3-2 Trade bots are only good if they haven't been too picked over, or people don't know how to limit the bot to the crap in your collection. I don't trade with those anymore.
I don't mind the 20-1 tix type bots. I get a lot of commons/uncommons from them. Time you get to the rares it's usually 10-1 and most of the smart bot chains have them for 0.08-0.10 and how many crap rares do you usually need.

Same thing with the common and uncommon bots. I've managed to get a few cards worth more then the usual junk cards. Its rare but, does happen. Need enough of them for a deck (haven't found any worth using yet) or to get enough to trade for a tix.
Thanks, that link was very helpful in getting me the best deal on limited bombs I have yet to draft for my jank extras as I try to complete my first redemption.
Also, thanks for bumping this thread. Very helpful.
This baby helped me avoid overspending and finding some sick deals on certain cards I really REALLY wanted. Also kept me from spending hours going from bot to bot looking for one card. Not to mention telling me who's buying for the right prices as well.[/quote]
Yes, barring availability issues for some high demand cards, you'll rarely find things cheaper than on the mtgolibrary bot system. Snagged a playset of Doubling Season for 1 ticket total, amazingly.
I will warn that the pricewiki only seems to be updated periodically throughout the day, so some of the best deals listed will be gone before you stop by (Doubling Season was listed for ~4 hours after I bought the only set). Other deals are on bots that haven't been on in months.
As far as reliable price differences go, MTGOlibrary tends to sell at 20-25% less than most other vendors. This amount explodes with higher value standard legal commons and uncommons. For example, Sign in Blood at .01 vs .08 at MarlonMTGO and MTGOTraders.
I'd suggest compiling a large list of cards before you start shopping for cheap ones, though. Saving .2 tickets on a .6 ticket purchase is pointless if you fill the rest up with junk you don't ever intend to use.
One question to Wilmheath since he's here though - why is it that your prices are so similar to Cardhoarder and MarlonBots? Is there some secret price-fixing going on? Or do you guys just use the same engine for calculating prices? Just seems a bit sinister that you guys all seem to have the same prices all the time...
I would agree it seems like they might be plotting against us or something but, I'm assuming they don't really communicate with each other either. Competing normally helps lower prices but, that would kind of be a bad idea since the prices on alot of things aren't that high in the first place. The other 2 could be leeching off of MTGOTraders too.
There is a lot of leaching going on. Wilmheath actually had to block the IP addresses of the MTGOlibrary chain for using a spider to read his price sheets. He said the bot was using abormal amounts of bandwidth.
The other factor is buy prices. If one of those chains were to lower thier sell prices it might be below the other chains buy prices and one would just buy out the other.
Redeemers have a large part of Standard prices on MTGO. Most people underestimate this factor, but a lot of what you see as a price point is based on what redeemers will pay. The chains have to charge higher to keep cards in the system.

For rares, the Supernovabots usually have the cheapest prices. Such a simple, clean format - all you need is Ctrl+F. Very easy to sell to too, and what you see is what you get. This is a data miner's dream come true.
For commons and uncommons, I normally go to JB MTGO, a lesser known but very cheap card store, usually cheaper than the more established ones.
I also check the MTGO Library just before I buy from either one of those above (they tend to get about 80% of my custom) in case there are any cheap deals floating around. They're far and in between however, and it's annoying having to weed through all these bots that were once active but now are no longer available.
MTGO Traders is also great for price checking, but they usually end up being the upper bound on prices. I support them mostly because they give back so much to the PRE community, but I guess their fame also means that they can afford to charge a bit more, which is fair enough. One question to Wilmheath since he's here though - why is it that your prices are so similar to Cardhoarder and MarlonBots? Is there some secret price-fixing going on? We all use the same bot software but you will notice some variance in price but we all work together to keep prices up to date. I agree it's not ideal but due to the way the buybots work etc it's the best solution we have found to work for us for the time being. We do spend hours a day going through which cards are selling and not and raising/lowering them based on that. We also use the classifieds to change our prices to make sure that they are highly competitive.
As for everyone else you see with my prices it's because they rip them using scripts. MTGOLib is one of the ones that does this and they even resell my prices to all of their bots.
I appreciate the question and I have nothing to hide.

I just bought 2 Jace, the Mind Sculptors off the MTGOTrader bots. They ask you to trade 11 tickets first, because the price of it is over 75, which means you have to make 2 trades for it. I did it an my trades went off without a hitch. If you're looking for a trustworthy bot, MTGOTraders is a good bot to buy from.
I have no Affiliation with them or anything. I decided to buy from them after going onto their website, and I clicked on a link to PureMTGO and I watched some videos by Agur (Jacob, Antonentz) and talked to him for a bit.
Good guys all around.
My MTGO name is SnakeDoctor if anybody wants to play
the supernova chain is the best for rares IMO well as far as bots go atleast and theres like five or six so just search supernova and look for the actual posting you'll find alot of bots will try to use the name or say they compare to other bots when they really dont...
Hey guys one more thing - if you are buying more than $5 worth of cards, MTGO traders offers an 8% discount if you buy directly from their site using paypal. If I'm buying bigger dollar cards, or trying to buy cards for a new deck, I will often go that route as that 8% really adds up in a hurry. I also keep that in mind when looking at other bot prices.
And if you REALLY are good at spending cash, you can become one of their preferred customers which nets you even more % off each purchase.
Another resource I use is the Supernovabots buy/sell list. This is an incredible tool - mostly because it lists the buy prices - something you can't find easily. This chain is another one you'll want to keep on your buddy list as they frequently have great deals on rares.
For recent sets the sharpbot chain is pretty good. I compare prices between them and the supernova bots and then I do a quick check in the classifieds to see if I can find anything cheaper. Supernova only has rares though, no commons or uncommons. For recent uncommons and commons I just go straight to sharpbot. Older commons and uncommons I go to mtgotraders because they always have everything and I don't want a bunch of credit floating around at 8 different bots. If you don't mind spending actual cash mtgotraders gives 8% off of paypal orders. This usually makes them the cheapest option for expensive in-demand cards.
Great point - lots of extra credits floating around in multiple bots is a bad thing. You WILL get burned if you do this eventually. Heck I have one bot now that I'm already sweating as it has not been on in 2 days and it has .4 tix worth of credit from me on it. .4 is not gonna kill me mind you, but hey every bit counts. That's why it's good to have a small group of stable bots to do business with (many of the ones already mentioned in this thread qualify). If you go outside that group, make sure you leave nothing behind credit wise.
I've played MTGO on and off for a long time and I've used MTGOTraders most of the time. I've tried the other bots/sites, but it always seems to be the same story, not all the cards I need when I need them...lol. I can almost always count on MTGOTraders to fill up a new deck idea. I even qualified for the vip pricing...lol. I love they have give aways each month, though I've never won one (hint hint). I usually don't have a problem with their vendor when I have questions. Even had a few incidents happen in the past and they made up for it by throwing in freebies and such. Great business! I only have one complaint. 100 bucks for a Force of Will, really? lol...j/k.
I'm always open for trading/playtesting, look me up for filler stuff, lots of older stuff (I really don't play Jace...i mean Standard) Josthoalemar1322
you get a bigger discount. i qual'd like over a year ago, maybe spending x amount, not sure, but i remember i bought like 150 in cards and the guy told me for now on use a certain code and i get a bigger discount, not much, but hey, every little bit helps feed my addiction...lol
Mods: Didn't mean to necro the thread, i googled mtgo bots and this thread came up, should have checked the date of the last post, i apologize.
Well good thing you kept a hold of that promo code over all this time. Maybe wilmheath could shed more light on this. Would be nice knowing if you spend X amount you earn that.
I don't think you have to worry. This thread barely makes it off the first page before getting bumped again.
The vip coupon code is for customers that have an average order amount over $75. This helps us by saving on paypal fees since we aren't getting pinged on those $5 payments. There is one last coupon that is for people with an average of $150 or more but not many people get that one as you can imagine. The margins on MTGO are tiny tiny so even an extra 2%-3% off is very hard for us to do and still make profit.
Having said that I made a coupon for you mtgsally users that is inbetween the vip and normal coupon and the code is mtgsallypaypal and it's 9% off your order when using paypal. Enjoy!

Ok thanks
There are at least two. MTGOtrader and freecardbot I think.
Just search "free" and all the free bots will come up.
Also, I used the MTGOtrader one today so it's been working recently.
The ones I listed in the first post beside MTGOTraders are on an off so you have to pay attention to them as they might be on a few days a month.
