Playing EDH Archenemy, villain has no cards in hand, but a nigh-insurmountable board state, already picked off one of the three of us, the only person in any shape to do anything has nothing on the board except for a ton of mana and is in topdeck mode, all I have of note is a Metamorph copying a Blightsteel on the field and a few copy effects in hand. We are very, very dead in one turn. Big mana dude out of nowhere rips a Genesis Wave off the top of his deck and slams it down for ~30. And I copy it. Twice.

Was playing a 3 player on Cockatrice for the first time last night, myself using Rafiq vs Animar and Mikaeus. Played a turn 2 explore and had 3 lands, followed by turn 3 Stoneforge Mystic grabbing O-Naginata and turn 4 with just a land. Turn 5 I resolved a Primeval Titan, grabbed 2 lands and passed. Next turn, hit my land drop and put down Mirari's Wake followed by a Wargate for 5 grabbing Finest Hour. Swung with PT, twice. 4 More lands. and passed. Nobody had much going really at this point except some clerics that reduced/prevented damage and Animar had a few counters on em. My following turn, I pulled a Behemoth Sledge off the top. Tapped 3 land to bring out Mana Reflection and then brought out Rafiq and equipped all my equipment to Primeval titan. So I had a 12/9(plus 2 exalted triggers) double striking/lifelinking/land grabbing titan swinging for 28. They both scooped and I had almost 100 life. It was the best performace I've ever had with that deck before. Luckily nobody had any counters, otherwise it may not have gone so well. That's what I love about this format though, is getting to play huge spells and do ridiculous things!

Turn 6 18 mana, genesis wave for 15, primeval titan, doubling season, avenger of zendikar, lightning greaves, 3 forests, swiftfoot boots... After lands and primeval trigger 33 plants 10/11's, with 33 mana avalable next turn. No wraths, next turn kahmal fist of krosa, pump 4 times, now have 33 18/19 trampling plants!
Now that is how you use avenger!

Once in a game I was in, something like turn 5-6, a Progenitus player dropped Dream Halls, pitching something and casting Time Stretch while the rest of us were tapped out.
The best part was that Kresh was way behind on board development, so the 4 turns allowed him to catch up and establish himself as opposed to dominate the game completely by accident. It's nice to still have a game to play after 4 extra turns are taken.

Yes I mean the fun aspect. Regardless of whether Decree of Silence costs 8 or not, in a deck that "tutors ALOT" (sic) with presumably other countermagic to back up the combo...
Anything put in a deck INTENDED to keep everyone else from even playing the game is a douchebag move of the HIGHEST order
I don't agree. In our LGS that has tournaments weekly, people bring in Sharuum decks. So how is going infinite on your turn less douchery then setting up a combo that takes alot of building up to worst? I won 3 straight pods with Ghave (using Melira/Finks/Blasting Station). When I went off, it was so late in the game, that everyone was like finally...lol. This is a fun combo for me and my friends at the LGS appreciate obsure combos like this. If too many people get mad, I'll take the deck apart.
(This is my last post on the subject in this thread since it's way off topic; feel free to answer it here or start a new one)
Firstly, in a tournament it's expected to fight against tuned, controlly, combo decks (also known as 100 card Legacy).
Secondly, EDH is not a tournament friendly format, as intended by it's creators. It's supposed to be casual, swingy, and full of haymakers.
Thirdly, Sharuum (although obnoxious sometimes) and Melira/Persist are multi card comboes that end the game on the spot. Decree/Hex Parasite is simply "you don't cast spells any more" and is the EXACT reason why Erayo was banned as a general in the last round of bannings. Neither of them stop your opponents from playing spells, which that combo and tuned LD decks can do.
If you enjoy playing, and more importantly playing against such decks, then good on you. You are not, however, playing in what I believe to be the spirit of the format, and I know I'm not alone in that opinion.
I also have a semi-fine tuned Sharuum as well, but I only combo when I ABSOLUTELY need to (such as facing lethal damage, other players going off, etc.). Most of the time I just play stuff and beat face, lol.

In my slowly winding up sharuum deck I finally had my first big combo out that quickly won me the game.
Do note my sharuum deck isn't your normal jerking off "lololol I infinite combo turn 10 and auto win" but instead "oh god I'm dropping sphinx left right and swideways turn 4-5"
To put it in perspective, I'm running:
Grand Arbiter Augustin IV
Heartless Summoning
Master Transmuter
Dragon Arch
Urza's Incubator
And so on and so forth. Anyways, essentially I pulled off a perfect game turn 3
Turn 1: Sol Ring
Turn 2: Master Transmuter
turn 3: Bounce Transmuter to hand to drop Sphinx of the Steel Wind, then pay 3 mana and 2 life to drop a Phyrexian Metamorph as a copy of Steel Wind. Then drop a dual bounce land and pass the turn.
Because you know what's scarier than a Sphinx of the Steel Wind Turn 3? Two of them.
That's the great thing about EDH, each pod of players have different views. Our pod of players tend to like the obsure combos (which I guess is great for me). We had a guy that played Ghost Council deck but played all the crazy BW Enchantments (Nether Void/Humility/Moat/Ghostly Prison/etc). It was fun to try and figure out how to get out of the wall of hate.
Hex Silence is not an end all combo. Unless I have Seedborn Muse, players can attempt to cast enough spells for me not to be able to remove all the counters. I run 0 life gain in the deck, so the PM(B) on Hex could easily eat my life away.
Again, there is ZERO difference in a prison deck that locks down the game on T10 then a combo deck (Sharuum/Melira Combo/Hermit Combo) that consistently wins on T7. One just results in the game being over on T7.
Last night playing Wydwen vs Riku vs Nin I had a pretty crazy play. Riku had 2 titans out and was mass land ramping, had appox 40 on the board and just made 25 14/15 plant tokens. I had trepanation blade on my board eot for Riku I flash in Wydwen and equip the blade to her and attack on my turn. He has 44 cards in library and no lands, esentially milled his deck to 0 and made Wydwen a 47/47 which he was able to block but, he couldnt make a play before his draw phase.
On Turn 8, I cast Opalescence in order to win the game by virtual LD. My Kaalia opponent decides to Path to Exile Mirari's Wake leaving me with no lands as well! Horde of Notions Opponent still had Sol RIng and bunch of other 4 drops permanents. My 4th opponent had Propaganda and Crescendo of War. Kaalia guy scooped after pathing. So eventually Crescendo got big enough and he had more enchantment/creatures than I to kill the rest of us.
Riku's ability will only trigger once (when the original Kraken enters the battlefield) - he then gets one opportunity to pay UG to make one and only one copy

Tell him he was cheatin'
I was about to say the same thing, but I figured he probably kicked and copied a Rite of Replication, or something.
(I wonder, if you copy a Deep-Sea Kraken that's come off of suspend, do the copies also have haste?)
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.

I don't think so cause Haste is granted when it comes off the suspend zone. Since the tokens are created, they do not get "unsuspended", so they do not get haste.
Sure there are probably "better" things you can do with infinite mana and the ability to draw your whole deck, but what is more fun than attacking with a giant octopus with a sword in each tentacle?!
Short Answer: Yes, of course it is.
Longer Answer: (and I'm requoting myself here....)
Don't matter if it's CounterTop, Decree/Parasite, Donate/Celestial Dawn, or Mass and Repeated LD.
EDH is about PLAYING BIG SPELLS. The format you're looking for is called Legacy...

Turn 3 explosive vegetation, Turn 4 Vernal Bloom, Turn 5 Mana Reflection, 6 forests.

Cool story bro
Hey, it's funny when it happens.
Once in a game I was in, something like turn 5-6, a Progenitus player dropped Dream Halls, pitching something and casting Time Stretch while the rest of us were tapped out.
He wasn't expecting the free Wild Ricochet response from my friend's Kresh, the Bloodbraided. The Halls swing both ways

First turn, Serra Ascendant.
Second turn, attack a player for 6/6 flying, lifelink.
Third turn, attack same player for 6/6 flying, lifelink, than Fling for another 6 damage.
I knocked two guys out, but the third guy knocked me out to win.
