Hey ive got a question for you guys, ive checked the official banned list and could not find anything saying sol ring or mana vault are banned, however i keep seeing people reference a 1v1 banned list but cant find it. Can someone direct me to it and is it "official"? I ask because i play sharumm and i have quite a few fun things in it
the one vs. one banned list that many people on this forum are referring too is going to be this one. However there is also the French EDH Banned List, which is basically the same list barring a few minor differences that aren't even really worth mentioning.
However, neither of these lists are endorsed by the people over at www.dragonhighlander.net who maintain the so called "official" banned list.

"As the size of an explosion increases, the number of social situations it is incapable of solving approaches zero." -- Varsuvius, Order of the Stick
Do abilities that require certain mana activations by opponents retain their designation even if the opponent cannot pay that type of mana?
For example, if I try to counter an artifact activation with Ayesha Tanaka, does the owner of the activation need to pay W even if his/her general does not include W? I would imagine so, but I am a little unsure.
Thanks.

He needs to pay W, which he can't. Even if he controls a Darksteel Ingot, if he taps it for white mana, he gets colorless. So it's more powerful against nonwhite decks

this is true unless of course he is in control of a Mycosynth Lattice in which case it really doesn't matter what color the mana would normally be.

True, but you can't expect me to name all cornercases
I don't see how that is a corner case... its really the only scenerio in current Magic the Gathering Rules (aside from the white card that does the same thing, but that doesn't really matter) that really has any effect in this situation.

But he asked if he could pay W in a nonwhite EDH deck and the answer to that is: NO. If he asked if he could play his General any time he could play an instant, would your answer be "No" or "Of course, if you have a Vedalken Orrery on the battlefield"?
The answer is just plain NO. And that there happens to be a card that changes isn't really relevant IMO.
We all know that if a monogreen general gets the card, if it would produce blue mana, it produces colourless mana instead. The question is, can it be played in a deck with a monogreen general (e.g Azusa, Lost but Seeking)?
No, because there are no blue symbols in Azusa's converted mana cost. You can steal different-colored mana producing artifacts from other people during the game, but you can't run them in your deck to begin with if they have color symbols that don't match up with your general.

This is tricky. Technically you can only run cards that don't have a mana symbol on them that isn't in your generals cost. But the oracle text actually has the blue mana symbol. I would say no, and use the oracle text otherwise we have cards like Soulburn that can be legal or illegal in a deck based on which printing of it you run.

Halfdane Sek'Kuar
Please remember to autocard, just do [ card ] CARD NAME [ / card ] and for decks you can cover the whole thing in one deck tag like this: [ deck ] All of the cards in the deck [ / deck ]

It would have to go in to the graveyard. Returning it to the command zone is a replacement rather than triggered ability (its also optional, you don't have to return your general to the command zone when it dies).

On the 1v1 ban list, yes, because Crucible of Worlds is banned.
Back to the command zone.

Wrong. The Oracle text clearly has blue mana symbols on it.
EDIT: Sarnathed...
Heh, fair enough
If Child of Alara is my general, how would its planar cleansing effect trigger/work?
If you suggest a card to add to a deck, suggest one to take out as well.
