ah, so there's no actual big beater like the old flare? maybe a post-Eventide variant would allow for a big finisher. Lark hits pretty hard anyway.
You could use Oona or Twilight Shepherd, but reveillark is harder to deal with.

well from what i saw in the solar flare deck that i played in round two that was the person in the rocky river Top 8 was just chapin's version that he played in detriot and got to top 4 with. it would make sense tho if there were changes as the player playing the deck was a member of RIW which is a store in michigan i believe and chapin plays there and could have easily gave him advice on chages to make to the deck.
if you havent seen that list just go to SCG.com and look at the lists from detroit.
Looks unrefined, but with some tuning, that could easily be a tier 2 deck. Thanks for the list!
There's a list that chapin used to t8 the detroit ptq that is much more tuned, and is definately in the top decks of the format. It's only bad matchup is faeries, and it's significantly ahead of the rest of the field.

This post is true. The list from the Rocky River top 8 had some stray numbers due to the person running it making the last changes at like 4 am the night before, so running that one card for card would not be the best idea.

To the well organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.

That sounds like a pretty horrible bad matchup, though.
Definitely something to look into if the meta miraculously shifts...

So its only bad MU is the deck that comprises 75% of the field... cool this then makes it completely unplayable.
BTW when you see players at chapins level doing good at PTQs dont assume its the deck.... chapin could probably top 8 your ave. PTQ with almost a precon.
who won in the rockville, MD ptq? I know the Dream Wizards staff never reports tournaments to wizards, but I lost to Alex Majlaton in the penultimate swiss round to put him in top 8 and me to 12th, so I was wondering how the top 8 shook out.

wasn't it seven faeries and one Elementals. I'm gonna go with faeries.

I played against Morgan Chang in a fae mirror in the quarters and won, then lost to Ty Holden's elementals in the semis. Apparently Ty lost to a fae build in the finals, based on what I'm seeing as overall results (no envelopes for elementals). That's all I know... apparently CHinkle won his quarters mirror and lost in the semis... so if he lost to Alex, then Alex won... maybe he'll chime in?
There were at least 3 kithkin decks in the nats PTQ, I think 2 faerie decks, me and fred played PV's Merfolk deck and not sure about the 8th...probably faeries. it looked like this:
Faeries beats 5c Folk
5c Folk beats Kithkin
Kithkin beats Faeries
Kithkin beats (mystery deck)
Kithkin beat Kithkin
5c Folk beat Faeries
Kithkin beat 5c Folk

Good times for sure. I had to get a bit lucky to win that event, but I'm glad I did. Up until now this season was horrible for me, so this was a nice change of pace. Good luck to everyone else trying to qualify over the next month.
Congrats Kenny. You should give out some tips to the Kithkin thread.
Or maybe write an article.
This PTQ season is rounding out nicely i think. Time for Fae to fall.
I'd like to hear about that build as well. Kithkin have so many individual card choices compared to Fae, I think I'm going to switch over for my last Berlin qualifier.

I ran a copy of the Springfield list except -1 Revillark in the board, +1 Stillmoon Cavalier. So it looked like this:
Maybe try to fit some Unmakes somewhere in the board, possibly instead of Wispmare who was underwhelming at the PTQ. Mistbind Clique is often a much bigger problem for you than Bitterblossom, and Unmake doubles as effective Sower hate. I don't know if it deserves maindeck slots, since it would likely have to replace Mirrorweave which can randomly win games. The sideboard should have some Ajani's for the mirror as well. Revillark and Turn to Mist were nice, but since you're going to have to add the 3rd/4th Forge Tenders and Ajanis in there, there is probably not enough room. Keep in mind that I'm still relatively inexperienced with the deck having only basically picked it up that morning, so the Japanese lists and coverage from the GP should be helpful in deciding exact card choices as well.
BTW, Cloudgoat was MVP for me all day, and any deck running three or less of that guy has to be incorrect IMO. He's just ridiculous.

refer to the post 3 spots above yours.
Also a lone PTQ from the 26th was reported...Kithkin make the first Eventie strike it seems.

I imagine tomorrow when Flores' article comes out, more PTQs will have been put up and we'll get the usual 7/8 Fae decks taking home the invites.
Some people just love Jace a little too much
The one on the 26th, Springfield Missouri, was the one I was refering to.
Faeries beats
Elementals
Mono Red beats
Faeries
Kithkin beats
Faeries
Flores beats
Doran (? - I didn't see the deck, someone said it was doran)
Semis:
Mono Red beats faeries
Kithkin beats Flores
I didn't stay for the end, but I imagine kithkin beat mono red
Faeries beats 5c Folk
5c Folk beats Kithkin
Kithkin beats Faeries

I ran a copy of the Springfield list except -1 Revillark in the board, +1 Stillmoon Cavalier. So it looked like this:
4 Goldmeadow Stalwart
4 Figure of Destiny
4 Wizened Cenn
4 Knight of Meadowgrain
4 Cloudgoat Ranger
3 Thistledown Liege
2 Burrenton Forge-Tender
2 Mirror Entity
4 Spectral Procession
3 Mirrorweave
4 Mutavault
4 Rustic Clachan
4 Windbrisk Heights
14 Plains
SB:
4 Stillmoon Cavaliers
4 Wispmare
3 Turn to Mist
2 Revillark
2 Burrenton Forge-Tender
If I was going to speculate changes, I'd possibly go:
-2 Forge-Tender
-2 Mirror Entity
-1 Mutavault
+4 Stillmoon Cavaliers
+1 Plains
SB:
-4 Stillmoon Cavaliers
+4 Moonglove Extract

If I was a Kithkin player and noticed a huge surge in popularity for RDW the last thing I would do is cut BFT from the MD.
