more token outlets like Bitterblossom going in once I get the money from my job.
Avenger is fun combined with Grave Pact/ Butcher of Malakir or even, if I really wanted to, Urborg Justice, but for now I'm not getting Mr. Z until I clear up more slots. Same goes for skeletal vampire. But I can already see the glory the deck can achieve once its stax build is refined

I have to ask; how often ate you mana screwed? 30 lands is just waaaay too low as had been stated. Most decks (even with ramp) would run 37-38 so how often do you find this a problem?

I used a guide I found here when I just started: Start with 40 lands, then cut 1 for each mana-generator you have. Besides one of my primary aims is to get out Suika to fetch Urborg+Coffers or simply to ramp up from the start. I don't face a problem too much. I might miss a land drop occasionally though, but not often.
That said, I removed Golgari Germination in favour of a normal forest. An infinite mana combo is pointless without a card with X in its casting cost.

I like endrek personally, because even if the creature gets countered you still get the tokens, and you can always sac them down before casting another creature. I like the gogari germination too, but thats just me. Nothing beats getting creatures for free.

Hmmm - I think i've read that guide too and I thought it said one mana for every 2 mana-generators but i guess if you dont have issues then it aint a problem
Hmmm - I think i've read that guide too and I thought it said one mana for every 2 mana-generators but i guess if you dont have issues then it aint a problem
I played two games with it today: First game I lost to a Crovax, Ascendant Hero deck due to my low amount of life and his massive board advantage (7 6/6 tokens hurt a lot.) Second game I managed to get out a turn 3 Primeval Titan via Entomb + Animate Dead, and I built up a way to sac Reassembling Skeleton twice a turn by using Phyrexian Tower and High Market, combined with my Butcher and Savra herself. Urborg + Cabal Coffers was also a great choice. I love this deck so much more already.
However, I would love to up the pain levels.
I'm considering Miren, The Moaning Well for life-gain + sac outlet, and I'm wondering whether an infinite combo would do nicely. Here's what I have in mind:
1. With the addition of Su-Chi (optional) and Blasting Station, not only do I get a sac engine, equipped with Nim Deathmantle it's a one-hit kill for infinite damge.
2. With the addition of Puppeteer Clique I get another card to use in the Nim Deathmantle + Ashnod's Altar combo.
3. With the addition of Golgari Germination and Exsanguiate, I have a use for infinite mana. Exsanguiate turned out to be essential for life gain during that game where I stared down 7 6/6s : I had only 8 life, and 7 of that came from Primal Command.
Any opinions? Should I find a way to place in Blasting Station as an additional sac outlet, the Blasting Station combo, Puppeteer Clique or Germination + Exsanguiate combo? What should I cut for Miren? Any help would be appreciated.:D

I know that combined with Savra they make efficient removal, but are they really that necessary?
They've been really good to me in Savra, but my meta is pretty creature heavy with not a lot of combo. I think Shriekmaw is the best, but Shredder is decent. Self-sacrificing cards are great in this deck.
Contrary to what others have said, I really like Doomgape in this deck. Yeah, it's a mandatory sacrifice but it's a really good beatstick that gives you a sac outlet. I've found it to be really effective.
I'd cut Ambition's Cost or Void Maw for Miren. You need to up your land count and both of those cards looks expendable to me.

1 Miren, the Moaning Well
1 Sorin Markov
1 Hell's Caretaker
1 Smokestack

For Iona - assumption naming black - Beast Within will do it. Terastodon will too and both those cards should be in there anyway. One I normally wouldn't suggest, but if you have a lot of problems with Iona, then Withering Boon is pretty funny. Other ways to deal with her are Oblivion Stone and Spine of Ish Sah, but I normally don't recommend those either except in certain decks.
I'll leave cuts to others.

Enslave is kinda fun, how about Ritual of the Machine? I find Attrition useful. I would add a Plague Boiler, Diabolic Intent is Demonic #2. Find room for a Putrefy.
On a final note, there are a ton of Savra decks listed here, the front page has a link to most if not all of them. Hope some of these ideas help.
I'm curious you aren't running sweepers of your own, such as Decree of Pain or Damnation. Every black deck needs them in my option.
As for cuts:
Curse of the Cabal won't make you many friends and is by no means quick if you want to cast it at a good time.
Strands of the Night hurts a lot, you are better served with creatures (such as Coffin Queen) or lands like Volrath's Stronghold.
I'm not a big fan of Overrun in EDH Savra decks, a deck like yours wins by controlling board, not by assembling a swarm of tokens. On that note Ashling the Extinguisher is pretty awful, maybe replace it with a token generator like Avenger of Zendikar.

Avenger of Zendikar...nuff said.
Taking a look at your reanimation pack I would suggest Genesis and Coffin Queen, they're just nutz. Speaking of reanimation I see you don't run any wraths really, you should at least have Damnation, Decree of Pain, or Black Sun's Zenith.
I have to drop a few ramp spells that would just be amazing in your deck; Explosive Vegetation, Far Wanderings, Journey of Discovery, and Harrow all come to mind as simply amazing.
Last thing, I'm long winded don't you know, Polluted Mire, Tranquil Thicket, and Barren moor could all take a cut for basics or more useful non-basics.

Also I think you might consider adding Melira, Sylvok Outcast to combo out with Woodfall Primus or Puppeteer Clique. It also adds some win condition to your deck.
You might also consider these cards: Viscera Seer (good sac outlet), Braids (the black one), Miren, the Moaning Well (sac outlet, gain some life to recover after using Savra's ability), Exsanguinate (a finisher after getting infinite mana), Nath of the Gilt-Leaf (moar discard and token), Smokestack (stax!), Volrath's Stronghold (recursion), High Market (another sac outlet), Phyrexian Tower (sac outlet and mana) and Primeval Titan to get those lands!
That's all I can think now, maybe I'll add some suggestions later.. Happy building Savra!

Just some thoughts.
Will do! I guess I'll have to wait until I finish my job to acquistion those cards.
Genesis has been out-of-my-reach so far, but I will get him as soon as possible. Of course, any feedback is appreciated, so go nuts.

Some suggested pulls such as Necrogenesis and Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder: I kept them due to the local meta having several token strategies and graveyard-based combos (Sharuum, Sisay-Reveillark, etc). But they will probably make the cutlist once I get those cards.
Changelog: -Doomgape, + Expedition Map. I goldfished the deck with those proxies sans Skeletal Vampire, Avenger of Zendikar and Bitterblossom. Although I required Primeval Titan to fetch out the sac-lands, I found that it could hold its ground well even without Savra coming out, thanks to the first fetch being Urborg + Cabal Coffers , fueling a Wurmcoil Engine[/CARDS] + Nim Deathmantle + Ashnod's Altar infinite wurm combo next turn.

Cheers
