Thank you [thread=182339]DNC/Heroes of the Plane Studios!
[/thread]
This was my first EDH deck and has racked up many wins. The deck is almost completely foiled and the rest are altered except for a foreign wasteland and beta basalt monolith
Alters Nev Disk-Klug,Ambition's cost-Card Kitty,Fleshbag-Yawg,Tower-Nofingers,Powerstone-Card Kitty,Monolith-Ondal the Fool,Yawg Will-Card Kitty,Urborg-Nofingers,Sign in Blood-Dewil,Mind Twist-Demonium
Basically what this deck does is builds up massive amounts of mana while wiping the board over and over again. Next I play one of many game ending threats and win if they don't have a answer.
To tell you the truth it destroys almost any creature based strategy with ease and has very good weapons against control and combo.
The the large amount of tutors makes the deck very consistent and I usually have what I need when I need it. And the draw keeps the deck going and going.Once this deck gets rolling it's very hard to stop it.

Removed Sadistic Sacrament
Added Victim Of Night
There were plenty of times I drew sad-sac and I really needed a answer to something on the board instead. While kicking it is cute Victim of night adds another cheap spot removal option that can be transmuted for off shred memory.
1-26-12
Removed Blightsteel Colossus
Added Bloodgift Demon
At the end of the day Blighty is just a beater no matter how strong he is. Bloodgift adds more card draw/redundancy on a decent sized flying body.
Hello Grinning Demon! That's a card I was seriously considering in my Kagemaro deck. Worn Powerstone has always been worthwhile and useful acceleration, although I have considered Thran dynamo as well. One of my favorite plays with Powerstone is a fourth turn Sorin Markov or Steel Hellkite.
Don't get me started on glaciers. This card is indespensable in big mana black. It ensures a land drop every turn and makes those coffers and late game drain/pump effects that much more lethal. It just gets wacky with Rings of Brighthearth and/or Deserted Temple. I find it can be slow and a hindrance to some decks but when you're packing as many wraths as I am it more than makes up for it.
I also considered those options for art/ench hate but I haven't had problems with the current set up I'm running. I opted for Steel Hellkite because it's also a mana dump/finisher as well which is very useful in this deck. I ran karn in my Kagemaro deck for a while but took it out for other stuff.
Oh I forgot to mention terrain generator. Its actually really good acceleration if you have lots of card draw or just an opening hand full of lands. Although I am considering taking it out for buried ruin because there have been times it wasn't that great.
Not very cheap but Candelabra of Tawnos is a great card for this deck that works well with mana coublers, Cabal Coffers and Thawing Glaciers. I'm also a big fan of Vedalken Orrery in monoblack, it allows you to play out like a blue deck and makes all of your tutors completely broken. Lastly Insidious Dreams helps you set up combos and is just a generally powerful card. I run it in mine with no combos and it's still really good.
Terrain generator seemed like it was the weakest one of those cards. Buried ruin for getting back your mana doublers I assume? Looks ok.
I really like the idea of Vedalken Orrery, especially in a build like this. Was considering to add it to my own deck as well. Instant-speed sweeping and an EOT giant Maga to attack with the next turn just sound very sweet!
Donald, thanks for the suggestions. I have given Candelabra a lot of consideration and haven't tried it for 2 reasons. First it's pretty steep cashwise. Second unlike other doublers it doesn't do anything on it's own. I have been thinking about possibly removing some cards like rings of Brighthearth and basalt monolith because I don't use that combo much and both on their own aren't optimal. Also been considering taking out sadistic sacrament and Praetor's grasp for cards that either disrupt, further my plan or just effect board state. Vedalken Orrery is interesting but I guess my main feelings on it is once I get rolling and I'm repeatedly sweeping the board, making people discard and all the other stuff I don't need to cast things at instant speed for the most part. Of course thus is all theory without actually trying the cards which I will probably do just to see.
Grinning Demon, Yes thats my altered mind twist. Thank you. I'll try to find a picture. Its my favorite alter.I like buried ruin for either retrieving blown up artifacts or simply reusing Nevinyrral's Disk or Oblivion Stone because many times I use them and I have the least to lose. Maybe a mana doubler or something. One of the great things about this deck is peoole see the general and think "He needs a lot of mana before his general is even halfway relevant." so they turn their attention elsewhere. Also it has very little board pressence until it's usually too late. More often than not I'm the guy with just lands out and a hand full of nasty stuff so popping disk or o-stone don't usually hurt me that much.

I've tested Candelabra pretty extensively in both a monoblack and a monogreen big mana deck. Excluding it for cost reasons is perfectly acceptable, I got mine for $45 or else I wouldn't be running it either, but it's definitely worth a slot in an optimized list.
Vedalken Orrery might just be one of those cards you have to play with to see how powerful it is. It helps hide your board position until EOT which is nice for a couple reasons. The first is that it lowers your threat level because your opponents can't see what you were going to play during your main phase. Second it protects your board from sorcery speed removal for a turn which is more powerful than it probably sounds since you can drop mana doublers eot then bombs during your main phase next turn making your board more difficult to answer. This can act like a Time Walk effect if using it this way. It also allows your tutors, mass discard and sorcery speed removal to operate at instant speed which makes them much more powerful. Instead of just casting a sweeper main phase you can pass, wait to see if you're getting attacked and decide whether you want to cast your sweeper or not. This actually makes it less likely you will be attacked because you can threaten to Rout the person attacking you. Lastly it allows you to see what your other opponents do during their turns and react accordingly at EOT.
EDIT: Do you have pics posted of your list? You've got some gorgeous alters for it.
Have you considered Tawnos's Coffin? I adore it in my maga build. It has become the 2nd most hated card in my deck behind the cabal coffers.
Ouch. That sounds absolutely terrible to be on the other side of.. Doubling your damage for just 3 mana seems pretty efficient.
I still think Vedalken Orrery would suit your build very well too. Especially because you don't have that much on the board it makes it that much harder for your opponents to see if they can attack you or if you will instantly sweep the board. Playing Nev's disk EOT and popping it during your turn, then getting it back with Buried Ruin seems sweet ^^
Donald,I haven't scanned the deck yet but when I have access to a scanner I will. I do all my posts from an iPhone. Tawno's coffin sounds interesting. What do you think of coffin?
Honestly I don't think Coffin is very good. Maga was my commander for a long time and I found it was better to add things that support your big mana strategy and just ignore things that interact well with Maga. I wasn't casting Maga that often, less than half my games, because it's just easier to Exsanguinate everyone to death so having cards in there because they are good just because of him wasn't needed. Your best bet is to go all in on the big mana strategy and kill people with bombs. Maga should be plan B.
I still think you sould stick Bubbling Muck in here, plays really well with Yawgmoth's Will when you have pretty little to no board state
I'd take out the Blightsteel Colossus for it, but that's just me because I got hit with a Phthisis lol

It's indestructible!
Tawnos coffin sounded really cool to me but if your strategy is like Donald's I wouldn't bother with it either.
To tell you the truth I usually win with my bombs rather than the general, but I have in the past repeatedly drained with him for the win due to lack of options. Blightsteel seems to fallen out of favor recently but if I can afford him at the time I'm never unhappy to see him. Basically what it boils down to usually is if I have a board wipe and him I win if you can't exile or bounce him. And I have no shortage of board wipes.
