Is it possible that prices will go down after all the high end tournaments? Tarmogoyf is SLOWLY dropping. (Like a hundred to 70, woot, so affordable)
One suggestion. Places like findmagiccards.com and cardshark.com have a bunch of different sellers in one site. They rank them in order of cost. Perhaps this might be a way of determining averages. Cardshark even calculates the average for you.
GAAAH! Photoshop, School, WoW and MTG makes managing this thread hard work! Again, if someone can help me out with figuring out new prices I'd gladly throw you MAJOR props and something, not sure what
man, i love this idea, ive always liked knowing what decks actually cost to play. Though i think many of the prices are a little bit out dated though. I cannot find a tarmogoyf going for under 75 now adays lol. It'd be cool if you keep updating the prices very few months...if thats even possible. I was blown away the price of an ANT deck was not expecting that.
The only bad thing about this is realizing...that making good legacy decks on a whim is not someting one could do whenever they want isn't possible. Probably one of the best investments is making a zoo deck since it'll never go away.

If you see someone playing a control deck, the following strategy is considered acceptable: 1) Slowly reach upward 2) Grab your opponent firmly by the throat 3) Squeeze 4) ???? 5) Profit...and a fountain of red Kool Aid!!!
UPDATE! Ok, made a few changes:
-Added a few (like 3 xD) updated lists
-Edited out the Expensive Cards near the Price of the deck (OH NO! Check the next one)
-Put a Top 10 List for expensive cards in the format (Tarmo and Dual Lands take the lead..)
Some told me that Force of Wills are now $50. I looked it up to confirm and there it was, at $50.
All these 5ks and Legacy GP are casing staples to double in price.
I'm glad that the format is healthy and all but it's daunting when I, as a Legacy newb, see FoW literally double in price to $50 currently from $25 in January.
I'm thinking of waiting for a bit and seeing if they come down a notch. Should I get them now at $50?

Force of Will is a format staple and always will be, as for me, I usually just buy the cards, if they drop in price, well, too bad but at least I have them, if they go up, lucky me.
i remember some black guy once called me called me cracker i didnt know what he was meaning. but them i found out that it is a Racially motivated term for white people, based on the fact that we're the same color as Saltines.
Duals are 32-80ish...the least used colors are not 50 bucks. Even SCG knows this.
And as a Landstill Player, the deck has jumped % in value. You have it in the sub-600 department but it's definitely flirting with 700 with Jace 2.0, duals jumping in price, and standstill itself selling for 8 a piece. Other values have shot up as well. Vindicate is no longer used. If you need an updated list, check out the most recent posts in the Landstill Thread.
EDIT: And thanks for having a thread like this -- it's very helpful

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.
EDH/Commander is a social format, right? So why don't people use their social skills to discuss what they like and don't like, instead of adopting a list with 60+ banned cards?
Solidarity isn't all that viable at the moment and it takes a lot of skill to play properly; that said, it's an amazingly fun deck. This is the list I play, it may not be optimal, but there is decent variation among Solidarity lists.
$363.48 - 4 Flooded Strand($17.99), 2 Scalding Tarn($17.99), 4 FoW($24.99), 4 Reset($17.49) are the main costs, the price includes every card in the list below.
First, Scalding Tarn is $14 and Misty Rainforest $12. The deck doesn't need any splash, so better these than the Onslaught ones (But Fow has increased it's price)
Second, I think that may be useful to price a Spring Tide since it's cheaper than Solidarity. (I could talk about Foil replacing FoW as a budget choice, but I will not )
Quoted from The Source:
This deck uses the basic concepts of Solidarity with one rather large difference: The deck is not instant speed. Although this means that the deck loses the amazing untapping power of Reset, it gains a far greater card pool, which in turn supplies the deck with more consistency, speed, and resiliency (A full comparison with Solidarity will be made later). The deck now goldfishes an amazingly consistent turn 3-4 win.
I believe WoTC's new policy is to make sure that every color can enjoy the exciting gameplay mechanic of making undercosted dudes and then turning them sideways. Clearly the future of magic.

Hey! Since this thread could help new players to get into the format, this could be nice:
First, Scalding Tarn is $14 and Misty Rainforest $12. The deck doesn't need any splash, so better these than the Onslaught ones (But Fow has increased it's price)
Well, at the time those were the cheapest fetchlands and those were the prices, so those were what I used.
XenoNinja, do you have any more decks that need updating? I can help you out with pricing. Also, it may be useful to try to include again the individual expensive($5+) cards and their pricing so we can make updating easier as prices change.

Wow. What's with all the price increases ? Entomb is now $50. Tabernacle is around $275-$300. LED is $50. Sinkhole is $42. FoW is $50. Underground Sea is $90 and counting etc..I've never seen prices increase this fast before and I've been playing for about 14 years. It's ridiculous.
Canadian Thresh likes Scalding Tarn and Misty Rainforest. Misty Rainforest in particular is very good because it pairs blue with the best creature in Tarmagoyf.

Which has nothing to do with the point that Misty Rainforest is a 6-8$ card, that some other posters in the this thread claim are worth 12-14. Same with Scalding Tarn.

Point me to a $6 Misty Rainforest/Scalding Tarn. Prices online range from $10 to $14 for MR and ST.
Why isn't Tabernacle listed at #1??? It's BY FAR the most expensive legacy card.
Also, when did 7-8$ fetches suddenly double in price over night? No way are Scalding Tarn and Misty Rainforest worth 12-14.
Legacy cards in general have doubled in price since January. Check www.blacklotusproject.com for graphs on card prices and see for yourself. Dual lands and every viable Legacy card has doubled if not tripled in price. I don't know why it happened, I just hope that they won't double again in the next month or it'll be a short stay for me in Legacy.

This lovely site called Ebay. I'm well aware that legacy cards have double and tripled in price since January, Zendikar fetches are not a part of that large influx though.

TOTALLY didnt know Tabernacle was $200?! WHO PAYS FOR THAT! WHO!
I'll edit the list now that I know Tabernacle's price, and @Gravemind: Yes, The lists without the (^) or (v) on them need price updates. The help would be greatly appreciated. I guess I could throw back the list of expensive cards in the list, if you think it'll help. I'd think that the price guide might...DETER people from playing Legacy rather than get people to play. On the Other hand.... I have an idea as well.
How about I throw in a description on how to PLAY the deck, as well as the priceguide? It'd be the ULTIMATE starter for any Legacy Noob! It'd take a little bit of time, and I would have a few flames of "No no no, that's not how that works!" but I think that I might be able to get a...START on stuff at least.
Also - I'll add the Bant Survival as soon as I/someone else can price it, seeing as I dont have it in my lists :L
Also, I still need to price Ravager/Vial Affinity don't I? This guide is going to take forever, but once it's up and running it will take very little maintenance (mostly price changes every few months or as needed, maybe a new deck every now and then.) Good thing Legacy doesn't update all the time, like Standard does.
LONG POST WAS LONG, But I've got a LOT of work to do. Again, Gravemind - your help would be GREATLY Appreciated PM me the updated lists that you have, or post them on here and I'll add them/credit you for it

If people are deterred by the price, they wouldn't be playing anyway. It's better to be up front and show them the real cost. Also, it makes it much easier for them to see where their costs will be and what other decks will be available to them once they obtain the expensive cards.
As far as descriptions of decks, it can work, but it should be kept short, like a few sentences total for each deck. Or even better could be to link them to the thread on the deck on MTGS.

The interesting thing about legacy though is it can be cheaper in the long run over Standard. With standard you have to buy a whole new set of cards every year. Since Legacy is eternal, once you buy the staples (i.e. Duals, FoW, Goyf, Fetches, vial, whatever) you are pretty well set to make a few good decks that will last for years to come with only a few changes.
In example: Threshold, the legacy staple for many years, ran the same basic stuff. Tarmogoyf hit and Thresh gained an awesome replacement for Werebear, but the basic structure was unchanged.
Now a days there are a lot of thresh variants ranging from Progenitus Bant to Canadian thresh. FOR THE MOST PART, they all run the same basic card structure, at least as far as the expensive doosies go. Fow, Goyf, Duals. Once you have the cards, you are set for a few years worth of deck building.
Now if only I can put my money where my mouth is and actually get my hands on a few more duals and that pesky goyf.
I think a short description would be helpful, even just a sentence about the colors and the style. (I.E. Death and taxes = White weenie control)
$639.89 on MOTL for the >$1 cards. The rest are all under $1, so a total of about $645 if you buy at eBay average.
