Hi i recently read and article about how many play groups get overloaded with cubes that are too similar my play group was one of these with three cubes that played out a lot alike I noticed the article didn't offer a solution similar to the one I went with, so here it is, I build a lower power cube that uses really unusual cards and focuses on synergy more than most cubes do in short most cubes are "spike cubes" this ones a "johnny cube" please feel free to discuss the cube as it is listed in its entirety below. All in all this cube is really well liked and some players even prefer it over the other cubes
*this section is also incomplete I want to add the 3 color Alara lands and the shadowmore/eventide filter cycle

There is one copy of "Crowd Chants 'Goldberg'" from the WCW Nitro PCG if you first pick this card you get to go first in all your matches
edit: please, i spent hours posting this can someone post something, do you like this cube? do you hate it? what cards do you think are fun to play with? what are some fun additions I should make? what should be taken out? i kinda don't even mind flames at this point i just want some responses
Brightflame seems like its really expensive for what it does.
Knight of the Holy Nimbus seems like a good idea but its more of a pain for the player who casts it than anyone else. I recently replaced it with Knights of Meadowgrain and instantly noticed an improvement.
Why Sunder, but no Armageddon? I don't see one being particularly more "fun" than the other...
it is way more fun, i think alot of people are missing that this cube is highly about card interactions, and comboing out, sunder works well with discard outlets and can be cast at instant speed, it can also pump maro, and im sure has other such applications im not seeing in addition to its armageddon like effect
as for the long list of cards i dont have time for that right now, but real quick i did notice that both underworld dreams and teferis puzzle box were on it along with staying power which is one of the most beloved cards in my cube even though its never been played
BBB is really hard to get and unlike Necropotence, Underworld Dreams doesn't win you the game but only pings your opponent by one every turn, since there aren't any draw 7 effects in your cube. Even if you get the Underworld Dreams + Puzzle Box combo going this isn't the instant kill, and you didn't influence the board the slightest for 2 full turns. Teferi's Puzzle Box has been mentioned because (if you don't have the Dreams) it is 4 mana for a symmetrical effect that your opponent gets to use first.
If a card is never played, there is no reason to keep it in your cube. That is like replacing a card in your deck with a bad one, only because it has a nice picture. Staying Power has a symmetric effect that is hard to keep track of when the game lasts longer.
well staying power is symetrical but can be way better for you if you have something like primal forcemage or any number of other things, also i like the box i have sided it in to disrupt storm decks and well weve started an inside joke about it so it has to stay in i can agree with all of your points on underworld dreams, but for now as mono is very common and it seems like it could be alot of fun its an interesting and unique effect even if its bad, interesting is more important here, a card like day of the dragons for example doesnt get played often but the fun that person has on those rare occasions makes it well worth it
i see your point maybe ill try to get me hands on some tutors, that black one where you discard a bunch of cards is fun, but those god to the top, just trying to think what might be good here i guess investing in demonic and that blue one that looks for instants and sorceries is probably good
but thats why i sided the box in, in order for storm to work here they need to build up pieces over time in their hand so the box was good disruption there, but i do think that deck needs more fuel, if you dont get grinning ingus its hard to go off

Cube and EDH are pretty much the best Magic formats in the world. If you aren't playing them, you should be.
