Has anyone tried Ethersworn Canonist against Dragonstompy? It seems if I could play her second turn that she would be phenomenal. She would practically soak up removal and cost stompy a turn, giving me a turn to win the game.
Also, why is Tarmogoyf preferred over Master in the extended version of this deck? Is it because Tarmogoyf is replacing Disciple of the Vault and Chromatic Star replaces Aether Vial for mana problems?
Adding the combo is an interesting idea. However, don't waste too many maindeck slots to it. It may slow the deck and make it worse. If you want it MD, I would take out the tutors and and a land for 4 Ornithopter just to keep as much speed as possible. But my suggestion is if you want the surprise factor put in the combo in the sideboard. That way you have a full speed and power affinity deck with the combo in the side if you need it without sacrificing MD consistency.
I find this really interesting;) I guess it will definitely shock your opponents game 2. I guess this is more of a fun deck than competitive. I should still give you props for the idea
That list looks interesting. I definitely like the combo more in the board than MD. Just two things. First, I would try to fit more Crypt and Needle in the board than relying on one even with tutor. Even if just one more of each would be beneficial. Second, I would consider dropping the Shrapnel Blasts for Arcbound Workers. Having both fling and blast seem repetitive. Plus worker speeds the deck up and helps Ravagers get bigger faster.
I use it so I don't get shafted by Pernicious Deed or shattering spree. I actually don't play disciple against certain decks until they are at 6 life, incase to reset me, I have back ups of a few creatures. Many people play the all in approach. I generally keep 30 percent of my hand in my hand, where it belongs to prepare for the sideboard hate. Glimmervoid gets toasted when they do resets on all my permanents.
i'm building this deck just for fun/friends to play. i've only got 3 sets of vials and their all in other decks.
so i'm looking for advise, but NO VIALS.
i want to play with shrapnal blasts, and possibly theorapies and a single Atog, so i made a few cuts. were they the right cuts? please let me know if this seems decent...
1.) Anyone who thinks cancel is viable should be shot. in the face. with a hammer.
2.) You misunderstand, what I was suggesting was the total exclusion of Spellstutter Sprite, because it just isnt that good anymore.
3.) Understand, Dredge is not really a Magic: The Gathering deck. When a card is playable in it, it doesn't mean it's a tournament playable card. It means it's playable in whatever crazy fantasy world that Dredge operates in.
I have played Shatterstorm. In a Ravager Affinity deck. Repeat: I played Shatterstorm in a Ravager Affinity that I ran in a tournament. I won 2 games and lost 3 in that tournament. So it's not that bad. I did not draw any during the tournament, though.
Did you try to combo off of Disciple with Shatterstorm? Other than that I cant really think of any reason why you would run it at all.

Can't you just put the Vials in this deck when playing this deck and to the other decks when playing them?
i could, but i hate the hassle. and i'm usualy letting other people play my decks, so it's not possible most of the time. i just bought another set of wastelands becuse of this.
also, i have the shrapnal blasts and glimervoids that i'd like to use.
edit,
my non-vial list is on the previous page and would like some constructive critisism on it, as i'm not familure with actualy playing this deck (only against it). i was mainly concerned with lowering the numbers on certian cards to fit others in. like atog, has anyone played that version in extended? is it worth it here in the red version? does anyone have experiance with therapy? i was thinking it was needed w/o haveing the vials. any comments?

I've tried Therapy in the past. Personally, I like making the deck as fast and consistent as possible without adding it extra stuff. Especially with red when you really want speed. Here is what I recommend:
That's why many people say to take out the red splash and play with vials. But without vials, Fling-Atog Affinity can still be good and fun to play. But taking out Workers and Enforcers isn't a good idea as those are key parts to any Affinity deck. Besides, you don't have to sacrifice everything to Atog and walk right into a counter. Remember a Worker, Ornithopter, or Disciple with platting can be flung for lots of damage as well.
Other doesn't do anything except for putting 2 counters to Ravager instead of one, and the other is slow. Ravager Affinity is fast and needs neither.
Enforcer is far from slow my friend. Its pretty easy to get him out on turn 2, in which case he's bigger than a turn 2 goyf. Its also very possible to get an enforcer out on turn one with springleaf drum. Frankly, I don't think you know what you're talking about.

i'd have to agree with others about not wanting to drop them. may i ask for a sample decklist with out them, that you claim to be faster?

so would you possibly recomend sideboarding therapy to get rid of swords?
also, why play ancient den over glimervoid or nexus?
Ya, Therapy is a great thing to have in your board.
Why Ancient Den? Because Den is an artifact. Nexus and Void are not. Having artifact lands in play are crucial to making sure you both play things quickly and to make sure you have as many artifacts as possible for Master of Etherium, Cranial Platting, Ravager, and Atog. In the changes, I dropped 1 Void for Drum so you still have the same amount of any color mana sources but 1 more artifact. Then I dropped Nexus for Den to add more artifact lands. I feel that Nexus is a little slow for this decks gameplan.
First off, how often do you win turn three? This is not something that happens with great consistency. Not to mention the fact you already brought up that if they have counter or creature removal you are in trouble. I would rather have consistent beats rather than be reliant on a fragile combo. The red splash is supposed to provide an extra source of damage to give it a little more speed and power from time to time, not to be the core focus of the deck.
I took a look at the first page of Affinity decks on deckcheck.net. 29 out of 30 ran Arcbound Worker and the one that didn't replaced him with Chromatic Star which essentially serves the same purpose, Affinity outlet early and fodder for Ravager/Atog, though I like worker more since he is a creature. 27 out of 30 ran Enforcer. The deck without worker is one of the decks running enforcer. While those 3 did run Fling type cards, there were still 20 decks with red splash that ran Enforcer. I think it is safe to say that both these cards are staples to any Affinity deck.
Which version is stronger in an unknown meta? I would think it would be the Vial version, since Control in any form is huge in Legacy, but I also need a decent chance against combo. Suggestions?
Also: I'm trying to pick GY hate, and right now i'm stuck between Tormod's Crypt and Leyline of the Void. Those of you who play Vial Affinity, which is stronger?

Vial build is more versatile, even Vs non-permission deck the versatility of Vial as it allows you to play Disciples and Masters without their mana, ie: masters without blue, disciples without black. I was a doubter until I found that Turn 1 vial is almost always the best play, as it is never bad and the extra speed of the non-vial build is usually countered by its weakness to permission.
Leyline is not good sideboard for affinity as you will probably not be able to re-cast it if it is bounced by Chain of Vapor. I play a split of Relic of Progenitus and Tormods Crypt, as they help accelerate affinity for artifacts spells and are a better topdeck than Leyline. The split is to help play around Pithing Needles.

1) why not replacing the Gemstone Mine for Underground Seas/City of Brass/Glimmervoid?
2) Would Academy Ruins be nice? I noticed the absence of Blinkmoth Nexus too.
3) How about the normal counterspells instead of annul?
4) What about 2 Chalice and 2 Canonist instead of the 4 Springleaf Drums?

Btw, if I managed to go to this big Legacy tournament with this deck, how do you think it would do?
Did you try to combo off of Disciple with Shatterstorm? Other than that I cant really think of any reason why you would run it at all.
This is my previous list:
4x Arcbound Ravager
4x Arcbound Worker
4x Disciple of the Vault

But, with the idea of combo posted previously by other member i make this list:
4x Arcbound Ravager
4x Disciple of the Vault
4x Master of Etherium
4x Ornithopter
3x Painter's Servant
1x Myr Enforcer

I was tested the two lists and i think that Aggro-Combo "Power Of Artfacts"(:D) deck is more powerfull than Vial Affinity deck.
What you think?
